Elara recalls that these creatures are sensitive to high pitched noises and individually are fairly weak. The sharp teeth are their only defenses.

Fëanor ends up slapping himself in the face, doing another point of damage.

Bartholomew then punches him in the face, killing the Virika, but also knocking Fëanor down. The other creatures see this and rush over to attack. The party is now faced with a swarm.
