welcome!
so glad you introduced yourself. I heard the flapping and thought it was more of those ladybugs seeking warm winter nesting places, but it turned out to be a star moth! Hurrah! Hope you have fun here, we love new gamers, new imaginations, and new moths! Happy gaming!

Hi, Star Moth! So, I'm intrigued ... what are your favorite diceless RPGs? And welcome to the site!

Arlight Dirk, I'll level with you... I saw the light was on and here I am. I'll just shove some of these crunchy little red guys out of the way and get comfortable...
Thank you both for the warm welcome! Sadly bananabadger I don't have any experience with real actual diceless RPGs, just the 'let's make things up as we go along' kind. Which can be a lot of fun! But I'm kind of a rules nerd, I like messing around with new rules and seeing the different kind of stories that arise from them. |

Hey, both "let's make things up as we go along" and "rules are rules" are both proud genres in of themselves! No need to be exclusively one or the other! You'll be able to find games of both varieties here.
Have you considered signing up for a new player solo game? You might enjoy it as a way to get an even firmer grounding in the Play by Post approach.

Howdy Star Moth,
Okay, I'll bite, why Star Moth? Where does the username come from? You have definitely found the place! And D&D 5e is our most played game. There are a lot of opportunities to play 5e. But we have a huge selection of other games as well. Tell us a bit more about yourself. How about genre, do you prefer high magic, low magic, high tech, horror, sci fi/future tech etc.? Do you have a favorite character class, race? Do you have any plans to try another RPG system? Do you know how much wood a woodchuck chucks...if a woodchuck, could chuck wood? There are a lot of choices for various RPG systems here, although PF and D&D are the two most common. We have quite a few games with very long legs here. In fact, I talk about one below. To start, you may want to check out a solo game. This will help you learn the site tools, since each site is a bit different. As far as finding games goes, try here. This is where there are games seeking players. It can be a bit daunting but don't give up. It may take a few applications before you get accepted...but it's worth it once you're in. This is a great place to scratch your RPG itch and interact with some great DMs and players. There is some incredible role playing going on here. I thought I was a pretty good story teller, but I have been put to shame by the quality of many of the players...and I have learned a lot. This is a place where the people are welcoming, where the games are interesting, and where generally they only expect you to post a few times a week. I've been playing D&D for a very long time and I thought I've seen it all, but this site has some amazing games going on. I've been playing (storytelling as much as rolling) for a few years now in a game that has been going on continuously for four decades, started tabletop and moved online two decades ago. It's set in an alternate Europe where the worlds of Tolkien and Howard existed in ages past. So there is a hint of LOTR and a hint of Conan in it and since it's set in an alt Europe it somehow feels familiar. This is just one example and there are other great campaigns on RPGX. You should take some time to "stroll around" the site and see if anything catches your eye. I hope to see you around on the boards.

Welcome Star Moth! PbP is such a great way to roleplay as a creative outlet. The writing and co-writing involved really opens up additional opportunities for immersion that are tons of fun. I hope you enjoy the site and your New Player Solo Game!

Aghh a net! My one weakness..! Oh, wait - it's not a star net. I'm safe
Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I've signed up for a New Player Solo Game and also wandered over to the West Marches, so things are already looking good @Ildrahil - the name comes mostly from the fact that I just kinda dig moths But just 'Moth' seemed a little dull, and I recently bought the 5e Spelljammer books which include a groovy flying ship called a Star Moth... so I stole the name |

Oh and my cute little profile pic thing there is a moth person from a game called Hollow Knight, the vibe/aesthetic/deep lore of which really does it for me for some reason.
