I added quite a few NPCs to the NPC bios, including all of the people from Suzuko Ran's (GunMetalDrac) back-story (which should be posted soon). I'll do the same with any NPCs in your back-stories as they're posted. I'm working on a few more Shizoku at the moment who I hope to finish tomorrow.
Having a lot of NPCs is important for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I think you will need some help in running the kingdom. I think you're going to have a hard time making the necessary Kingmaker checks without filling more of the Leadership Roles then you can yourselves... which means you're all going to have to decide on a few Shizoku you can trust to bring into your conspiracy. From what our great DM has said, it sounds like emerging guns. Historically though, we'd probably be at or really close to the "Common Place" era. Guns were pretty standard issue by the 18th century. It also sorta depends on which end of the 18th century we fall on(later part most definitly Common Place, early part gets a little rough). I imagine Magic put a kink in the general timeline though.

I don't know, 18th didn't see anything like breech/catridge loading weapons (advanced firearms).

"Common Place" under this chart is correct, so all prices are reduced by 75%... but, revolvers and rifled barrels are not yet available, so the "Advanced Firearms" section is unavailable.
I like this section with regards to black powder better than what was in the Game Mastery Guide, so I'm changing the information in The World You Live In thread to reflect the pricing there. Also - the siege weapons information here is much better than what was in Stormwrack or the Game Mastery Guide. Last edited by FFFFFF; Sep 8th, 2011 at 06:42 PM. |

Well that means I'll have some extra coin because I have to swap from cannon to ballista. Now to find something to spend it all on.

Looks good! By the way, you're going with the Ha Long style Junk, right Allu? Do you want to stat out your crew or would you like me to? I assume one or two of them will have Exotic Weapon: (Whatever siege weapon you're using?), and the others will have Skill Focus in Profession: Sailor?
The other two important sailing skills are Knowledge:Geography, and Knowledge:Nature (or Survival)... and Craft (Ship) or (Siege Weapon) if something breaks. Also, to be clear, if you're taking the Ha Long style Junk instead of the mansion or wondrous item, you get two Large-size siege weapons included. In most cases, the fully-armed Ha Long will still be worth less than a Medium wondrous item. |

Oh sweet, cannon it is.
They're just level 1s at the moment, I doubt they'll be much use in combat outside of seige weapon use so yeah, skilled just as you said (because I'll be running the ship most of the time its at sea). |

Ammo isn't free - remember its 30 GP/25 lbs per cannon ball and 10 GP/1 lb per cannon charge of black powder.
I know you'll be giving the orders, but will you be making the checks? Even if so, you may want to keep the whole crew stat'd as sailors, since the boat can't sail without three people with at least one point in Profession: Sailor. It may be useful to be able to order your crew to go pick someone up when you can't personally be there to sail with them. Last edited by FFFFFF; Sep 8th, 2011 at 10:02 PM. |

Yeah, survival/know nature is just for predicting the weather and I just don't have the skill points for that.

Definitely. Division of labor is a good thing - on your boat as well as in the management of the kingdom.

Katsutoshi has no need for gold. He's a Priest!
![]() He'll keep most of it in safekeeping though, not giving it away or anything. These are going to be interesting and unpredictable times. He may reject material wealth, but he's not an idiot... lol Besides, Crows like shiny things ![]()
