Lyrin Dawnsinger:

"And a good day to you sir." Not really getting a chance to respond to the other stuff while they talked. She agreed that the place was much to expensive buuuuuuuut on the other hand maybe splurging just once wouldn't be a bad thing. So she splurged and handed over the three gold to the innkeeper, she'd find somewhere more reasonable tomorrow night.

"So then if you don't mind my asking." Lyrin said to the man trying to make conversation. "What brings you here today?"

Inside the barrack-cathedral of the Valiant Hero, just over two dozen young squires stand at attention, many of them secretly wishing that they were still being taught by Father Garrett, who would only swing a blade at them by accident. Even the few who do know Brother Anthony by more than his reputation seem nervous, though no one dares say anything. Despite their fear, they stand tall, knowing what is expected of them as paladins-to-be.

Behind him, Father Garrett decides that maybe it's about time to go visit the mayor.

~~~
"There've been more than a few caravan's disappearin' recently." The innkeeper answers Brom's inquisitions, giving his own personal touch to the news being called just outside. "What gets me is, well, jus' between you an' me? Th' forest's gotten all kinds a' bandits and monsters and what-have-you. A matter like this should've been taken care of in a few days. The mayor nev'r woulda stood for this crap back bef're his son got ill." The innkeeper suddenly notices that there are others in his establishment as well. "Y'didn't hear it from me, though."
Taking the payments of two guests, and nodding unsurprised at the departure of a third, the innkeeper calls after the man with clouded eyes as he leaves. "Y'might wanna try th' church! They're very kind to- ah- yere kind!" He winces, rubbing his cheek a bit nervously, hoping that didn't sound as bad as he thought.
"Huh. That sure dudn't sound good," the big man says in response to the innkeeper. "Hopefully it'll clear up," he adds uselessly, not really sure what to say about the matter.
Thankfully other interactions distract him, and when the cloudy-eyed man leaves, Brom appears embarrassed to have embarrassed the other man. He knew what it was like to be poor and proud, but even so it wasn't the kind of thing you liked admitting to strangers. The half-elf's inquiry leaves him a bit flustered as well, but he recovers. "Ah, uhm, it's a mite, uuuh, personal, miss. It's just I've been havin' some... health problems. Didn't want the neighbors back in Thornapple talkin' so I'm here t' have a chat with the healers in the big city." With a smile to the innkeep, he adds, "I'd probably best be makin' my way to the church, then. 'Magine you don't want us clutterin' up your lobby any longer'n we have to anyway, sir."
The soldier looks out over the acolytes and inwardly smiles. Alright, there was fear in their eyes but it hadn't reached their limbs. He'd have to work on that but they were young. He couldn't expect the perfect soldiers so young.
"Alright acolytes," he barks with aggression in his voice.
"My lesson for your shield is one of the purest basics. One that can not be stressed enough.
Your shield. Keep it in top condition, keep it clean, and take good care of it. When given the choice of a weapon or a shield, always choose a shield. If allowed both, choose your shield first.
You, do you know why?
" he puts one acolyte on the spot as he works toward a practice dummy.
Lyrin
She took in what the innkeeper had to say and filled it away, even with that though she was a bit unsure how she should proceed. She didn't think she could just waltz up to the governor and tell him that she was there from a vision about the town being destroyed.
She blushed a bit since she may just have inserted her foot into her mouth there. "My apologies for prying. Though perhaps I may be able to help you, if you'd allow? Lyrin never turned away the sick or injured if she could help it, even if they were strangers.
A split-second's hesitation at the inn's threshold is the only sign that the oracle heard the man's words. My kind? Gabe thinks as daylight hits him once again, And what kind would that be, good sir? The invalids? With an inward sigh he pauses for a moment to take in his surroundings. Despite what the man had said, his intentions, Gabe realizes, were probably for the better. Looking up and around the oracle searches for the church that would accept his kind.
Perhaps going there wasn't such a bad idea regardless; chances are someone there would know something about what was going on in the forest. Nothing attracts a horde of priests like the walking dead.
Lyrin:
"One second." She said to the big guy, then called after the blind one. "Sir are you going to be okay on your own? I could help you?" She managed to make it sound sincere and kind without being the least bit condescending.
Brom sputters a bit as he tries to come up with an answer, and the half-elf calls after the other man. "Well, ma'am, yo're just a saintess in trainin' ain'tcha?" He smiles widely. "I'll certainly let you try, if you think you can help, but I think it's a problem of the noggin and not the body. Dunno if that's somethin' all healers work with. Either way, I'd prefer to mull it over private-like so maybe we should escort that fella to the church and then have a chat in the pews." Brom strides purposefully out of the inn and looks around for the young man. Finding him, he strides over and calls out.
"Howdy again," he says, in a tone that's trying carefully not to offend. "We're headed to the church ourselves, now, if you'd like some comp'ny."
Lyrin:
She nods not really sure what a problem of the noggin would be. Walking out of the inn she awaited the blind man's response.
