For the skills where it asks you to choose a branch, that means you can actually be proficient in that skill multiple times, with different branches of training.

Specialization :: At 1st level, choose 3 skills that you are proficient in. These 3 are your Specializations. There are many benefits Associated with these skills, but to start with, you apply your Specialty Bonus as well as Proficiency Bonus to these 3 skills.

Training :: Whenever you receive this feature, choose a free feat. You must meet all prerequisites.

Polymath :: You're pretty good at just about everything. Choose a skill you are not trained in, and gain a +2 class bonus to any check for that skill. You may not choose the same skill twice.

Path :: At 2nd level, you choose your Path as an Expert.
*Talented
2 :: Multi-Talented - You may, as a free action, apply your Speciality Bonus to your next skill check for a skill that you are not Specialized in, but that shares an Ability score (ex, Specialized in Deception, can use Speciality Bonus for an Intimidation check). Proficiency in this second skill is not necessary. You can use this three times between Short Rests. You may use this interchangeably between Strength and Dexterity skills.
6 :: On the Fly - Once between short rests, you can gain the benefits of a feat you do not possess. You do not need to meet the prerequisites. This is a free action, and lasts for a number of turns equal to your Specialty Bonus.
12 :: Focused Effort - When you take the attack action, you can make an extra attack.
18 :: Another thing.
*Well-Studied
2 :: Creative Adaptation - As a bonus action, you can analyze the situation and see how your talents could apply. If you take the Attack action this turn, your first attack can use one of your Specialization skills for the attack roll. Damage is unaffected. Please be descriptive.
6 :: Best Laid Plans - You may take an action and your bonus action to assess a situation. If you do so without taking damage, you gain advantage on any rolls make with your Specializations. This lasts for a number of rolls equal to your Specialty Bonus.
12 :: Big Man on Campus - You are immediately recognized by demeanor, candor, and vocabulary as an absolute expert in your field. When one of your Specializations comes up in any way, you may use the Specialization skill check in place of any Charisma skill, as long as it pertains to convincing the other person something about your skill.
18 :: Another thing.

Languages!

This is Earth, 1992, so all languages are available to take. This includes probably important ones like Russian, down to much more unusual ones like Tagalog. If you want to use something special (Morse code, Sign Language, a special cipher), just talk to me about it.

There is no "Common", so take the language most appropriate to your country of origin there. I also advise anyone not from England to take English, since that is the language of the folks running the expedition, and also I don't feel like trying to translate everything.
