There's still a little over a week to go before applications close, so there's still plenty of time. However, especially for the folks who already have concepts on deck, it might be a good time to start to look over your application and push things from "WIP" towards a more complete state. Quite a few applications are missing your planned L20 build, for example.

I've had a couple people ask: for better or worse, I don't plan to do pre-selection review/feedback posts for the applied characters. I understand why you'd want them, and I will be providing (secreted) feedback to everyone who applies when the time comes. I just can't do an additional round of it early; for one thing, reviewing applications and 3.5 characters is, um, not fast, and I really only have time to do it the right way once! But second, I tend to think mid-application feedback of that nature biases selection in favor of earlier applicants (who would have time to get a review and revise accordingly), and I don't want first mover advantage to be a thing here -- everyone who applies before the deadline is under equal consideration.

Things you're likely to use, certainly. Speak with burrowing animals... well, maybe not. Feel free to just drop that sort of stuff in the Notes somewhere if desired. Honestly, I'm probably not going to dock sheet or mechanics points for the absence, but it IS nice to keep track.

You never know when it'll happen...

So question for my level progression as a Warlock:
1: Is hellfire warlock acceptable for a prestige class
2: If so I assume the Strongheart vest is a no ( honestly not a big fan of it myself but I like to see what the options are)
3: Would the binder work-around be acceptable.
4: And I’m not greedy so I won’t ask about Legacy Champion

Hellfire Warlock is fine. You are correct that the strongheart vest meld is incompatible with the class; knowing ahead of time that you are reducing the penalty to zero is effectively being immune to the penalty. Healing the damage afterward (even reliably and repeatably) is not immunity, though; the damage does still happen.

Honestly, if there's any one book I'd choose to disallow categorically, it would be Weapons of Legacy. The core mechanics there Just. Don't. Work. So the only uses of the whole book are shenanigans I'm happy to live without.

Withdrawing my app. Just don't have the time to do a good application as well as sort out the character sheet and do level progressing with everything I'm likely to use etc.

Name: Felynille, formerly of House Mizzrym
Race: Half-Drow
Class: Scout 6 (Dungeon Specialist alt from PHBII)
Planned Progression: Scout 10/Shadowdancer 10
Age: 38
Gender: Female
Alignment: CG
Deity: Eilistraee
Role: Ranged Combat/Scout

Appearance: Felynille is a lithe and slender maiden, her body seemingly devoid of a single ounce of extra fat or curve but rather built out of tight coils of muscle and scars. She's also somewhat short for her kind, barely coming over 5 feet tall. Her skin is rather pale for her drow heritage, a dusky light grey instead of the standard violet-ebony tones amongst her kind, and her eyes are a piercing ice-blue, a gift of her father. Out of habit, she keeps her pure white hair short in a close undercut, with the long patch coming down on the right side of her face down to her chin.

Personality: Felynille is somewhat detached and distant to those who don't know her well, a defense mechanism from her upbringing. To those who do manage to get past her walls though, they will find a loyal companion and a listening ear. Felynille isn't much of a talker herself, but she is a careful listener and highly observant of detail. She's also quite an ardent birdwatcher, being fascinated with the creatures since her immigration to the surface.

I'll consider my app complete. Haven't been able to think of any details I wanna add/remove regarding Talia's backstory and no real worry about build details since it's Soulborn 20.

There are now 4.5 days remaining until the close of applications. There's still plenty of time for people who have expressed an interest, but not yet formally applied, to get something together... as well as for current applicants to complete, flesh out, or otherwise tinker with their submission before the gates close.

Time to get some pen and paper to 1's and 0's.
Briar Cranston
Race: Gnome
Template: Ghost
Age: Deceased a week, was alive 150 years.
Class: Dragon Shaman 1
Appearance: Briar is, like most ghosts, a pale blue in color including the clothing he had in life. Unlike many ghosts he does not have any of the fraying around the limbs as he is fresh enough that his spirit remains entirely intact. Despite his generally normal appearance it is very easy to see what killed the gnome as his head is cleanly cloven from top of head to eyebrows, a split diadem resting comfortably upon them. His voice has none of the wavering, quaking qualities present in so many other ghosts, no his healthy baritone transcended death itself.

Personality: Briar has always been a kind man but he has found his time as a ghost has made his patience thin although that could also be his sanity shattering. He treats others with respect as his father taught him at a young age that the more a customer likes you, the more likely they are to come back even if they can't buy anything at the time. He was the life of the party and his time as a corpse has done little to slow him down, he still enjoys speaking to anyone who wishes to listen although he has found his audiences to be a bit harder to come by.

Background: Briar's life was a good but simple affair, he was born to traveling merchants and so he became a traveling merchant himself. The realms are a dangerous place so he picked up a few skills to keep himself safe along the way but he knew he was never going to be more than a tiny addendum to a footnote in history and that was perfectly fine by him. It therefore surprised him to run into one of the most well known bandits in the land, and to be killed by him, and most surprised of all to wake back up.

Waking up/A Gnome and his dogThe world came back to Briar slowly, he felt a searing pain at the top of his skull. The last thing he remembered was Gnashtusk swinging an ax at his head, apparently the bandit wasn't as evil as people claimed or he wouldn't have turned to the flat of the blade at the last moment. It was strange to wake up from unconsciousness standing but he had heard of stranger things. A quick look around showed him his cart was ransacked and his horses slaughtered. He couldn't feel his legs as he moved forward but they moved so he suspected it was just the after effect of his severe concussion. As he approached he saw his guards were not shown the mercy he was, their tiny forms broken and scattered around the cart. They fought bravely beside him, he would make sure their loved ones were taken care of for the rest of their lives but even that would never be enough. He got close to the gnome in the center and what he saw seemed to be in direct confrontation with his current ability to think and function. He saw his face looking back at him only the center of his head appeared to have been cleanly cloven to the brow line.

Briar raised a hand to the front of his face and saw his hand only it was now a whitish blue and he could see through it. The orc hadn't turned his blade, Briar was dead. According to all laws of physics and logic a ghost can't ventilate but that mattered very little to the ghost of Briar Cranston who found himself hyperventilating most violently. If he could throw up he knew he would but instead he just looked on in horror. The brute had left him his broken diadem and his clothes but his morningstar, shield, and wands were all missing.

For nearly a day Briar stood over his own corpse and wept. It was only the appearance of a solitary wolf that broke his self-pity. The wolf sniffed the area around him cautiously before it closed in, its nose detecting no reason to flee. Briar tried shooing the beast away but it did him precious little good. The wolf took a bite of his thigh and Briar did the only thing he could think to do, he rushed at it in his spectral form. As his outstretched hand met the wolf's form his perspective suddenly shifted, he was now inches from his own corpse and he saw everything with crystal clarity despite the muted colors. The taste and smell of blood nearly overwhelmed his senses but it could not deter him, if anything the taste was amplifying his hunger. He swallowed before the reality of the situation set in. He felt the wolf sharing its emotions, mostly fear and confusion, with him through a wash of images that told him better than words could. Briar walked his new body to the side of the road and dug until the hole was too deep for a predator to smell through before walking back to his corpse and dragging to to the grave. He continued the process till each body lined the grave.

He could not give a speech with his current for but he did let out a thunderous howl that spoke of his sorrow and reverberated throughout the night air. To reward the wolf for its troubles he took a bite from each body before rolling them in. With the job almost done he filled the hole back up and marked all around the grave to further obscure the sent of the corpses before taking his body to the overturned cart and rooting out the dried rations the caravan ate on their travels. The wolfs fear had ebbed as it realized it was in no danger and as Briar sat in its head he tried his best to relay he was thankful for the wolf's aid, a surprisingly easy concept to transmit with thoughts of joy at the image of the wolf doing as he had made it. With that Briar left the thing's mind and after a few seconds to reorient itself it lay in the shade of the overturned cart, sore of muscle and full of belly, and slept.

"Thank you boy. Now what does one do once they have become a ghost?" That question filled his mind as he sat over the scene of his own slaughter as day rolled into night and continued into day again. The wolf woke at sunrise but did not leave his place beside the cart. The beast's fur began to stand on end and it was only a moment until Briar saw why. Two men in the pelted garment of hunters walked up the road, bows in hand and arrows knocked. "Lot of blood up there, anyone alive?" The men got no answer and slowly drew closer till the wolf was in view. "No way he did all this. Pretty pelt though, probably get at least five silver off it." "Yeah if I get it, you ruin too much of the pelt." "Do not. Look here." Briar interposed himself but in the light of dawn he went unseen. The man began to draw and a noise escaped Briar as his form became more apparent, his desire to protect the wolf providing the catalyst needed to manifest as much as he could upon the material plane. The hunters screamed in terror, the shooter managing to release the arrow before dropping the bow and running. A thud and a whimper came from behind him. The arrow had managed, through luck or fate, to embed itself in the young wolf's stomach. The wolf could see him approach but it was unable to flee despite its clear desire. Briar reached out and his hand went through the wolf which startled it more but after a moment it calmed as it was clear Briar couldn't harm it further.

"Gonna get you back on your feet boy, just need to borrow your body and hope my powers still work." The ghost took a deep breath, or more accurately mimicked a deep breath, to brace himself before again plunging into the wolf's mind. The gnome let out a whimper as the arrow moved with the slight twitch from him possessing the wolf. He began to send the poor beast images of the arrow coming out and the wolf being able to move again and it calmed noticeably although that was likely due to it no longer feeling the biting pain in its stomach. Through the force of his essence he began to pull the power of his patron dragon back to him once more, it was slow to start but sped up as his spirit learned to commune in its new form. The arrow wound stopped bleeding as flesh knit together. Briar gripped the arrow with his jaws and slowly pulled it out, agony gripped him but he continued at the agonizing pace to ensure as little permanent damage occurred as possible. The tip finally slid out and the pain slowly began to recede. The wolf sent images of fear and joy but it seemed it had felt none of the agony experienced by Briar so he maintained his hold on the boy until the last wave of pain finished its run through the body. When the feeling changed to simply being sore rather than being in pain Briar left the wolf's body and watched over it as it ate its fill of trail ration meat and rested. On a whim Briar began wandering down the road and the wolf dutifully followed.

"Well you don't see this every day, a gnome ghost walking down the road with his wolf. Wonder how I would respond from the outside? Probably scream and run away I suppose."

Too Many MushroomsBriar came across quiet the cast of characters in his spectral state but few stopped to chat, there was one young wizard who had been stuck in the astral plane for a few years that he managed to chat with for a day but then their paths diverged but it was from this wizard that he heard of the call to hunt down the one who slew him. He began heading to the outpost with no real plan of how he would engage the owner, just knowing he wanted a chance to bring his killer to justice. It was not until he came across a human wandering the forest eating a mushroom that he got a break. Even from his ethereal state Briar knew the man was unwashed, his stench likely the only thing keeping him from being eaten by a wild beast. Briar approached the man but Arroon stayed back, the smell of the man too strong for the wolf to bare. "Woooah, that mushroom musta been strong cause you look like a ghost little buddy." "No I am a ghost. I actually need someone's help for a interview, could you possibly let me borrow your body for a time? I wish to offer my service to hunt the man that killed me." The man seemed deep in thought for a time before he finally broke his reverie with a half-witted smile. "Sure little ghost buddy, I'll help you. Posses me whenever you want man." Well that went better than expected.

The ghost floated to the man and reached out as he had with Arroon. Briar took over the man's body but he was not prepared for what he would experience. He saw his death as a cosmic giant entirely removed from his universe, watching time and again as an orc cleaved the skull of a tiny gnome. He saw a kaleidoscope of colors cascading around the scene and slowly it became him possessing the man that was replayed again and again, first from his perspective, then from the man's, and then from both. Eternity and a day passed before the constant sensory overload ended and sleep dragged at the body Briar resided in. He fought against the desire aided by the constant assault on his senses that the insects on his borrowed flesh provided. "How can you live like this" Hey Man don't judge me, you possessed me, you knew what you were signing up for man. The gnome said nothing in response as he looked for the nearest river to make his current body presentable.

Interview with a ghostA tall, thin, clean cut man walked into the Calling Horns with a young black wolf at his heel. His clothes were freshly washed and the knife at his belt had been sharpened to a whisper's edge and a needle point. The man walked up to Tosker's bar with the air of one who knew his craft and held no fear of being outdone while the wolf went to the corner closest the door and curled up on the floor without instruction. "Hello my good man, I heard you are hiring folks to hunt down Gnashtusk and I want, nay I need, to offer my services in this cause. Now looking at me I am sure you can tell I am no warrior of great renown but I promise my skills are worth more than the blade at anyone in here's hip and better yet you can have them without cost. I can get through trapped rooms without anyone, or anything, knowing I am there. I can bewitch the mind with my tongue and my spirit. I can turn allies against eachother and when we finally come to that vile fool I can make sure his spirit stays down this time around. I also have a few theories on why he comes back so often and what may actually be going on but that can be discussed in my group after I get hired on ay?" The man's smile was charming despite the fact that the teeth had lost all enamel long ago and were of varying colors. "I also can keep a team fighting on the edge of death and get them patched up after. I also come with a great tracker who just needs to keep well fed to happily follow instructions. There is one thing I want to let you know before you agree because you are an honest man with an honorable goal and I don't want to keep anything from you. This body is not my own, the one it belongs to willingly allowed me to take it over but in truth I am a ghost, a gnome that Gnashtusk murdered on the road. I wish to get vengeance true but more than that I want justice to be brought to the one that took the lives of my guards and my horses. So what do you say Tosker, are you willing to have a ghost in your army?"

Alright, I think I am finished. I believe I have everything accounted for, though it has been a while since I last played 3.5e. My post application is at the top of page 5.
