Ad Re-Opened! Accepting Applications! Well, I chose six thinking we would lose one or two and have a perfectly sized party, but... here I am with only two active players remaining. PbP, amirite?! Getting right down to it: Characters will begin at Level 2 with 27 Points to spend on attributes. I'm pretty forgiving on a lot of character details as long as it matches the tone of the campaign... which focuses on misfits, losers, rogues and underdogs trying to make a buck in one of the grittiest, most unforgiving guilds in Sharn: The Deathsgate Guild of Adventurers. This isn't an outfit for your typical do-gooders or noble-born/dragonmarked scions. Give me your rough, your rowdy, and your downtrodden! The party currently consists of a former soldier of Cyre and a far-from-home Eladrin, for those who know...elven bard. I'm tempted to keep their hobgoblin warrior on as an NPC companion because I enjoy the ghaal'dar, but we'll see. I'm tentatively looking for two more players to round out the group. Prospective players haven't missed much action or excitement just yet as the crew has just wrapped an investigation where thieves from the Lower City stole a priceless artifact from the private collection of an individual with friends in the Sharn City Council. The thieves are believed to be in the region of Lower Dura once known as Godsgate, but now colloquially referred to as Fallen. There are few areas in Sharn more dangerous, so this isn't a job for the faint of heart... but Up to 6,000 GP to be split amongst the party...if you're successful, it's quite a nice payday. The window for new applicants will close at midnight on March 1st 3rd. If you have any questions or just want to talk "shop," I'll be happy to oblige. Also, if you are unfamiliar with Eberron, I don't mind throwing out possibilities and hooks to adapt whatever concept you have to the setting. I'm more interested in a player that's going to stick around and contribute to a fun game than I am a Not to knock a nice app... it just isn't the end-all-be-all!colorful/flashy application. So please do not include pictures in your application. Happy Gaming! Last edited by mad_gondsman; Feb 28th, 2023 at 10:34 AM. |

Name: Doctavian Velesaris
Race: variant human Class: Artificer artilerist Alignment: CN Character concept: Mad scientist with aspergers syndrome who relies on his inventions and is constantly pushing the limits of science. Background: guild artisan Personality Traits: I always want to know how things work and what makes people tick I like to talk at length about my profession Ideal: Freedom, everyone should be free to pursue their own livelihood Bond: one day I will return to my guild and prove myself the greatest artisan of them all! Flaw: I have no understanding of social norms and frequently say things i shouldn't that upset people. Appearance: Doctavian stands at an unimpressive 5’4 and weighs a measly 130 pounds. He has greasy black hair that is often disheveled. Large, thick goggles hide his blue eyes and a white coat filled with large pockets inside and out adorns his thin frame. His pockets are filled with tools, screws, and bits of metal. He is very twitchy, often fidgeting and strumming his fingers together as he flashes his teeth with a manic grin and giggles to himself, amused by his own disturbing thoughts. Personality: Doctavian has asperges syndrome. As such he has a brilliant mind and can think very quickly and logically, but he has no understanding of people or social norms constantly causing him problems., he can build machines the likes of which the world has never seen, so fast that he makes it seem effortless, but when trying to hold a conversation, he frequently says inappropriate things without understanding why they upset people, and very quickly gets frustrated with people who don’t understand him. when stressed, he can devolve into child-like tantrums that often involve his falling into a depression and insulting himself. Doctavian is most at home alone in a workshop surrounded by things rather than people, but deep down he is desperately lonely and longs to form a meaningful connection with someone who understands him. He has no understanding of social norms and his morality and ethics are questionable at best. He is often so focused on whether or not he can do something that he never thinks whether or not he should. Backstory: Even as a child, it was clear that Doctavian was different. While other children played with stick swords and wrestled around, Doctavian was crafting little figures out of whatever he could find. He would place them on the ground and just stare at them. when asked what he was doing, he would remark that he was watching them fight in his mind. This caused him to be ostracized by the other children and he soon became a pariah. Doctavian taught himself to read when he got ahold of one of his mothers’ books, and then began consuming every book he could get his hands on. when he was five, his visited the blacksmith with his father to make an order. The boy was fascinated by all the tools, the forge, and the things that could be made. Just from his observation he managed to build his own small forge in his backyard where he melted down any pieces of metal he could find. Using crude tools he began making all manner of items. At age ten he asked the smith to take him on as an apprentice but was refused due to his lack of physical strength. Un willing to give up, he continued to pursue his interest, but rather than making swords and the like, Doctavian made delicate things using molds. Gears, sprockets, springs, pieces that he put together to make little clockwork soldiers which he would sell so he could buy more materials to make more inventions. Eventually his inventions caught the attention of a guild merchant who put Doctavian into contact with the artisan’s guild. Here he was given proper training smithing, metallurgy, mechanics, and engineering. Those were the best years of Doctavians life, but they would not last. While no one denied Doctavian’s brilliant mind, most saw him as a freak. His inventions were too unusual, too ahead of their time, and his social ineptitude made him many enemies. It all came to a head when he created his eldritch cannon, an autonomous quadrupedal flamethrower. During its demonstration, a a single mistake caused it to burn several of the guildmasters. For this, Doctavian was kicked out of the hall and was forced to become a mercenary in order to support himself and his work, but he vowed to one day return to the hall and show them all what he can do. RP Sample: The player: I’m 40 years old American who has been playing dnd for nearly twenty years. I’m an aspiring writer who just finished my first novel. I’ve been running a skyrim game on this site for over a year now. I can post every day and I’ve played doctavian several times, so I know him very well. He works well as comic relief and o0ften says outrageous and inappropriate things.

Midian Tal Santor d'Sivis
Race Dragon Marked Gnome Class Wizard - Order of Scribes Alignment NG Background House Agent/Dezina Museum Researcher Personality Traits I'm willing to listen to every side of an argument before I make my own judgment I like to talk at length about my profession. Personality Flaw I have trouble keeping my true feelings hidden. My sharp tongue lands me in trouble. Bond Nothing is more important than the preservation and progression of knowledge, and understanding Appearance Midian is the sort that often goes unnoticed until she either opens her mouth or someone does something to annoy her. Her outward appearance isnt anything extraordinary aside from the colour of her hair which is all thanks to her Thalani roots. A thick head of well groomed "long" saturated purple hair falls about her shoulders, as strands drape from either side of her head framing her face. The underside of her hair is a completely different colour, an equally saturated and vibrant green all of which can often be seen braided down her back. Angular features, and large long ears give way to her small lithe frame. Her skin is pale with a slight pink tint, and her large eyes; sparkling black gems, often down cast to a book, or scroll, or other such reading material. She often wears robes; nothing too form fitting as she prefers comfort over fashion. Atop her strangely coloured head sits a large, near obnoxiously wide-brimmed pointed hat she wears if for no other reason than it keeps people from bothering her, and from things being distracting to her though it has been known to muffle her words. Her robes, and hat are of a periwinkle colour if not a bit darker. Unfortunately for her however all of his is placed on a pear shaped frame no taller than 3 feet, and weighing no more than 35 pounds without the robes, and books, underneath which can be seen the glowing Mark of Scribing house Sivis is so known for, bridging her collar, shoulder, and neck headed up towards her jaw on her left side Personality Midian can be a little much for some who aren't expecting the levels of either sass or attitude that can come out of such a small person. Midian generally keeps to herself, unless a situation calls for it, but generally she likes to be alone with her studies or a story, and some wine or a pipe, than someone else. She can be quick to anger should someone act against common sense or courtesy towards her, and will not be privy to unfair conduct. Despite the playful nature of gnomes Midian has done her best to corral that nature towards her study and admiration of knowledge. This is probably why she was approached at such a young age by the Unbound Scroll a secret Sivis group that trains, and cultivates those gnomes who covet knowledge, and preservation of it above all else. Though still too young, and inexperienced to become a member its something that has taken up permanent residence in her thoughts. Neutrality is a big part of being a gnome of House Sivis as the nature of the work demands it. Unfortunately for Midian, or perhaps the clients she was working with, she does not work for the Notaries Guild OR the Speakers Guild due to a conflict of personalities. Midian has a problem holding her tongue even for those in a higher position than herself, and has been known to go off on tangents, and vomit information about her passions. She is unapologetically her. This isnt to say she is unfriendly, quite the contrary in fact as she is quite sociable, and open, though not always the most approachable. In matters of title she is certain to make sure the proper suffix is used on ones name as Dragonmarked houses can be quite particular, and she will make a point to correct someone should the wrong one be used. In politics, and in magic; Names hold more power than people realize, and pauper or prince each was due the modicum of respect that came with pronouncing their name correctly. Backstory The constant feeling of nostalgia when you think about where your childhood took place, mixed with the bitter taste that war-time leaves in your mouth. This is something that plagues Midian on a regular basis. Born on Thelanis of a Thelani gnome, and a Zil she spent a few of her formative years there before her family moved to the much less vibrant, and war-torn Khorvaire. To Zilargo more specifically. There she found her passion for reading, and for needing to know, and figuring things out like the brilliant minds who built the lightning rail ,or deciphered the giant texts telling them how to bind elementals in the first place. The very drive for knowledge was in her blood as some of her relatives were a part of those very noteworthy advances. As a matter of fact one of her aunts is a Lightning Rail technician to this day. Much to her parents dismay while her academic prowess grew so to did her anti-social behavior with little to no success in correcting it, despite their efforts. Midian however didnt see the need for certain social practices like walking on eggshells with people, or pretending like someone wasnt unintelligent to spare their ego. This is what caused the incident that lost her her positions at either Sivis based guild. Instead her father pulled some strings to get her into the research department of the Museum of Dezina in Sharn where she worked during the war. Through this position her intellect, and tenacity in pursuing knowledge became known to House Sivis, and eventually she was approached as a prospect to become an Unbound Scroll. House Sivis noticed her potential, and her blow up at a Sivis client made a few waves, but also amused the right people. Unfortunately until a later time when approached by the Unbound Scrolls, she has no contact with them, nor does she know a member with which to be in contact, and the gnomes of House Sivis would deny such an organization even exists. Now Midian spends her days taking research from the university, and studying it, translating, transfiguring, and transcribing what they need done. Her most recent study turned out to be schematics, and design plans for an automatic toilet found on Xen'drix as bulk information grabbed during an expedition. A waste of potential was how she felt, though the diagrams did reveal design flaws in how some of the cities current waste disposal systems, and shed light on how they could be improved it wasnt the sort of information she was looking for. In her years of experience in the city there were few places in the lower city where people werent minding their own business, and those made for the best places to not be bothered. Save for the odd bar fight, or drunken stranger trying to get too friendly or familiar with her Deathsgate had more of a bad rep than she thought it deserved, but that could be her gnomish neutrality speaking. It was at the Deathsgate that Midian found both a decent place to do her thing, as well as a place where her intellect could be let loose on more interesting projects. She wasn't above using her brain power for someone else's benefit should the price be right, and among the riff raff, and out casts that called Deathsgate their home they could use the calculating intellect of a Zil Gnome. She has also garnered a following of folk that like to listen to her info dump on things in the museum as she is a font of knowledge from her job. This in turn got her more jobs within the guild as both a good resource for knowledge and information, as well as a valuable sieve for potential plans, and ideas as she wasnt prone to sugar coating anything, or holding back her true feelings towards a situation even if under threat. On top of all of that Midian would often work out certain leads, or through her connections within House Sivis, and the nation of Zil acquire the information vaguely, and work it out from there. Player (Me) 34 year old who has been playing since 3.5 came out. I'm a HUGE nerd, almost as if it were destined to be my mother named me Sheldon in 88, and it wasnt that bad until "The Show That Will Not Be Named" came out XD I game in almost all formats. Table top, video, board, LARP, TCG, and even drinking if the occasion fits. I have been a really big fan of Eberron, and Keith Baker since it came out in 3.5, and have even read some of the novels set in this titular world. I usually have a penchant for weird races, or odd character ideas, but this was an idea that I thought would be fun to both roleplay, and roll play. Favorite D&D monster? That's hard, I mean my joke answer would be 4th editions gnome XP, but I've always REALLY liked Ulitharids aka Bad Ass Mutant Mind Flayer. Though that new Elder Brain Dragon looks so damn cool. Punk rock? Naw I think the leather jackets maybe, but Hair Metal was the bigger vehicle to sell hair products :P I mean theres no way people didnt try and imitate Phil Spector's doo.
