Descent Into Avernus: Hellriders Last Ride

Game NameDescent Into Avernus: Hellriders Last Ride
Game SystemDnD 5e
Themeourney to Hell, Character Morality, Tough Decision Making, Combat, Strongly Story oriented, Character driven decision making, multiple paths to completion
FlavourThis game involves to travelling to the first level of hell, Avernus, which will involve many temptations and attempts to corrupt the player characters. This will however stay within the PG-13 rules of the site. This will be dreadful, but also with a taste of humor as all of my games tend to have.
Plot Summary
Descent Into and Avernus

System5e Dungeons and Dragons

Overview
Elturel known as the city of light must call upon its Hellriders once again for trouble has come to the surrounding lands. Increased activities by the followers of Tiamat known as the Cult of the Dragon has caused strife throughout the sword coast and rumors of additional activity form the Cult of the Dead Three has also crown the concern of travellers throughout the region. The Dragon Cult has been terrorizing travellers and small towns collecting treasure to add to their masters draconic hoard as villages covered in smoldering ash are left in their wake. As bad as it was however, it was not the worst of the problems that plagued Faerun as the presence of the Cult of the Dead Three is also present. A cult that's very nature should be feared as they are comitted to three mortals so evil the rose to divinity. Now the belief of their cultists made them stronger as Bane the god of Tyranny, Myrkul the god of and Bhal the god of Murder brought out the very worst in the cultists.

Factions of Waterdeep, Bulder's Gate and Elturel are aligning their forces to move against the threat and once again the Hellriders are answering the call.

in the Blood War.

History of Elturel
right-aligned image
Elturel's modern history is tied with that of its famous Hellriders, though there are different accounts of their founding. In all, it was said that a company of Riders had once ridden into the Hells themselves—namely Avernus, the first layer—and from this story, the Hellriders were named. The earliest known version told that it was to rescue one of their own, such was their great loyalty to each other. A later version said that they rode through a gate to hunt down and slay devils that had been harassing the good people of Elturel. A third account expanded on this. Fiends roamed the Fields of the Dead north and west of Elturel, stripping fields bare, slaying livestock, burning houses, and dragging folk away to an unknown yet horrible doom. As people lived in fear, Elturel's cavalry fought the fiends, riding wherever they must and enduring great casualties, but the fiends kept appearing in greater number. The High Rider of Elturel implored the people to pray to the gods for help. Surprisingly, help came—the rogue angel Zariel (desiring to destroy devils and demons and to have a mortal army to fight for her in the Blood War) came to Elturel the next day, declaring she'd found the gate in the Fields of the Dead west of Elturel through which the devils were pouring, and that she would lead the cavalry through to defeat them where they mustered. She rallied and trained an army of thousands, among them Yael, Haruman, Olanthius, and Jander Sunstar. One early battle was to relieve Idyllglen from attack by Yeenoghu, gnolls, and demons. When she thought them ready, i Zariel, riding her golden mastodon Lulu, led them out of the city, with the cheers and good wishes of the Elturians behind them, and embarked on the Ride, a glorious mounted charge through the gate into Avernus. Only a very few returned, sealing the portal behind them. Grief-stricken, they told that Zariel and her army had been defeated, but they were all glorified as the Hellriders

By the late 1400s DR, through a variety of excuses, Elturel had laid claim to the lands of its neighbors, placing them within "Elturel's Guard" as they called it, making itself a petty regional power.

Then, shockingly, in the year 1404 DR, the High Rider himself was discovered to be a vampire, with a vast network of vampire spawn, charmed minions, undead allies, and sycophantic collaborators that surprised even the Hellriders. Now exposed, the undead infested Elturel, and whatever victories the Hellriders won during the days, they lost sorely in the nights. It was said the Elturians prayed to the gods each night just for the dawn to come sooner. Then, one night so devastating it felt like the end, it did. A second sun appeared in the sky, turning night to day, and blasting the vampire lord and his spawn to ashes while the remaining undead cowered from its light. Elturel was swiftly liberated from their dead grip. A priest of Torm, Thavius Kreeg, took the credit and was acclaimed as the savior of Elturel, and few would doubt his goodness or his intent. Only he knew the true origin of the mysterious second sun.

The Companion, as it became known, remained where it was, for days and years after. Over time, the miracle brought pilgrims: the sick, the curious, and the devout of many faiths, including many paladins. After them came hundreds of people who'd fled the menace of undead of one kind or another, who came to Elturel for protection and settled there. The best of the paladins was appointed ruler of Elturel, titled the High Observer. The High Observer then established the Order of the Companion and the Creed Resolute to keep the paladins of different faiths in order.

Some years later, there was a crisis of leadership in Elturel and the likely successor to the post of High Observer, Tamal Thent, and her whole retinue disappeared near Boareskyr Bridge. Despite an investigation, no trace of any of them could be found. Thus, soon after, the post of High Observer was filled by Thavius Kreeg himself, incidentally Thent's rival for the role. One of Kreeg's first acts as High Observer was to order Fort Tamal built and named in her honor. While this might've been an honor, in later years a posting to Fort Tamal was apparently a punishment for insubordination by young agitators and zealots in the Order of the Companion. Nevertheless, Kreeg would reign for decades and set Elturel on the road to becoming the nation of Elturgard.By the late 15th century DR, Elturel served as the capital of the realm now known as Elturgard, some noting that Thavius Kreeg had managed to somehow live an extrodinary long lifespan and still keep up with the affairs of ruling Elturel.

Factions
Hellriders
The Hellriders of Elturel do not get their name from some metaphor or ambiguous relevent scripture, no, the Hellriders were forged in the fires of hell. The stories of their origins have been passed down from generation to generation as it happened over two centuries ago. The Blood War had once again spilled over to the mortal realms and the people of Elturel found themselves fighting off demons and devils and they tried to merely survive. The angel Zariel answered their call and raised an army from the people of Elturel. Those who rode with her into the portal to Avernus were known as the Hellriders. Despite losing both their commander and Zariel in the fight, a few of the Hellriders made it back to tell their story. Hell was a terrifying place and although they were not able to end the war they pushed back enough to prevent the war from spilling over to their plane without the Devils and Demons expecting a serious price to be paid. From that moment on the Hellriders were born and generations later they still claim they would ride into hell for the defense of Elutrel.

Gideon Lightward asks the characters to attend a secret meeting regarding the Cult of the Dragon. This is an opportunity to prove themselves to the High Rider. Gideon Lightward asks that Reya Mantlemorn (LG female human veteran), a teenage Hellrider, lead the raid against the Cult of the Dragon in the Elturgard Woods and that any characters belonging to the Hellriders accompany her. Reya has been training as a Hellrider since she was twelve years old. This is Reya’s and any haracter’s opportunity to prove that they are worthy of calling themselves Hellriders.

Order of the Gauntlet
The Order of the Gauntlet is a coalition of morally upstanding warriors, knights, paladins and clerics who dedicate themselves the destruction of evil in Faerun in the 15th century DR. They are a unified group, bonded by either their fervent religious beliefs or staunch dedication to enforcing justice in the realms. To these brothers and sisters in arms, evil had to be dealt with and could not be ignored. Onthar Frume is a paladin of the Order if the Gauntlet and was the delegate they sent to Waterdeep after the increased activities of the Cult of the Dragon were discovered. He has been known to be friendly to adventurers in the past and particularly despises the Cult of the Dragon due to his past dealings with them.

Ontharr Frume suspects the Cult of the Dragon is transporting treasure to Baldur’s Gate for onward movement north. He’s summoned the characters to join him for an important gathering at A Pair of Black Antlers to discuss the Cult of the Dragon Ontharr Frume suspects the Cult of the Dragon is transporting treasure to Baldur’s Gate for onward movement north. He wants the characters to find the cult in the Elturgard Woods and capture a cultist to learn more information. He also believes characters can use cult garbs as a way to infiltrate the Cult of the Dragon in Baldur’s Gate.

Flaming Fist
The Flaming Fist, or Flaming Fists, is a mercenary company based in the city of Baldur's Gate on The Sword Coast, where its members serve as city guards. They are one of the most powerful and expensive fighting forces in all the Realms during the 15th century DR, motivated primarily by the promise of riches and the glory of victory, though they edged on the side of promoting order throughout the Realms. They are known for being incredibly fierce and brutal in their enforcement of justice and our guided by their Marshal Duke Ulder Ravengard who provides them with focus and direction.

Duke Ulder Ravengard reluctantly orders the characters to go on this mission. He reminds them that their mission to Elturel is a diplomatic one to gain trust so that Elturel and Baldur’s Gate might finally have a lasting peace with one another. He asks that they cooperate with the other factions in support of his political objective of peace. The characters accompanied Duke Ulder Ravengard on his reluctant diplomatic mission to Elturel. Upon arriving in the Kingdom of Two Suns, Duke Ravengard invites the characters to attend an important meeting regarding the Cult of the Dragon. Duke Ravengard believes working with these other factions gives him an edge in his diplomatic negotiations with Elturel’s High Overseer, Thavius Kreeg.

A Doomed Future
left-aligned image
No one quite new it yet but Elturel was doomed to fall. Something nefarious had been put into motion years ago and the city of light was destined to be drug into the corrupted plane of hell, Avernus. Chained to the very hell that it wished to escape there would be no sign of it left on the mortal plane. Only a crater where Elturel once stood marked its previous existance while nefarious plots moved forward. It would be up to a group of adventurers to find out what happened to Elturel and stop it from claiming more of the mortal plane to feed the Blood War.

Application
Who is this Avner guy?My name is Avner and I have been a player and DM on site since about 2014. I am experienced running games in many different systems although I am most familiar with D&D 5e of all the sytems that I run. You may be familiar with The City of Endless Arenas which is the Hall of Fame Game that I Co-DMed with a great group of fellow DMs. I also am a former NPSG DM and am always very welcoming to new players on the site. I do love a good combat, but I consider myself a story focused DM and get the most enjoyment out of collaborative storytelling with my players. I subsribe to the rule of cool and letting characters evolve into big moments with memorable payoffs that you can take with you long after the game is over. I have a tendency to add humor into my games but typically when it doesn't lesson the stakes or take away from the adventure. Most of all I am here to have fun with you all and if you think our styles align I look forward to gaming with you.

What I am Looking forI am looking for a group of players who will stick around for the long haul. I do not expect a lot of posts each week, or you to write the next shakespearean novel, but somewhere between 1-3 posts a week should keep the game moving forward. If you have real life interuptions that is understandable and as long as we discuss it I am more than willing to accomodate you. Things happen, but I do respect you to be respectful of the other players.

This is an adventure that will start and Elturel and hook into the Decent into Avernus where it will run most likely from first level to about 15-16 depending on the experience of the adventure. I am looking for players interested in character development and a story that evolves based on their decision-making. Players who enjoy interaction with other players at the table to help collaborate to tell a fun story through tabletop gaming.

I will accept new players to the site as well as seasoned pros but what I am looking for is player commitment and interesting characters. I will not accept any Lawful Stupid or Chatoic Idiot characters, the expectation is that you will play collaboratively with the "table" as there will be points of tough decision-making and forcing your will on the rest of the player group will not lead to a fun experience for everyone involved in the game.

Character Creation
All official character class and race options are available. No Unearthed Arcana options will be accepted and anything else will be considered on a case by case basis. The type of character you make for this adventure matters but not in an absolute way. A morally righteous character will have a different experience than one that tables with infernal pacts. They will all have their own challenges and benefits. Evil characters will not be excepted as this adventure plays strongly on morality. Despite what character options you pick this is a group game, and you are expected to collaboratively tell the story with the other players.

Characters will be starting at Level 1 with the 27 point Point-Buy Method and starting equipment based on your class and background.

These are some additional character backgrounds available. Although they are highly encouraged if you do not wish to take one of these backgrounds it is expected that you will have a tie into one of the three factions in your characters backstory.

Matthias Ismena
right-aligned image

Name: Matthias Ismena
Race: Human (variant)
Class: Paladin
Alignment: Neutral Good
Background: Hellrider
Description: Matthias is a man in his mid twenties. His years of martial training and time in the saddle have afforded him a lean and muscled physique. As a hellrider, he is almost always armed and just as likely to be seen atop Sapphire, his horse, as not. Despite his penchant for upholding the laws of Elturel and for enthusiastically seeing her enemies destroyed, he also has a tendency to balk tradition if he thinks it does not directly support those efforts.

Trait1 : My horse goes wherever I do.
Trait 2: I’m always polite and respectful.
Ideal: Nation. My city, kingdom, and its people are all that matter.
Bond: I have a mighty steed that I prize above all others.
2 Flaws: I am always honest with those of higher authority. My hatred of my enemies (undead) is blind and unreasoning.

Character's three worst fears (In Secret):

Background Story: Matthias Ismena is a fourth generation hellrider, descending from Rickard Ismena, who rode into hell (never to return) beside Zariel over two hundred years ago. While some look upon the title of hellrider as one of prestige or power, Matthias sees it as a responsibility to his family, to uphold their legacy, and to Elturel itself.

Matthias received the best of martial training from a young age, directly at the hands of his accomplished hellrider and father, Desmund Ismena. However, one area that Matthias outstripped his father was in horsemanship. Even from a young age, he showed incredible affinity toward the animals, and they him. When he was twelve years old, his father presented him with a young foal, whom he named Sapphire, on account of her eyes. Matthias and Sapphire's bond only grew as the years went on, with the pair gaining some notoriety for how devastatingly effective they were as a team in combat.

Describe your favorite D&D Moment: My favorite moments in RPing are usually when the characters (when I'm GMing) or the GM do something unexpected that spins the game into a new exciting direction, while often injecting it with some new life. A specific example would be when I was playing a paladin of Lathander and my character ended up getting corrupted and turned into an undead death knight. This was not expected, but the following scenes where I had to write him ripping his holy symbol off while it now seared his hand, only for him to crush it beneath a plated boot, are still ones that I remember fondly to this day.

A great battled issued, it was the all the followers of Bahamut against the followers of Tiamat. The Cult of the Dragons was rearing its ugly head once again.

The battle was almost dead even for a while, then an army of orcs had joined Tiamat’s forces, and it was turning the tide. It looked like evil was going to win when help came. It was The Order of the Gauntlet. A dragonborn, who was a member of the faction, knew that some of the members of the orders were nearby and took off for help. The tide began to turn and all the orcs were killed, but a few of the evil dragonborn had retreated.

While searching for survivors, they came across Rhogar, who laid unconscious with a vicious cut. Later, the lad found that half of his family were dead, the clan still lived though. In return for being grateful and his hatred of evil, Rhogar later joined the faction. He started out as a squire until he became a paladin.

However, like any rookie, he had to start from the bottom, he was an Chevall, his role an Initiate, but
He didn’t care and he learned everything he could during his training, determined to be the best and to be feared about the evil.

Describe your favorite D&D Moment: That's a tough one. I been playing since 1979. Tabletop was always the most fun, especially my first group. My cousin who introduced me the game and was my first DM, then friends, just a grand old time. Playing every Saturday between 1pm to 11pm. played from 1979 to 1985 nonstop, Character moment, well, there was two of them. My cavalier character found out halfway through the campaign that he was a King when his family was thought to be all dead. The second was my thief at the end, passed his test and became a god.

Character name: Rain Ragnius

Race: reborn

Class: undead warlock
Alignment:Lawful Good
Background: Noble
Personality traits:I am shy and soft spoken
I hate bullies
Ideal:i want to do the right thing and be a good person
Bond:I will go to any length to learn about the secret entity that dwells within me and be rid of it
Flaws:I am very unsure of myself and lack confidence
i am terrified of the being that dwells within me and the power i wield
Character's three worst fears
Personality: Rain is shy and unsure of himself due to the lack of encouragement he received from his mother and the severe bullying he endured at the hands of his peers, but he has a good heart and is well spoken and well educated. He always wants to do the right thing and be a good person, though he doesn’t always know how. He is terrified of the entity that dwells within him and what he is becoming.

Physical Description: Rain is a short young man with shoulder length straight golden hair. He looks even younger than he is and has often been described as looking like a lost puppy. He takes pride in his appearance, always wearing fine clothing that reflects his refined upbringing. When he transforms, he takes on the appearance of a ghostly undead king.

Backstory: Born into the noble Ragnius family as the son of the renowned wizard Marko Ragnuis, Rain’s father committed suicide the night he was born. This scandal damaged his mother’s reputation, but Lady Lucia was not some trophy wife. She was cold, intelligent, and vicious. The frequency of her rivals having their lives destroyed or disappearing entirely earned her the nickname, the villainess. Through her cunning navigation of the king’s court, she held on to her prestigious position. Unfortunately for Rain, she put no such effort into his upbringing.

Not once did she tell her son she loved him. Not once did she embrace him. She left her servants to raise him and showed little interest in his well-being. As a result, Rain grew up with deep insecurities and a lack of confidence which singled him out among the ruthless world of affluent children he was surrounded by, but none were worse than the children of the Rand family, Miguel, Liguel, and Castor. The three siblings always sought Rain out and brutally tormented him in ever escalating attacks for years on end. Then one day on Rain’s twentieth birthday, the siblings ambushed Rain and kidnapped him. Rain found himself tied down on a floor with a magic circle drawn beneath him. Miguel, Castor, and their father Escaldos were standing around him attempting to perform a demonic ritual. When Escaldos moved to stab a dagger through Rains’ heart, something happened.

Rain felt a cold chill run through him, and he spoke words that were not his with a voice that was not his. “You shall not harm my precious vessel.” His chains were broken, and he felt something compelling his body to move. He lashed out with green magical power, killing the three men. With the casters killed, the magic of the ritual went wild and destroyed the tower that Rain had been held in. he survived the incident though most of those present in the tower were killed.

The investigation that followed led to the destruction and imprisonment of most of the Rand family with one very unexpected exception. Lady Lucia petitioned the king to allow her to take Liguel Rand into her family. Not only that, but she proposed an arranged marriage between the only daughter of the Rand family and her own son, Rain.

She did this for two reasons. First, it would allow her to gain control of the Rand estate and fortune which was considerable, and second, Rain’s part in the events had made him the center of the court’s attention. There were many young maidens flirting with him, and his mother did not like this one bit. She saw these girls as vultures trying to worm their way into her family. By marrying her son to Liguel, a girl with no power, Lady Lucia would maintain control over her house and its future. There was just one problem, Rain wanted nothing to do with it.

For the first time in his life, Rain confronted his mother. He was incensed at her callous disregard for his feelings. He asked how she could do this to him, to not only take the woman who tormented him under her roof but to force him to spend the rest of his life with her, especially after her family had tried to kill him. His mother dismissed his outrage as childish which only angered him further. He demanded to know why his mother didn’t love him and, having an epiphany, asked her what she knew about what had happened to him. His mother revealed that Rain had been born still born. His father had been unable to accept it and took him into his study for several hours. During this time a massive storm formed out of nowhere. Then, she heard the sound of a baby crying from the room. When she looked inside, she found his father dead, having cut his wrists and drawn a magic circle on the floor in his blood, and there in the center of it was Rain, inexplicably alive.

Faced with the horrifying revelation about his own existence and unwilling to marry the woman who had tormented him most of his life, Rain did what many neglected youths do, he ran away from home. Now he wanders aimlessly, struggling just to survive while trying to uncover the nature of the being that inhabits him. to that end he has sought out the order of the gauntlet hoping they could cleanse him of the entity that lurks within him, or at least reveal some information about it and the nature of his power. Although the religious group was suspicious of him at first, his earnest personality and plea for help soon won them over. The group brought him in and tried to help but were unable to explain his condition. Though many of them were still fearful of his abilities, there as one who treated him well named Millet, a young cleric. She treated him with a kindness that he had rarely known, and Rain soon fell in love. Wanting to stay close to her, and having nowhere else to go, Rain decided to join the order of the gauntlet, putting his power to good use.

Favorite DND moment:
My favorite moment in dnd was playing a pirate game. I was the only good aligned character, a cleric and had become the captain of the ship. My character had a habit of constantly complaining to his goddess sanerea about all his misfortune and the goddess had told me that she preferred her followers to be a scalpel while I was more like a hammer who used evil characters to fight other evil characters. She didn’t like my methods but couldn’t deny that they were working.

We were being followed by a ghost ship that apeard at night. then one day we spotted a chelaxian manowar following us. We had three small ships, one of which was badly damaged. We couldn’t outgun the enemy vessel, couldn’t outrun it, couldn’t board it and fight that many people. Then I had an idea. We had an alchemist and a gunslinger, and a necromancer sorcerer in our party. we transferred all our alchemist fire and gunpowder to the forward hull of the damaged ship and set up a lantern while moving its crew onto the other two and sent over one of the necromancer’s skeletons to the damaged ship. While we sailed away, it turned and rammed the chelaxian warship. KABOOM!

Dm rolls a coffee can of damage. Then he rolls a fortitude save for the enemy ship since it suffered so much damage. natural 1. The ship’s own gunpowder ignites and blows the ship in half. Then the fog cloud of the ghost ship shows up and we hear screaming as the ghosts finish off the enemy crew while we sail away. my cleric looks to everyone and says his catchphrase, “that’s why I make the plans.”

I then spent all of my gold to raise the chelaxian ship up and have it repaired making it my flagship which I named the hammer of dawn, referencing sarena’s nickname the dawn flower and her calling me a hammer.

Name: Cracan Rutnburrow
Race: Harengon
Class: Twilight Cleric
Alignment: NG
Description: Please include an image of your character to make a token as well as a brief description of them.
Background: Order of the Gauntlet
Trait 1: I see omens in every event and action. The gods are speaking to us, we just need to listen.
Trait 2: Quick to make moral judgments that are hard to shake
Ideal: The forces of evil can bested
Bond: If we stand against evil we stand as brothers
2 Flaws:
I am driven by vengenance but that is a tool my god is happy to wield
I can rationalise dark deeds for good ends

Character's three worst fears (In Secret):

Background Story: Brought up in the forests in a small and secluded village, his kind they thought themselves far from the troubles of the world but that didn't last. Repeated visits by the cult, murdering and pillaging, brought their homes to a point that they couldn't withstand or recover from - they left. Cracan found himself as a homeless refugee, alone trying to get by on the streets of Elturel, and the only memory of sanctuary was his villages little temple to Mielikki and so he was drawn to the Churches of this new city that was now his home. He found himself preferring the church of Helm and their clerics whom allowed him to follow their practices even though they knew he did not follow their god. This was a lesson he took to heart - your choice of god does not determine if you are good or bad - one he realised he experienced when arriving here as not all religious people were kind to him when he was trying to get by.

The enjoyment of a more secure life with food and a roof didn't last long though. The destruction of his village, the increase in refugees needing help, there was evil at work and it seemed to be working hard. Cracan knew that if good worked a little harder it would be over for evil and so he started to do more. He would help those in need, he prayed harder but not for his god to intervene but to give him the strength to carry on and do more. One evening he found two bodies lying at the side of the street on his way back to his church lodging, breath fading, so skinny - how long had they been there, ignored? Something deep awoke in Cracan at this indifference he cant save the world but he can save these two and he picked them up and took them to his home. Other priests attended to them but Cracan prayed to his god all night to save them. They survived but whether from the decent care they received or from divine intervention is not know to Cracan but his god touched him that night and the next day he took that power and pledged to use if for the Order.

Describe your favorite D&D Moment:
I haven't played a real life TTRPG since I was a teenager so this place is my only fix (so maybe have pity on an addict).
I am enjoying a few games here in multiple systems and they all use dice rolls and rules but fantasy has been my favourite for playing and reading, shame TV does it so badly (so maybe help feed my addiction).
I have never, even as a teen, got to play at a high level and epic fantasy can be the best kind (so maybe help take my addiction to new heights)

To be honest I dont have ONE favourite moment as I haven't been playing here long enough to have enough memories to feel ready to make that choice. I have got the chance to play with some great roleplayers in some great and growing stories. Funny, serious, eloquent, concise - always something I wish I had thought of or written.

What I am also enjoying is how a team comes together, you have a problem and no one else can help, but then you find these people and you dont always need to hire them. Total strangers fantasy banding together to kick fantasy ass, how cool is that!

Some of my games are public so you should go check them out, real posts and likely a better idea of how I would be as a player than this awesome self advertisement

Application
right-aligned image

Name: Berrukhro
Race: Earth Genasi
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Lawful Good
Description: Berru's stature is big and muscular. He has rough brown skin and pale gray eyes. In battle he wear chain armor and carries a longsword and shield. His expression remains neutral, and its hard for people to read him in most situations. He doesn't speak often but he expresses himself when he feels sure of his knowledge. He shies away from any sort of leadership and prefers to observe situations before acting. He wishes he had the courage to face his demons and take a leadership role. He welcomes company but keeps his emotional distance from others.
Background: Order of the Gauntlet
Trait1 : I'm always polite and respectful.
Trait 2: I am haunted by memories of war. I cannot get the images of violence out of my head.
Ideal: I do what I must and obey just authority.
Bond: Those who fight beside me are worth dying for.
2 Flaws: I obey the law, even if the law causes misery. I am haunted by a terrible mistake I made in battle.

Background Story: Berru was the product of the union between an evil warlock and her Dao patron. Rescued as a baby by the Order of the Gauntlet who thwarted his parents' evil plotting, he was raised to fight for justice and order. He trained to be a fighter, and became quite skilled. However, when he finally became strong enough to lead his own company, he made a terrible mistake, one that would haunt him forever. He believed himself strong enough to lead warriors against a company of kobolds, when a kobold sorcerer used illusions to lead them into a trap. He was unable to protect his comrades, and he was the only survivor. He stepped away from his leadership position out of shame, and hopes joining in the fight against the Cult of the Dragon will help to restore his honor and his courage to lead.

Describe your favorite D&D Moment: I was playing AD&D last year as a ninth level fighter, my party was struggling against a black dragon, who killed our rogue. I rolled well and cut the dragon's head off. I am new to this site but thanks to my family I grew up with role playing games. I have played AD&D, 3.5, 5e, Call of Cthulhu, TSR Marvel Super Heroes, and GURPS.

App is done. The toughest part was the list of fears. That was hard. Had to do a search for some ideas.

You could probably flesh it out a bit more to help define why you would either be travelling with them on this mission or to describe how you joined them opposed to just seeking their help. The sentence you wrote at the end does fulfill the requirement, however. I'll update it next time I update the table.

No hard deadline yet, waiting to see how much interest there is but I will give everyone who starts an app time to finish it.

Would one of the groups use a scout more than others? (Maybe not the official rogue subclass but one that fulfills that job?)

If not as an official
Member as a resource they use?
