Haha thank you, it's always fun trying to come up with an interesting side character in a paragraph. It being Naruto characters is a sweet bonus!

If Morgantha posts a support nin of some variety, I think we will have a pretty dank balance of three melee, three ranged and three support if wodine wants to run that many groups.

They'd probably all know eachother even if not friends. Same village and all. Probably class mates. Could even pull one from a group to the other off and on . Like when they had Lee along or the mix match group in the search for Saskia. Or one of my fave when naruto helped Chino look for bugs. And told the group he saw a beautiful angle( it was henitia) ....

So, I just did a totally unnecessary deep dive into calculating the size and population of Konohagakure and came to the conclusion that the village would likely have somewhere between 3 and 18 classes of 27 students in the 10-12 age bracket. Depictions of the village vary wildly source by source and across history, so there was a lot of wiggle room. In later years, there was a much higher ratio of citizens to shinobi, so the number probably doesn't scale linearly with population.

Assuming our time period would have no more than 200 age appropriate classmates, and a 30-50% genin graduation rate, we'd be looking at about 80 genin in our cohort, which is enough to be very familiar with about 1/3rd, and loosely familiar with the rest. Exceptional students would be notable regardless of their class assignment.

Edit: Based on the manga, there was a scene where kakashi was telling his team about graduation rates: 36 can take the genin exam, the bottom 9 automatically fail, and the top 9 will become genin. So, I guess that answers that. Though, in a wartime environment, there would probably be more pressure to get shinobi in the field, even if they weren't up to the same standards. In Naruto's time, there was more emphasis on maintaining balance between the nations.

Chie Inuzuka Name: Chie Clan: Inuzuka Age: 12 Background: Leader Class: Medic Nin Intended Role: Support (Healing) Ambition: To earn the respect of her family, and to prove useful to Konoha. To protect her family (particularly her younger brother, Souta) at all costs. To see the war stopped before Souta is old enough to fight. Drive: Chie has always felt a bit of an outsider in her family. She is driven by a desire for acceptance and a strong sense of duty to her family and her home. Goals: - To be top of her class in her best subject, medicine - To make friends with her teammates - To master team combat with Yumaru Fears: A member of the highly community oriented Inuzuka clan, Chie fears being alone. Physical Description: Chie has unruly blonde hair, brown eyes, and the standard triangular face markings of the Inuzuka clan. She typically keeps her hair tied back under a scarf. Personality: Chie is one of five Inuzuka siblings. With so many children and dogs in the house, it is chaotic at home, a situation which is often exacerbated by the Inuzuka tendency to be hot-headed and loud. Chie is generally laid back and tends towards bookishness, which makes her a bit of a black sheep in her family. Though she loves her family dearly, she sometimes feels lost in the boisterous atmosphere, and struggles to assert herself. While she is the quiet one at home, at school Chie is outgoing and a bit of a know-it-all in class. She tends to be a people-pleaser, which in combination with her relaxed attitude makes her decently well-liked, though not particularly close with any of her classmates. Roleplay Sample: Chie yawned and stretched as the bell sounded for class dismissal. She dislodged her foot from under the sleeping Yumaru and slung her backpack over her shoulder, hurrying slightly to catch up with Emiko. “Hey, Emiko!” she called. Emiko turned gracefully, her dark hair swinging with the movement and offered an uncertain wave. Chie couldn’t help but be a bit jealous, and touched the end of her own unruly locks briefly before approaching. “Um, I just picked up this comic. It’s a warrior princess comic, I thought you might like it.” She dug the thin book out of her bag and offered it up. “Oh, thanks… I’ll read it,” Emiko said, taking it although she was clearly disinterested. The two stood and looked at each other awkwardly for a moment. “Cool… Well, let me know what you think, okay?” “Uh, sure,” Emiko replied, already turning away. “See you later!” Chie called. Yumaru whimpered and she looked down at him. “Worth a shot,” she said with a shrug, though Emiko’s indifference stung. Yumaru yipped in agreement. Chie took her time walking home, occasionally tossing a ball for Yumaro. When she arrived, she could already hear her mom and older sister arguing through the door. “Typical,” she muttered with exasperated affection. She slid the door open and peeked her head in. While the argument raged over his head, Souta sat serenely eating an after school snack. They locked eyes and Chie tilted her head in invitation. Souta smiled and wrapped some food in a napkin, hurrying towards the door. Chie swapped her backpack for a stack of comics and the two of them took off towards the park, not to return until dinner. Significant NPCs: Yumaru - Chie’s dog companion. Souta - Younger brother - Like Chie, Souta is relatively more reserved. The two have a strong bond and can often be found shirking their training to read comic books. Emiko - Friend/Classmate - Emiko and Chie used to be very close friends, but as they grew older they grew apart. Now Emiko hangs out with more popular girls, and while they don't exactly have a bad relationship, they don't talk much either.

Now you see me, no wait, you didn't Name: Shizana Sutokage Clan: Non-clanSutokage Age: 12 Ambition: Become the most feared and deadly assassin in history, but viewed as a myth or a legend who might not even be real. Drive: The simple desire to be the best there is at what she does. Pride and determination, and a desire to have fun doing it. Goal: Sneak up on her teachers and put a Kick Me私を蹴る sign on their backs without them noticing. While she currently focuses on that one goal, she wants to do it to every teacher. Fears: Failing to live up to her own expectations. Having a friend get hurt because she messed up. Slugs. Seriously, they're just gross! And those antennae are so creepy! Background: Trouble Maker Class: Hunter-Nin Role: Stealth monkey, soft target disposal, the face (sometimes), snarky smartass   Shizana is a bit on the short side, which tends to make people think she's younger than she is. Something she doesn't mind as it tends to make people underestimate her as well. She has a lithe and slender frame, built for quick and agile movements rather than strength or power, and the grace with which she moves only serves to reinforce this fact. Her jet black hair is worn long, though she ties it back in a high ponytail when on a mission or when she otherwise wants it out of the way. She dresses in black with dark purple trim, the easier to move through the shadows, and claims to always have at least a dozen weapons hidden on her person at all time, leaving many to wonder exactly how at times. Her violet eyes show a spark of both mischief and intelligence, always evaluating everyone and everything around her for a way to either gain an advantage or exploit a weakness. One noticeable feature is that shadows that fall over her tend to appear darker than they should, as though they were drawn to her and strengthened by her very presence. Which is actually not far from the truth.   One would expect someone trained in the arts of stealth and assassination, the very core arts of the shinobi, to be grim, serious, and quiet. But Shizana is none of these things, which tends to come across as even more unsettling. She's outgoing, exuberant, eager to socialize, quick to find a way to have fun, and seems to have trouble shutting her mouth. Until it comes time for a mission, at which point she goes deathly quiet and deadly serious. Yet still cheerfully bops her head to an unheard beat even while sneaking up to drive a blade home. Even then she'll try to find time to whisper a taunt or joke, making it seem like she isn't taking her business seriously. She's even managed to fool a teacher or two, though the more savvy among them realize that she's putting on an act to throw people off, using the arts of deception as a true shinobi should. She often makes jokes or plays pranks, though she typically has a subversive reason for doing so.   The young genin to be stood in the empty classroom, trying to hide himself against a wall while peeking out the window to watch several other students training. His eyes fell on one blonde-haired girl in particular, a student from the Akimichi clan, watching as she lifted some weights that he was certain he could never even budge. He was so focused on his admiration that he lost track of the world around him, something his teachers would scold him for most thoroughly, but fortunately they weren't in here. "She's cute. You gonna ask her out?" asked a voice from behind him, causing him to jump and reflexively stumble into a combat stance. "What? No! I'm just tryin' to learn techniques! I'm studying their uh..." the Kurama boy stammered defensively, pointing to an entirely different group of students but realizing he had no idea what they were doing. His eyes quickly focused back on the raven-haired girl standing in front of him with a big grin. He had just checked over his shoulder a second ago and nobody was there, where did she even come from? "Working on your I like big girls jutsu?" she teased, the Kurama boy instantly blushing. "You should ask her out. Maybe ask her to help you train? You need it," she teased, poking him in the stomach. "Shizana, no! I'm a genjutsu student, I train my mind! And besides, what if she says no? Or laughs at me 'cause I'm smaller than her?" he asked, a slight sigh of resignation in his voice. "So you're scared," Shizana nodded, a declaration more than a question. "Fear keeps a shinobi from getting what they want and doing what they must," she recited, a quote spoken by one of their mutual teachers. The boy didn't want to admit she was right but his expression betrayed him. "Twenty four hours," she said, moving to his side and whispering into his ear. "Twenty four hours what?" he asked, turning his attention once more to the shinobi of his affection. "I'm giving you twenty four hours. If you haven't asked her out by then, I'll sneak up on you, knock you out, dress you up in a wedding dress with all the makeup, and leave you tied up in front of her door. You know I can do it. You'll never see me coming," she whispered, leaning back with a grin to evaluate his response. "What?!? No, I don't believe you! You'd never do that, you'd be in so much trouble! And I'd be humiliated! I'd be the joke of the academy, I'd never live it and you would totally do that, wouldn't you?" he sighed. He knew his classmate all to well. He was doomed. "With a nice pink bow in your hair. Twenty three hours, fifty eight minutes, Akashi," she cautioned, walking backwards towards the door to the class while tapping her wrist where a watch would be. With a quick movement she slipped through the door and around the corner, her voice calling out from down the hall. "Fifty six minutes! Better hurry, I'm not so good at keeping time!" Akashi turned towards the Akimichi girl outside with an exaggerated gulp. He started to formulate how long he could stall, then started to think of countermeasures to Shizana's promised ambush but came up with none. Giving up he leaned forward and thumped his forehead on the window sill several times. He was completely doomed.   Akashi Kurama Akashi is a handsome genjutsu boy with a wispy form and long, blonde hair worn in a ponytail. He is notoriously shy, finding awkwardness in about everything, especially girls. Except for Shizana, largely because he doesn't really consider her one in that sense. He is Shizana's best friend at the academy despite her constant teasing and giving him a hard time. She does so not to be mean, but to cajole, threaten, or intimidate him into doing what's best for him. She looks out for him, and he helps her with homework or other studies she doesn't have a good grasp of. A classic school arrangement, really. Narin Nuru Narin is a slightly tall, skinny girl with shoulder-length black hair with a dark blue streak dyed in it. She's a few years older than Shizana, being in the academy's graduating class during Shizana's first year. Narin took the young shinobi in training under her wing and taught Shizana several tricks of the trade, but also taught her that not everything had to be so deadly serious all the time. Narin is the "bad influence" that Shizana's teachers often complain about and was known for being a trouble maker when she was at the academy as well. Narin is now serving as a scout in the war, and though Shizana won't admit such, she does worry about her mentor.   The Sutokage clan is quite small and little known, at least to most shinobi. Most students have never heard of them and assume Shizana is making them up. But the teachers and higher-ranked shinobi know the truth. The Sutokage clan are more numerous than anyone suspects, and their anonymity is completely by design. Believed by some to be an offshoot of the Nara clan, the Sutokage possess an affinity with shadows, but in a much more subtle way than the Naru do. Some believe the Sutokage do not even have any jutsu of their own, but this may just be another deception on their part. What is known is that the Sutokage prefer to be unknown. They are the stalkers in the shadows, the hidden even among the hidden. It is said they are the true masters of the shinobi arts, working behind the scenes in such ways that other shinobi aren't even aware they've done anything at all. Above all they're secretive, and their true abilities are unknown to anyone outside of the clan. Exactly how they like it.

Graduation Day First, I’d like to thank everyone for applying for the game. It bodes well that we had so many players interested in playing Naruto. Second, I am sorry that I am simply unable to accommodate everyone who applied, it would require too much time and attention that I would be unable to compensate for the increased draw on my bandwidth. Third, I have decided to take two teams, which is why this decision took longer than I planned, I had to generate a second sensei. Fourth, please do not be discouraged if you were not selected. There were no bad characters, I simply had to take who I thought would make the best team together (it is hard being Kage but someone has to do it). Fifth, this is a learning experience. I would love to run a whole slew of games like a real Kage one day, so if things go well, please feel free to reapply if/when that time comes. Sixth, applying for games is a tiring and creative process. I’m proud of you. Be sure to do something nice for yourself today.
