[D&D-5e] Tomb of Annihilation

Game Name Tomb of Annihilation Game System: DnD 5e Theme: Jurrasic Jungle Zombipocalypse Flavour: A Dash of Indiana Jones, a sprinkle of Dawn of the Dead, a pinch of Jurassic Park, a few drops of Adventure Time, and a smattering of Pirates of the Caribbean DM Style: I love me some cinematic, crunchy combat with a decent dose of RP-goodness. DMing Example: SEE HERE Projected Tone: A mix of epic, heroic adventure, moments of mercenary grit and gothic horror with a Light Heart

Plot Summary Dare to defy death in this adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game. The talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world. A small group of adventurers have been approached by members of a secretive group known as the Harpers to engage in a surgical mission that they believe will lead to aquiring valuable information regarding the source of the curse. Fate would have it that you find yourself already personally touched by this vile curse and willing to risk it all to learn more.

Game Details Tomb of Annihilation is a published 5e Adventure by WoTC Please state if you have already played this Adventure before or not Expected Post Rate: Steady ONCE Twice per Week. I intend this game to run long term so only apply if you honestly project the ability to make a long term, steady commitment. Source Books: All WoTC Official Material (not Unearthed Arcana; there is already plenty to choose from) Submission Deadline: I don't really want a drawn out application process. Basically I will be looking for players who I am certain will be active, quality players who aren't likely to flake out on me. As soon as I have 6 players that meet that criteria I will close the submission thread and get the game underway (RL usually head hunts one or two players pretty quickly ... hence 6 to begin with). Character Creation: Lvl 1, 27 point buy, standard class and background starting equipment as per PHB. Please include bonds, traits, ideal and flaw. Details can be worked out once the application process is completed. I'm more interested in seeing what character concepts people come up with that inspire me and feel like that would make an interesting mix. Special Background Feature: Please create a very close friend/family member in your character background who has died and been resurrected before. This will be used to tie your character's motivations to the main adventure. Favourable Extras: If you would like to tie your character to one of the following somehow or another then that would be nice (the connection can be as minor or as important as fits your character concept): - Another player's back story - The Island of Chult - The Harpers - The Emerald Enclave - The Flaming Fists - The Zhentarim - The Order of the Guantlet

Is this the actual Tomb of Annihilation series? Syndra Silvane and such? Or is this a little different adventure?

I'm thinking of a Human Fighter, with the alternate Noble background (the Knight). Will you allow the alternate human set up?

It's the 5e WotC adventure, at least at its core. My impression is that the adventure sets up a bit of a sand box with a main adventure thread. I'm not certain what you mean when you ask about the 'Tomb of Annihilation' series, but I'm guessing that maybe there is a earlier edition adventure series that has been rebooted for 5e? I'm running the 5e reboot, (with my own touches however), but yes, Syndra Silvane is a central figure.

Yes, anything in the published WOTC materials (except Unearthed Arcana material) as stated above.

I am currently in a Tomb of Annihilation with a very lovable character and I am enjoying the adventure thus far but would it lessen my chances of getting in if I make an equally lovable character for your's despite being in another person's?

Hmmm... I think the main thing for me is that I am aware of the situation. So, I think the honest answer would be: maybe slightly, depending on who applies, but I wouldn't rule you out. On the other hand you'd have to go into it being aware that just because something was true in one campaign, doesn't mean that this would be necessarily true in mine.

I use published adventures as a starting point and have them grow from there with my own creative juices, following the lead of where my players take the adventure.
