Flavourwise you have the swashbuckler rogue available in Xanathar's.

Tomb of Annihilation is a published 5e Adventure by WoTC Please state if you have already played this Adventure before or not I have not, though I do like a good survival anything. Expected Post Rate: Steady Twice per Week. I intend this game to run long term so only apply if you honestly project the ability to make a long term, steady commitment. I can post more often than twice per week, and would like a long term game as well! (death happens, though great games are hard to come by!) Source Books: All WoTC Official Material (not Unearthed Arcana; there is already plenty to choose from) Sounds good, I am still green to 5th and eager to learn it! Submission Deadline: I don't really want a drawn out application process. Basically I will be looking for players who I am certain will be active, quality players who aren't likely to flake out on me. As soon as I have 6 players that meet that criteria I will close the submission thread and get the game underway (RL usually head hunts one or two players pretty quickly ... hence 6 to begin with). Yup! Though I'll see how things progress before choosing his roguish archetype. If we end up in the deep jungle he may learn a thing or two from the locals .
The concept is pretty straightforward, Magpie is an orphan, grew up on the docks and streets of waterdeep. He knows his way around a ship as well as the dark alleys. He was 'raised' by a dwarven cleric named Gilbert who followed the Lady of Life and Mercy. The dwarf ran a sort of shelter/soup kitchen for homeless children in waterdeep, trying (mostly in vain) to keep them safe and out of trouble. Gilbert has been raised from the dead before coming to waterdeep. Though his name is actually Oliver, the lad was dubbed 'Magpie' by friends due to his chatty nature (and perhaps a bit of distraction by shiny things). He never knew his father and only has vague memories of his mother, but it might be interesting if one or both are still alive (and perhaps living in Chult?). In my mind's eye, dad was a sailor and mom was either a prostitute or an island native. I could see him having had encounters with the Logans (being a wharf rat, he likely knows the local shipwrights and may have run errands for Rhett, and given his less than law abiding nature, Magpie might have had a less pleasant run-in with Bernhardt). That would of course be entirely up to Anthrueser and Maskain. I'll right it up as an application later, but wanted to get the vague concept out there. I've never played the tomb of annihilation, and 2/wk is a good pace for me (I've only got one other game going also with a 2/week commitment). Weighing the options between Bernhardt being a fighter and a pally. I'll have to come to a decision at some point, but I've been bouncing since I did the write-up.
In other news, read over everybody's work. Glad to see such vibrant characters out of the gate! |

Maskain if you want, do a paladin and we could collaborate together if both accepted.

Rhett is good to go, nothing else is like to change with him aside from some other character ties. Speaking of that...
Seeing as Rhett and Magpie are of the roguish variety I can see a definite friendship there, he could even have been that guy who taught him how to live on the streets. He is a fair hair older than the boy. I can see dumb old Rhett doing that, giving him bad advice but trying to act like a big tough badass. "Look, Bern. Olly's a good kid, jest cause he's got a bit too many coin pouches on 'im fer yer liking ain't no reason to bring him in. 'Sides, you got all that working for me on the docks, right kid? Saving up to be a heroic, strong guardsman, right? Protectin' peace and what have you." |

Race: Human Background: Wharf Rat (modified Urchin) Personality Traits: I ask a lot of questions. I bluntly say what other people are hinting at or hiding. Ideals: Aspiration. I'm going to prove that I'm worthy of a better life. Bonds: I owe my survival to a Dwarf named Gilbert who watched over me as I grew up on the streets. Flaws: It's not stealing if I need it more than someone else. For as long as he can remember, Oliver has lived on the streets and docks of Waterdeep. Although he has a vague memory of his mother, the boy cannot picture her face. The memory is nothing but a feeling of warmth, softness, and an oddly spicy scent. He wears a bent ship's nail on a leather thong about his neck, a lucky charm left by his mother. Life on the streets was rough for a young lad, but thankfully Oliver had a guardian angel in the form of a Dwarf named Gilbert. Gilbert was a follower of the Lady of Life and Mercy and had taken it upon himself to do what he could for the orphans and homeless children of Waterdeep. Many children owe their lives to the tireless Dwarf who kept them fed through the long cold winters and provided shelter and warm clothing for the youngest. One Dwarf can only do so much, however, and his resources were always stretched thin. In spite of his difficult life, Oliver was a friendly child. He made friends with many of the other urchins and wharf rats, and they began calling him "Magpie" due to his chatty nature. As he approached adolescence, the boy was entranced by the tall ships sailing in and out of the harbor. He ran errands for the dock workers to make the odd copper, and soon became an accepted (if not welcomed) sight at the wharfs. When Oliver was a teenager, Gilbert became ill. He seemed to be afflicted with some sort of wasting disease, growing thinner and frailer each week. Oliver helped out where he could, but if a cure was found then countless younger orphans would starve come winter. Last edited by Tad; Apr 1st, 2018 at 09:42 PM. |

Okay, this is the toughest part - not being able to include everyone.
So thank you to everyone who applied. I feel like I have a good group of characters/players willing to get on board, and see no reason to draw out the application process any longer. I'm going to take 7 players instead of six. Hopefully that doesn't bite me in the butt down the road. So with out further ado: Avner's Korr Shalpag, Half Orc Barbarian Berith's Sskath Yiskah, Yuan Ti Cleric/Sorceror Anthrueser's Rett Logan, Human Monk Maskain's Ser Bernhardt Logan, Human Paladin Ytterbium's Dr. Anatoly Agafonov, Human Bard Dakkon's Kayle-Morgan, Human Cleric Tad's Oliver Fitzgilbert, Human Rogue If you would be interested in being included in the adventure if I needed to find a replacement in the future, let me know.
