Rick,
Go to Tools > DM Control Panel You will See your Game under Pending Game, Click the icon that looks like a pencil You'' now see the original game request. Check the box at the bottom that says Post Advert Now, and then click update game Request.

I want to create a game thread but I do not want to advertise for players.
I am hoping to transfer my tabletop game, which has been on hold for a year now, to a pbp game. I already have my players. Can I do this? Is there anything different I need to do other than what is outlined in the FAQ section? Thanks for your reply J

Yes, you can; when you apply for a game, there is the option to click and "Post Game Advert Now." Don't click that, no gaming ad. Easy as that.

What if I do not currently know the system I wish to make a game in? Would it be best to post to Misc with a poll? Or just figure it out before I post it up. (I have roughly a month to figure it out, so no rush, but still.)

You would be best off to wait and figure it out first. You may decide you do not want a game at all.
As a CS users, I would auto-create your request so it would go to the system you put down and not give you time to figure out what you want. It can be moved later, but you would be better of waiting until you know what you are going to run.

Just wanted to pop in with something for new players that might be getting used to the terminology around here.
The term DM is a catch all for someone running a game. If you see the term GM (Game Master) or Storyteller, know that it's the same as a DM (Dungeon Master), just a different ruleset than "traditional DnD." |

Well, I promised some people I would start an ad up near the end of May. However, I'm still debating between 3.5 and Pathfinder, because I'm trying to invite several friends to apply (without guaranteed approval).

Between 3.5 and Pathfinder? How is there any question?

Quick question regarding thread creation. Is it possible to create a game, modify it as desired and only when you're finished post an advertisement? As someone who has never made a game before, I would feel much more comfortable advertising a finished product.

I'm sorry, but we don't create games until the person is ready to run the game. We have had too many people with intentions on running games who abandon their games and then we have the forums cluttered with dead threads.
I would recommend you do the following. 1) Use notepad on your local computer, then store in e-mail or perhaps a online storage program like dropbox. 2) Use google docs and store the info there. 3) Obtain a CS Membership (Info Here) and use the feature A Personal Private Thread (PPT) to store links, character sheets, etc However you decide to store your information, we welcome you to resubmit the application at that time, with an advertisement thread.
