So I'm not sure if I am reading this correctly or not. Are you allowed to just straight up build one of the classes from Spheres of Might, or do you have to start as a Pathfinder martial and then multiclass into it?

The Spheres of Might classes are more powerful than base classes, so I've instituted a tax of 1 feat each time you take a SOM class. (That got lost somewhere, so I clarified by re-adding to the character build page in the link in the original post.)

Otherwise, yes, building with SOM is allowed.

(If you do it, existing players may look over your shoulder, get jealous and retrain to use Spheres more, which would be allowed.)

Applications for the open slot will close on Nov 1. If there is more than 1 applicant (just Schroedingerdude right now) then I will ask existing players to vote in the new player+character, as on past rounds.

@Schroedingerdude

HP would be 10(gunslinger lvl 1)+3*(8/2+1)+4(con) = 29

Stats OK

Skills 4(gunslinger)+3*4(alchemist) + 4*4(int) + 4(FCB) = 36
But we are using the "background skills" rule described here (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/background-skills/), so that is +2*4 = 8 more skill points chosen from a restricted list.

TYRONE OAKLY
LG Human Technician 4
Technologist | Sniper | Crowd Control
(Mood Music)

"I always enjoy making new friends!"

Skilled researcher and leading expert in the Biotech field hailing from Azerka central, Tyrone has managed to blaze new trails with a new form of living constructs, forging mind and metal to miraculous effect. Proud of his creations and wanting to show the world what they are capable of, he has taken to adventuring to test his inventions against the threats that would overcome his home kingdom. Inspired by the bio-electrical mechanism of the human brain, he watches them with upmost fascination as they learn, wondering if they will ever achieve true sentience and possibly become a race unto themselves with further innovations.

He is a rather handsome, wizened fellow with long greying brown hair and an unkempt beard. Short in stature, a little enfeebled and gangly in his old age, and rather burly in his personality. All the years of academia in his youth has gotten washed away with time, having been filtered through the lens of experience. His mind is always racing, thinking ahead to his next breakthrough and riddling through creative blocks as he puffs on his tobacco in deep consideration.

Background
A BEAUTIFUL LIFE AMONG THE ASHES
The early life of young Tyrone was typical in an overpopulated city and harsh industrial pollution; a child running amok in the streets getting into the usual trouble as his parents worked hard to eke out a living in the ghetto of the metropolis Lisanne.

Daddy Oakly was a train conductor that worked every available shift to set aside some money for his hobbies and Tyrone's future education, and Mother Oakly worked as a day clerk in a stuffy patent office on the southside. For them life was dreary, and they would often argue about finances behind closed doors, but for the most part Tyrone was happy. He shared in his father's passion for locomotives and heavy machinery, and he would often be at the dinner table when mother would gossip over the next innovations that have been filed, her finger squarely on the pulse of what the future could bring. Joyous and eager back and forth discussions between the two lovers barely containing their excitement are perhaps the fondest memories he has, seeing how the prospects of innovation could bring about a peace and love giving way to dreams of a Utopia.

He was very diligent in his studies, knowing full well the sacrifice his parents were making to provide him with a better future, and he did them proud by scoring the highest honors in all the subjects he was given. It was clear he was an intellectually gifted child, driven by Azerka society ideals and strong faith in The Consensus. Early education proved to be far too easy for him, which bought him time to scavenge among wreckages and wastepiles of factories and vehicles, bringing home his prizes to share with father as they would spend evenings in fellowship, constructing rudimentary automatia and mechanical creatures. Father's workshop was piled high with salvaged manuals and parts, and he would regale the boy of his travels across the country while giggling like boys with every new innovation.

ACADEMIC YEARS
Eventually primary school ended, and with great excitement, Tyrone enrolled himself into the Azerka Technical Institute within Estafell, set upon a path to a Master's Degree thanks in part to scholarships, but mostly in part to the massive amounts of resources his parents set aside. He was determined to do them proud, and eagerly tackled every course with ease. Engineering. Alchemy. Mechanics. Biotechnology. Electrical theory. Every advance course in sciences the Acadamy had to offer, he had asorbed with great gusto. Primary school had failed to challenge him, but now he found himself challenged by the elaborate nature of the subject matter and courseload.

He would admit that he found himself very overwhelmed at times, but according to his tutors, he was actually blowing past the material and they tried to encourage him to slow down. He would have none of it.

He never got distracted by interpersonal relationships or the social pressure of meeting new people during his time in Academy, though there were a fair number of opportunity and admirers that presented themselves. Instead, he focused himself to the pure intellectual task at hand, tackling the challenges head on with no quarter. He enjoyed his studies up until the point he came to the end of all there was to learn in his fields, crashing into the mental wall at high speed.

And that was it. It was over for him before he had begun, unintentionally finishing a 12 year program within 4 years, leaving him nothing more to go on.

THE GHOST IN THE MACHINE
Not long after, Tyrone landed himself a job as an industrial machinist, shiny new Master's Degree far too overqualified for the role he took on. He was offered a role at the Academy as a teacher, but he turned it down, stating the the nature of the role would prove far too distracting for the independent research he had planned to do, finding that maintaining this particular node of the Radiance Grid. It was an honest gig that afforded him time to think. However, he found himself bored, uninspired, and sinking quickly into a depression.

He had sunk into a routine of doing the usual 9 to 5, punching in and out as days flew by. Indeed, every day seemed to be the same, with him growing ever more frustrated with lack of purpose. He had begun to wonder if there was anything more to discover. Thankfully, Fate had come to answer with a resounding yes.

During a particularly violent stormy night, the Radiance Facility was struck by lightning, completely overloading the circuitry and causing a site blackout. Tyrone and his team spent all night repairing the damage and replacing the frayed parts and wiring when he discovered within the darkness of the Machinery a single glowing indicator bulb, anomalous, as it was cut off from any power source. The strangeness only escalated as he unscrewed it and stared at the independently glowing lightsource within his hand.

Without telling anyone, he pocketed this for further study later.

The rest of the night was spent fretting and toiling among the sparking control panels, blood, sweat, tears, swears and threats being issued throughout the night among the ornery engineers as they labored to get the systems back online. All the while, the mystery in his back pocket was scratching away at his mind. But everntually the day was won, and the Radiance Grid was once again operational.

Exhausted, Tyrone made it back home in one piece, setting the luminous enigma by his bedside as it flickered at him throughout restless sleep.

CONVERSATIONS WITH THE BEYOND
Throughout the next several weeks, Tyrone tried to tackle the mystery through any means possible, studying up on electrical fields, possible bio-lumiencent organisms, and even contacting the manufacturer for relevant complaints. Nothing could really explain why this little bulb was doing what it was doing. With frustration, he closed a book on electrical theory, and slammed it on the table next to the pilot light, sighing in exasperation.

"Well. Seems like this is a nothing burger, little guy. I think I am at a dead end here."

The light, seeming to share in his frustration, stops it's sporadic blinking and simply dims low.

Hold the Victorian Era invention. Ignore reference if this isnt invented in this worldtelephone, he muses, feeling a creeping sense of eeriness come over him. Gently he picks up the bulb with one hand, taking a drag of his pipe with the other.

"C... Can you HEAR me?"

Immediately, the light begins to flash sporadically once again, without rhyme or reason.

Maybe he was imagining things. Perhaps once more to clarify.

"Can you understand what I am saying? Blink once for yes. Twice for no."

Immediately Tyrone chides himself. How is it supposed to blink twice if it doesn't -

Single blink.

Holy ****! he gasps, quite nearly dropping the bulb.

"Oh wow. Uh. Are you... Um. Are you... ALIVE?"

After a long pause, the bulb seems to consider. All it can answer with is three flashes.

Tyrone finds the supposed answer puzzling. "I take it that means you don't know?"

Single flash.

Consensus damn me. What the hell do I do now?!?

Whatever is going on here was not something he was equipped to deal with right now. There was no precedent, and this whole thing comes off as entirely spooky.

"Okay. Well, bear with me here, fella. I think I need a drink."

He sets the bulb down gently on the desk as he rises to go to his kitchen, his head swimming long before he even partakes in alcohol.

IT'S ALIIIIVE!
This strange turn of events was the catalyst that led to the next two decades of research and development. This entity, a result of the concentrated energies of the Radiance, and pure electrical voltage, had somehow become sentient and trapped on this world in this tiny prison. It was lighting in a bottle. And it wasn't going anywhere, not without his help.

There were several experiments in the early years, involving golems, constructs, machines and even some questionable necromancy, all in the attempt to give this mind a body. All had failed, be it scientific or mechanical. For a spark of Life such as this, it would need a much more... organic solution.

Tyrone knew well enough due to his past studies that living beings were bio-electric at core. A series of organic impulses derived from the floating brain amid of pool of brine located between the ears of every creature. He had the motivation and the drive needed now to begin the task of creating a synthetic automaton from the ground up. Metal exterior, with organically inspired synaptic systems. Biologically inspired regeneration ability. A carbon based food supply to mimic a creatures digestive system. A dynamic neural lattice to help accommodate new memories. This new construct would eat, sleep, feel pain and emotions. It would think, discover and learn. He would make them more than us, he reasoned, because is that not what every father wants for their sons?

Twenty years devoted to mad science certainly does take it's toll on one's sanity. But by Jove, he did it somehow.

In the wee hours of the night, long after the other engineers headed home, Tyrone had set himself up in the hidden backrooms amid the gigantic machinery, tying cables from the Radiant Storage Capacitor along side an electrical generator he smuggled in. What seemed like a hairbrained scheme of someone driven to the brink of insanity was actually the result of painful data collection, trial and error, books filled with mathematical diagrams and equations, only to lead back here. Right where it all started.

He took the entity, now known as We, and set it within the transference node, and connecting that up to the painfully assembled construct of living metal.

"Try to hang in there, We. I know it hurts."

It was the moment of Truth. Carefully, he opened up the current to let the energies of the Radiance flow into the constructed vessel, and then opened up the electrical flow to the cathodes that were attached to it's temples. The body began to twitch wildly as electric surges played across its synthetic nervous system, and soon the lightbulb housing We began to glow brighter and brighter, all the while an evil cackle of laughter could be heard in the background.

Wait. That's me. Why am I laughing like this?

Tyrone calms himself for propriety's sake, and slowly cutting the current of both as he stares at the clock with measure. His heart falls once the output reaches zero, and it just he and We alone now in the now darkened storeroom.

"F-father...?" comes the weak metallic voice put forth by a man of living steel...
Playstyle Notes
CROWD CONTROL - Repairable glass cannon droids provide tactical defense for team, occupying enemies and soaking up damage as team comes up with strategy.

PERSONAL COMBAT - One hit-sniping for large damage, Double-Barrel Shotgun to take out weak mobs, Explosive Alchemy to do damage to clumps. Merged with Sentient construct armor for added survivability.

OUT OF COMBAT - Relies on renewable sources to heal party and constructs, keeping party tip-top for long-term missions.

ROLEPLAY - As a possible creator of a fledgeling lifeform, Tyrone keeps a close eye on his creations, cultivating their curiosity and answering questions as they discover the world around them. Could lead to both wonder and heartache. Each construct will develop a unique personality and may form bonds with rest of party, possibly becoming construct armor for each.

@SelfAwareNPC , @Panthas -- hello! Curious to see if you come up with a contender.

Have a pitch ready for Nov 1, stump for your candidate and we shall see who gets elected. :-)

@Schroedingerdude - no further feedback at this time.

Also finished and ready for review. Hopefully I'll have time if I need to correct anything, otherwise I hope this is enough to warrant consideration

For Tyrone -- the character sheet link is not shared:
Quote:
Sorry, the requested character can not be shown. Either you don't have permission to edit it, the sheet isn't publicly viewable, or the character does not exist.
As a high tech character, the only way that he can have high tech gadgets function is to be attuned to them, so that they resist the advanced-tech nullifying influences of the mana field that radiates from ley lines. The mechanism for doing that will be Consensus Oaths, which will be various commitments that are either a) paladin-like vows for law and or good, or b) vows to avoid and not benefit from various kinds of magic. If you are voted in, I'll set you up on details on how that works as its all home-brew. The net effect will be -- your advanced tech will be highly dependent on your proximity and attention.

Re: "the metropolis Eingraad" doesn't exist but -- pick one of the cities herehttps://www.rpgcrossing.com/showthread.php?t=193615. Hellbore, Lisanne, the capital Delany, Giantskull Hill, Witchangate, Slick -- all have some of that heavy industrial vibe, and would work for his early life.

An academy to study advanced technology would be in one of the cities on the central plateau, Brinn, Estafell, and Craggy Breaks. Estafell is the best choice. In the heart of a large anti-magic zone, it affords for pure technical studies.

"trapped in this plane" -- planes don't exist in this universe.

If you get voted in, I'll have to think a bit more about some of the mechanics of this build to make any adjustments needed to fit in.

A vow would be great! Right in my own alignment sphere too. I have no problem with this.

Sheet made public. Skills and Gear are incomplete of course; I just wanted to push my character out before deadline. The rest of the matters have been corrected accordingly. I love the feel of Lisanne, and Estafell fits concept perfectly.

I would also like to point out that I made sure to replace all my trapfinding skills and abilities to focus elsewhere. I didn't want to step on any party toes with role overlap

EDIT: Skills updated. Still can't make purchases until I know how rules would affect his use of magic items, or if there is a mundane equivalent for enhancing gear.
