Plot Summary Anubis' Needle stands proud in Saka's necropolis, greeting mourners as they come to entomb their loved ones in the famous burial site. Seventeen hundred years ago, while the Anubian priest Nefru Shepes began the process of rebuilding the city, along with sealing away the dead part of the city from the living and consecrating the necropolis, a stone from the heavens streaked thru the sky, plunging into the cool waters of the river Sphinx. Nefru Shepes decreed the celestial event was an omen of favor from the Master of Graves, and he ordered workers to retrieve the stone from the riverbed. Stoneworkers sculpted the meteorite into a capstone for an obelisk to be set in the city' new necropolis as a symbol of Anubis' blessing upon Saka. The adventure begins in the city of Saka, where the Asp and Crook Rivers converge to create the River Sphinx in southeastern Ægyptus. The PCs begin in Saka and are acquainted with one another. With the necropolis open by royal decree, the priests of the local temple of Anubis have been tasked with assigning sites for exploration by adventuring companies. Registering is a simple process; there are no background checks or special fees. A priest simply records the name of the company and the names of its members. Level: 1 Party Size: Looking for 5 players. Warlock: only two Patrons allowed are Genie and the Fiend (Demon Lord Yeenoghu) Names: Characters from Ægyptus should have Egyptian names while characters from Axum should have Congo-Niger names. Languages- Human Ethnic language of humans from Ægyptus is Ægyptian while humans from Axum speak Æmharic. Weapons: Crossbows, Lance, Pike, Rapier are not appropriate for this setting.   New Weapons Simple Melee Fustibalus (staff sling) 2 gp 4 lb. sling portion 1d4 bludgeoning Ammunition (45/180) two-handed staff portion 1d6 bludgeoning Versatile (1d8) Sap 4 gp 1d4 bludgeoning 2 lb. Special A sap consists of a heavy weight within a sleeve of leather or other padded material. Its purpose is to knock out creatures without killing them. Once per turn, you can use this weapon to attempt a sapping attack if you have not made (and will not make) a sneak attack that turn. This can only be attempted while you are hidden from the target or the target is otherwise prevented from using reactions, such as during a round in which the target is surprised. If the sapping attack succeeds and the target is not reduced to 0 hit points, roll 2d6 to calculate a sapping number. If you have the Sneak Attack class feature, roll your Sneak Attack dice and add the result to your sapping number. If the number generated is equal to or higher than the target’s remaining hit points, the target gains the unconscious condition. Otherwise, the sapping roll has no effect. (Constructs, oozes, plants, and undead are immune to sapping.) A sapped creature regains consciousness after 1d4 hours or when it is healed for at least 1 hit point. I like the setting, I haven’t seen many games that use Ancient Egyptian mythology as a basis to create a game. I’ll start work on a character.

Is the game structured basically as a big dungeon crawl, clearing the temples?
What would you say is the intended mix of Combat/Exploration/Role Playing?

Khnurn Name: Knhurn -- meaning Reborn of the Sun Race: Aven (Hawk Headed) Class: Warlock (Djinni) Background: Urchin Appearance/Backstory: Previously a skinny, pre-teen street brat, Khnurn was following the magnificent adventurers coming to Saka clad in their gleaming armors or rich woven robes. Seeing a small token fall and roll into the dirt, he quickly and surreptitiously scooped it up. Drifting into a daydream of being one of those amazing beings, he heard a voice in his head, "Is that what you wish?" "Oh yes, I want to be an adventurer, to do magic, to fly . . . " his imagination soaring. And, to the young urchin's wonderment and delight, he found himself marching in the adventuring party he had seen earlier. Only he was no longer a scrawny beggar boy, now he was a tall, half man-half hawk, with gleaming wings of bronze and gold feathers and yellow eyes that glowed in the sun. And, he had magical powers! And the other adventurers all knew him; he was one of them! Maybe the djinni was bored and looking for more entertainment, maybe there were conditions of servitude, but for him, the gift of the djinni was a dream come true and he would be eternally grateful. Role Play: The Paladin of Ra threw back his cloak, his armor gleaming bronze around the golden sun symbol in his chestpiece. Khnurn stalked up to him, his tall feathered body erect and his yellow eyes gleaming in his impassive face, one cruelly barbed talon reaching out to tap the Paladin on the displayed symbol of his God. Opening his beak, Khnurn's harsh voice rasped out in tones of beaten metal: "Dang dude, that's sick. . . . (giggle). That is just so kewl. "

Application Name: Ahmose Race: Leonin Class: Paladin of Bast Background: Outlander Appearance: Ahmose has a thin mane to match his thin wiry frame. He is small for a Leonin, somewhat the runt of his litter, however he has intelligent eyes. Black pools that prove while he may not be the biggest in stature, he has found other ways to impressively make up for his size. Backstory: Ahmose almost didn't survive his birth, being the small, weak, runt that he was; However, he must have had something special residing within him for Bast decided to spare is life. As he struggled to grow amongst his litter, he always felt a burning voice inside of him, a voice that taught him tricks to gain food, told him the tactics to survive his fights, and this voice even told him "as long as you can prove your worth by surviving this harsh upbringing, you will be rewarded with strength and power... I promise you Ahmose" He did not know the owner of this voice at first, though eventually he met a priest who told him that he bore the mark of Bast, queen of cats, and master of war. That day he finally knew what purpose his life was to have. He decided one night that this was the meaning he had been looking for, the reason he had been able to hear that strange voice...it must have been Bast calling to him. That next morning, he found his way to one of her temples, and dedicated his life to Bast's service. The head priestess, seeing this outward display of devotion, took him in, clothed, and outfit him, and began his training in the ways of the Paladin. RPSample

Combat and Exploration heavy bt there are role playing opportunities.

Eventually the characters will visit other locales.

Decanter fearlessly tries a running jump over one of the glyphs that no one had yet identified, and Aldur expresses his own alternative a little too late, Decanter still inadvertently activating the magic within it. With a quick but explosively loud "Crack!" the mage is embued with arcana that seemingly propels him the rest of the way through the air to exactly where he planned to land. Upon first glance, Breaking Glass only noticed that Decanter's movements were more fluid and speedy, but there were no ill effects that anyone could see nor the mage did complain about. Bottle takes a very minute amount of time to register this before carrying on with what he had planned in attempting to affect the chains with this new ring of his... Suddenly, Valamaradace is made very aware that the wizard was wearing that particular ring, and in a maddened mood swing, filled her mouth with equal parts flame and foreboding. It was only during dire moments like this did time seem to stand still for the bird-person, and in an action of unified body, mind, and soul, he breaks into a sprint. Keeping a clawed thumb over the open potion as he ran, he haphazardly activates the rune, which causes the amount of force generated by the exact same use of his leg muscles to propel him farther than usual in his beeline to the caster. Making a slight rightward arc in his approach, Breaking Glass comes around in front of Bottle with his shield held high toward the crackling incinerator-like opening of Valamaradace's mouth, his talons and feet making a shhhchchhchhhhchchhhh... against the stony ground as he comes to standstill, still vibrating with whitish energy. As small as Breaking Glass was, he had always made sure to... "acquire" equipment throughout his travels that was appropriate for his size; though the cause he was currently enacting was noble, the shield was not realistically big enough to be held in such a way by the avian warrior to adequately defend both himself and Bottle from complete immolation that could result from the distrust of this creature. It took until this moment for Breaking Glass to realize such, but his intent still stood, his gut seemingly always outweighing his brain - and definitely beating it to the punch more often than not. In the realization of no immediate death taking place, Breaking Glass decides to peek his pointy helmet from behind the shield, but is immediately intimidated by the huge, cindered grimace that hovered in the air above them and quickly returned his head to relative safety, thankful for every fraction of a second that the flames remained at a flicker on the other side of his shield.

jabar al-mufti Name: jabar al-mufti Race: khenra(solo born) Class: rogue Background: street rat traits when given the chance i eat like a pig and tend not to follow social ettiquite i ask a lot of questions ideal the low will eventually be mighty and the mighty will fall. this is the order of things. bonds No one else should have to endure the hardships I've been through. flaws Gold seems like a lot of money to me, and I'll do just about anything for more of it. Backstory: jabar was born on the streets of saka. His father was a soldier though fell in battle and his mother was left without support. She went to the pharoh to ask for compensation for her husband but was told to leave by the guards before reaching the pharoh. His mother worked as a dancer and peddler for coin. This never ended well with his mother sometimes being gone for days. He never felt fear though just knowledge that he would need to find food for himself. He would do this at first from picking from the irrigation canals before learning to steal from markets. The food carts were much nicer though when he found silver he felt like a king. He worked with some gangs trying to find his place but the feeling of missing part of himself never left. He gained knowledge of the streets and how to survive. He found his place as a pickpocket. Often he would be beaten for the crimes he committed or blamed for committing but having a group to call his own and fill the void felt right. He learned to move through the city and roof jump. His lack of fear proved useful though wisdom came later. He thanked Anubis for looking away with the knowledge that should things go bad he might guide his soul to his father. When the option for real work without needing background checks was jabar's chance to escape and become someone his father would be proud of.

Interesting! I plan to post an application. Are druids allowed? Coming up with what a druid in in an Aegypt setting would be like would be a challenge. A cleric or paladin would be very interesting too.

A Druid would probably worship Geb, the personification of earth.
