Plot Summary SHADOW OF YAMATO APPLICATION OPEN. DEADLINE: 31ST OF JANUARY 2021. About the Game Yamato, a mystical far-east land, is a land blessed by the gods. Yamato is a land of wonders, where life is abundant. But it is also a land of vicious monsters and bloodthirsty demons, and for centuries, monstrous creatures known as youkai have been terrorizing the people of Yamato. The imperial soldiers have been working hard to protect the livelihood of the Yamato people, but lately, these foul creatures have attacked more frequently, and they have become more strategized and their attacks more coordinated. Seeing that the imperial soldiers are unable to contain these attacks, groups specialized in youkai-hunting are established. Adventurers from all walks of life are hired not only to hunt down the youkai, but also to find out the reason behind the increased attacks. Of course, all these attacks are only just the beginning. You are among those who are hired. Face the youkai and protect Yamato and its people from devastation. Character Creation Name: Write the name of your character here. Make sure that your character's name is Japanese-esque or at least sounding Eastern. Race: Core races. Kitsune, Tengu, Aasimar and Tiefling are also allowed. Class: Anything Paizo (Core/Base/Alternate/Hybrid/Unchained/Occult). Archetypes allowed. The character starts at Level 3. Stat Generation: 25 point buy. Trait: Choose 1 Trait. 2nd Trait is optional. Drawback: Mandatory if 2nd Trait is taken. Alignment: Only good or neutral are acceptable. Deity: Optional. Mandatory if your chosen class is Cleric, Inquisitor, Warpriest or Paladin. Can be chosen from the list below. History: Write at least a paragraph of your character's history. Personality: Write at least a paragraph of your character's personality. Appearance: Provide both picture and written description of your character. Reason: Why do your character become a youkai hunter? Were their parents murdered by some vicious youkai? Was it because of family traditions? Is youkai hunting a lucrative business? State your reason here at least in a short paragraph. It is said that the Emperors are descendants of hers, giving them legitimacy to their rule. Uzume Goddess of the Dawn Alignment: Neutral Good Domains: Charm, Community Subdomains: Captivation, Love, Cooperation, Home Favored Weapon: Fighting Fan The goddess of the dawn and Ohiruhime's handmaiden. Is commonly worshipped by artisans, courtesans and bards. Gozu Tenno God of the Tempest Alignment: Chaotic Good Domains: War, Weather Subdomains: Duels, Tactics, Monsoon, Storms Favored Weapon: Nodachi The god of the tempest and Ohiruhime's brother. Very impulsive yet heroic. Is commonly worshipped by warriors. Takamagahara God of Creation Alignment: Lawful Neutral Domains: Artifice, Earth Subdomains: Construct, Industry, Metal, Radiation Favored Weapon: Naginata The god of creation and the father of Ohiruhime as well as the husband of Yomotsuhirasaka. Is commonly worshipped by artisans. Tsukiyomi Goddess of the Moon Alignment: Neutral Domains: Darkness, Repose Subdomains: Moon, Night, Ancestors, Souls Favored Weapon: Wakizashi The goddess of the moon and Ohiruhime's sister. The one who presides over the souls of non-evil people. Has dedicated cults all over Yamato. Yomotsuhirasaka Goddess of Death Alignment: Lawful Evil Domains: Death, Void Subdomains: Murder, Undead, Dark Tapestry, Isolation Favored Weapon: Naginata The goddess of death and the wife of Takamagahara. Used to be a good deity before her death, becoming undead in the process. Presides over the souls of evil people. Orochi God of Serpent Alignment: Neutral Evil Domains: Ruins, Scalykind Subdomains: Dragon, Saurian, Venom Favored Weapon: Seven-branched Sword The god of serpent and the enemy of Gozu Tenno. His worship requires sacrifices of beautiful maidens. Has dedicated cults all over Yamato. Kagetsuchi God of Fire Alignment: Chaotic Evil Domains: Destruction, Fire Subdomains: Hatred, Rage, Ash, Smoke Favored Weapon: Tetsubo The god of fire and the son of both Takamagahara and Yomotsuhirasaka. Hello! I just wanted to pop in and say this seems like an interesting concept and I have a few ideas for a character, so this is my way of posting interest.

I do have a quick question though, and that is regarding Cleric domains, would we be able to pick from the subdomains of the Deity's domain or are we just allowed to take the two domains belonging to the deities you presented?

For example if a character was a cleric of Uzume would they have to take Charm and Community as their domains or would they be able to take Charm and Family, or Captivation and Community, or even Captivation and Family?

Can you provide more info on the youkai? Are they a particular creature or is that a name for a group of creatures? Do they pertain to a particular type (magical beasts, outsiders, fey, etc.)?

What can you tell me about the area we will be starting in? Is it largely inhabited? Are we surrounded by forests, swamps, etc.?

The youkai are more like magical beasts, only Japanese flavor.

As for the starting area, let's just say it's a secret.

Application Name: Nakazawa, the Proud Race: Half Orc Class: Inquisitor 3 Trait: Deft Dodger, Dirty Fighter Drawback: Pride Alignment: Lawful Neutral Deity: Takamagahara History: A half-orc living among orcs: typically an unfortunate situation to be in if you're the half-orc. This, though, is not the case for Nakazawa the Proud. Raised from birth with the Orcs, Nakazawa was bullied and abused for being the runt of the clan. He was always out-shadowed by the Orcs his age and was neglected by the elders. It wasn't until he was older that he was deemed beneficial, more-so necessary, towards the clan. While his fellow Orcs would rush head first into danger, Nakazawa took his time, assessed the situation, and worked it to his advantage. Such wisdom was not pertinent amongst the clansmen. Nakazawa continued to share this foresight in other situations: handling land disputes, settling arguments, and most importantly, defending and attacking the youkai. Such acumen gave Nakazawa purpose but it also showed to the clan that he has the Orcs prerogative at the forefront of his mind. He was bestowed the title "the Proud" as his clan believed that his pride for them leads him to victory. Personality: Nakazawa holds his clan's needs as his top priority. He will stand up towards any aggression towards them until the conflict is resolved either through remediation or combat. Outside of his clan, Nakazawa respects those with similar beliefs towards brotherhood and tradition. He also appreciates the efforts of those from whom he and his clan can benefit from. Other youkai hunters, for example, are a group of people that Nakazawa respectively sees as equals. Appearance: Nakazawa stands tall in his battle-worn armor with his sharpened falchion strapped to his side. He keeps his black hair pulled back into a small ponytail in order to keep his vision unhindered. His goatee is trimmed thin as to keep his prominent fangs from irritating it. His hands are calloused and scarred from the many prior skirmishes he's fought. Reason: Nakazawa's clan views the youkai as an unnatural scourge on their lands that must be eradicated. Nakazawa's ancestral home much be protected against any threats towards its preservation. While the humans and other races may pose as a threat at times, they tend to resolve their differences with negotiations or through retreating when met with the force of the Orcish clan. The youkai are not as civil or smart and should be met with extreme prejudice.
