I updated Zoland's charcter sheet to reflect the changes (taking combat reflexes from the 1st level monk bonus feat options to replace improved grapple) and adding the background skills to Perform: Wind Instrument and Profession: Fishing. Added equipment for those skills.

Her earliest memories are not of her parents, but of the two loving individuals who took her in after said parents perished. Annette and Markus Blackwell, both of whom were on good terms with Maya's true parents. Through her adoptive parents, the half-elf gained two older siblings, Hubert and Glynda. They were a happy family, well, as happy as a family can be when surrounded by the looming threat of a demonic invasion every other day, not to mention simply being in a culture built around crusades. It was an interesting childhood, to say the least. While the majority of Maya's childhood was one note, she was introduced to an old friend of her father's. An elven man by the name of Eroan Leotoris, a scholar, well, a self-proclaimed one. In any event, he was the man Maya's adoptive parents took her to when they found themselves lacking the capacity to explain what a Riftwarden was, and why her parents left her alone to complete a mission, apparently it was of great importance. More important than their newborn child. Maya would be lying if she said she didn't hold a bit of resentment towards them because of that. To make matters worse Eroan has never told her the full story, always ending conversations with the excuse of 'It was a secret mission for a reason.' Maya's life remained stagnant until she was fifteen, her elder brother Hubert, who was 26 at the time had become a crusader much to the family's dismay. That dismay turned out to be valid when the young man perished, Maya's adoptive family took it hard, extraordinarily hard. So, hard in fact they up and left Kenabres, and Mendev altogether. Maya though, she didn't go, she couldn't. For a reason unbeknownst to Maya, she simply couldn't bring herself to leave the city she called home, it felt like leaving something important undone. With a bit of cunning, she managed to talk her way into staying in Kenabres with Eroan as her new guardian ... though the elf didn't know it at the time. When he did learn of that fact he nearly shipped Maya right back to the Blackwells. To this day though Maya still keeps in touch with her adoptive family. The half-elf's time with Eroan is what started her on the path of a scholar, well, an attempted path. He taught her about the Planes as a whole, instilled in her a respect for history, and generally just gave her what knowledge he could, without dropping any hints about her birth parents. Add onto that the help he gave her when her magic started to become more of a hindrance than a help, a fact he put down to having two parents who hadn't considered the consequences of shoving that much bloody magic into a baby. His words, not her's. Nevertheless, as the years continued on Maya continued to suffer loss, as is common in Mendev, particularly where the crusades are concerned. Childhood friends grew up, became crusaders, and came back dead. New faces entered the city and Maya would greet them with a smile only to see a handful return, some bent and broken, but the majority rarely returned at all. Through the last eight years of Maya's life, loss became synonymous with life itself. It made her doubt herself, the gods, the world, and everything else. Something she still struggles with, after all, how can so much loss be meaningful in any way? How can it be good? How can it have a purpose as everyone says? Questions the woman doubts she'll ever find answers to. Now at the age of 23, Maya works as a librarian in Kenabres doing what she can to give what little information she can dig up on the crusader's foes to them before they head off. She still resides with Eroan and he's the one who gave Maya her current career. While Maya's interest in the crusades has been from a historical standpoint for the majority of her life in recent months she's been thinking about joining, as if pulled by some outside force. As though some unfinished business is about to rear its head and she's not quite sure whose business it is. All she does know is that venturing into the Worldwound in search of the thing that killed her parents has recently become less of an idle thought, and something Maya feels she needs to do. A fact that she has brought to Eroan's attention, and in response, he's told her to be careful and follow her gut ... an unnerving response from someone who often cautions her against rash decisions. Personality:   Maya is a gentle soul who cares deeply for the wellbeing of others and does what she can to make those around her happy. Kind and compassionate Maya has a habit of seeing everyone else looked after before taking care of her own needs, which leads her to easily overworking herself. Her general demeanor is a friendly one, and her attitude seems eternally optimistic even if her smile never seems to reach her eyes. Yet underneath the cheerful veneer lies melancholic loneliness that only seems to get worse with time. Doubt plagues Maya's mind and has since she was a young teen. Despite her abilities, she's found herself helpless again and again, both to help those dear to her and strangers. Suffering has become a constant part of her life and she doesn't know what deity could support that, or what kind of ruler. In general, the woman has become disenfranchised with life as a whole and can often spiral into a rather bottomless pit of gloom. Her distrust of the world has made her slow to form attachments to others and jaded in her beliefs. Her faith in the divine is all but non-existent, and she has an extreme dislike of those who glorify conflict and war in any capacity finding it abhorrent. Contending with the ever-present doubt is a quiet determination to prevent the senseless loss she’s been exposed to throughout her life. Beneath the happy attitude Maya is a cunning individual who isn't above dirty tactics, and bending the rules if it benefits the people she cares for or wants to protect. Though that doesn't mean she forgoes all matters of lawful persecution, she's simply selective about the parts she stands by, and will always choose the option she feels would result in the most good done. Appearance:   Tall and waifish, Maya has an otherworldly delicateness to her appearance. Her skin is fair and lacks any scars, but is marred by the birthmark that decorates the space just above her heart but below her collarbone. The Sign of the Seeker's Spiral if she's to believe what so many people have told her. Though the rune is most often covered by large ill-fitting tunics that hang off the woman's frame in an unflattering way. Said tunics are often accompanied by better fitting pants, well-worn leather boots, and matching oversized cloaks. Why oversized? Maya simply finds them more comfortable and prefers people to rely on her intelligence first her looks second. When it comes to the color of her clothes the half-elf prefers neutral colors such as browns and dull greens. On the physical side of things, Maya has soft but elegant features mixing her human and elven heritage in a pleasing way. High cheekbones and a well-defined jaw are topped off with a button nose, and wide almond eyes more reminiscent of elves than humans that are a bright blue. In addition to that, she has long white-blonde hair that is often left down, though most of it is often hidden underneath a hood. All in all, Maya's a lovely young woman who doesn't want to be lovely, and does what she can to fade into a crowd.

Pitching a contender for the marshal position.

Character App Name: Sir Baldwin Valentinian Race: Tiefling (pitborn, light from the darkness, prehensile tail, vestigial wings) Class: Paladin (martyr archetype, divine bond: mount) Traits: Child of the Crusades (marshal path), Omen, Overprotective drawback Alignment: LG Appearance: The heavy clank of mail sounds as Baldwin enters the room. The holy knight's whole body is covered in metal links or cloth wrappings. Despite this, his tall, broad frame is obvious. Over his face constantly rests a heavy metallic mask to hide his fiendish features. Tainted eyes of crimson gaze through his visor. A thick leather belt about his waist twitches as he moves. While certainly unsettling, ominous even, there is no air of malice about the armored warrior. His tabard bears the crest of noble Iomedae. Beneath his mask, his mouth is most often curled in a kindly smile. While Baldwin's heritage is well known, he continues to cover himself to keep out of sight the constant uneasy reminder. Personality: By all outward appearance (to say nothing of his peculiar history), Baldwin should be an irritable, morose, or even angsty man. The initial shock of all who meet him is how he is nothing of the kind. The grim looking warrior is always bright, smiling, and encouraging. He rarely has aught but a kind word about any of his fellow comrades or crusaders, even the most irascible. Of course, the warrior presents a very different picture before the fiendish forces on the battlefield. No matter how bleak, he fights with an unflappable determination that appears to border on suicidal. That blithe single-minded abandon can cast a rather unnerving, if not terrifying, visage even for an immortal foe to face.   History: Sir Corben Valentinian and his wife, Arella, were leaders and pillars of the Mendevian Crusade in its early days. Few commanders were as respected by their troops or led them to greater gains than these two knights. To simply hear them speak, even the most cynical among the crusaders felt a stir in his breast and stood a little taller while marching to battle. Their story was among many of the tragic ones of the Second Crusade. Shrewd demon commanders plied overwhelming numbers with tactical cunning against the surprised crusaders. In the midst of one such ambush, the Valentinian knights were separated. Sir Corben searched the site of the battle for his wife over many days afterward. His search party eventually found her at a demon camp, catatonic and barely responsive. Taking her back to Kenabres, they could scarcely imagine what she went through. Her husband stayed dutifully by her for months to care for her. She eventually could smile back at him, like a dawning light after an oppressive night. However, the months also revealed another product of her captivity, a child. She never spoke little of her time there, but enough that Corben suspected the infamous balor Khorramzadeh the one who laid claw upon her. Arella never fully recovered from her ordeal. The child she bore and brought forth cost her last strength and her life. Her last moments were looking upon the twisted, tainted creature in her arms and smiling lovingly. As much as grief tugged at Sir Corben, he could not bring himself to hate the last fruit of his wife. He took the tainted baby as his own dear son and named him Baldwin. The holy warrior deeply instilled in his son the way of honor and the sword. Under his tutelage, Baldwin followed in his father's footsteps to pledge himself a knight to noble Iomedae. Corben was able to witness the proud moment of his son taking the final oath of service before the Fourth Crusade claimed Sir Corben's life. The Fourth Crusade was nearly at a close by the time Baldwin had taken up the sword in his father's footsteps. As such, he had not seen too much experience on the battlefield. The few times he had, though, encountered fiends and cultists took an unsettling interest in the demon-spawn knight. In those few occasions, they mentioned something valuable about his rare blood and risked much to capture him. Whether they were after his literal blood or rather his bloodline somehow, much less why the interest, Baldwin has yet to uncover to date.

After all, the time when the adventure starts, the characters should already be in Kenabres.

I have added a little blurp on the reason for Kenabres as destination and an insight into how Yannik is guided onwards in the campaign.

Also, after careful consideration, I have decided that we will be using Elephant in the Room Feat Tax fix. Earlier, I was uncertain, but now, we'll be using the feat tax fix for this game.

Of course! Wrath of the Righteous happens to be one of the adventure paths I've always wanted to try out so I figured why not toss up a character for consideration. That said, if you feel anything should be added or edited in Maya's application do let me know.
