[OOC] Town Square

This is the OOC area.

While you are creating your characters and getting things in place I wanted to create the Gentry Family. E.G. The second largest landholders in Mistvale. They aren't Lord Valeson or his family, so who are they.

I'd like everyone to create one family member for the clan. First poster gets to decide the family's last name.

We need:
Matriarch/Patriarch - Head of the household this would be the Surviving wife, an old Dame, an old Knight, etc..
Father and Mother: One of whom is the child of the Matriarch/Patriarch and the other a lucky villager who married in
Children: The children of the father and mother oldest would be around 18 or so...

Kria soulstealer
kria is the matriarch of the family. she has wild red hair and a fiery personality. she loves to live freely and does what she wants, often times causing problems. she also adores children.

Kria's Daughter

Winifred Silverdale (Husband's surname)
The only daughter in the Soulstealer family who successfully reigned in the fire that her mother displays so often. In order to become a notable lady with a reputation to carry herself with a quiet grace and strong presence, she carefully has crafted her image over many years. She is known to be stubborn with a cool temper, though fair in negotiations. It has been made clear in the past that she favors no one's advice more that of her husband's commoner family, believing their simple, industrious ways as a guide to 'ruling' with a clearer heart and mind. Her aspirations for being a force in the village has always been an undercurrent in her socializations and treatment of others.

Material displays of her family's wealth appear now and again, especially during village festivals that sometimes go overboard with flowing wine and extravagant visitors from afar. Her mother's influence is more apparent after such affairs and fine drink.

Winifred has a mind for business, being well read, but tends to puppet such deals from behind others. It is known she is well connected outside the village. Whether or not she has the respect and 'prestige' she believes she deserves is for town harpies to discuss amongst themselves.

Winifred tends to leave the youngest of her children in the care of her mother who has such an abundance of energy and love, ability to get out of trouble as well as in, and has her own special brand of worldly wisdom.

Magnus Silverdale was a villager until he caught the eye of Winifred when they were both younger. They began a whirlwind romance and Winifred convinced her family to allow the marriage. This was made possible because Magnus is one of the most likeable people around. He is always ready with a smile and a warm handshake, he always seems to have a funny story to share and his easy manner puts people at ease. He is relatively short, standing only 5'6" tall, but he is broadly built and much stronger than he looks. He has never forgotten his roots and he is always willing to pitch in when work in the village or the farmsteads needs to be done. In fact, he has a knack with animals and he has helped countless animals survive difficult births. He is still madly in love with Winifred after all their years together, and there isn't anything he wouldn't do for her.

Noah Silverdale (Husband To Kria Soulstealer)

Nothing really interesting about the man other than that his a merchant. If anything, his personality is the complete opposite of his wife. His more restrained, loves organizing things in the proper order, and often times has to resolve his wife's problems. Despite that, he loves his wife and children dearly.

Elden Silverdale

One of the middle sons of Winifred, at 15 years old Elden already towers over his father Magnus's 5' 6 frame but with none of the solidness of his father. lithe and wiry, his dark hair showing traces of the fiery redness of his mothers family line, but with none of the outgoing personality to match it. Elden is a very focused and serious child

Elden is exceptionally fastidious with his cleanliness and appearance, some would say obsessive. As much as he cares for his families standing in the village and farmsteads and admires his fathers hands on approach, he can think of nothing more abhorrid than getting his hands dirty in the fields like him.

This isn't laziness on his part though, at a very young age Elden was the one who first discovered his uncle, Isaac Soulstealer, after his unexpected passing. this influenced him at a very young age and inspired his fascination with the healing arts and medicine in general, an extreme bookworm with a sharp intellect he is already a very knowledgeable healer and scholar of the medical arts, which is where he discovered the concept of germs and humor's which sparked his obsession with cleanliness.

There is very little doubt where his interests lie and what direction his life is going to take, assuming nothing world changing happens to alter that

(I'll have to admit that I am a little confused as to the last name of Winifred and Magnus. Regardless, they need some children and the oldest one was named...)
Ambrose

The oldest son of Magnus and Winifred has grown up to be a brilliant mix of his parents. Due to spending much time with (the now more distant) Winifred as young, Ambrose posseses both his mother's manners and sense for politics and business, as well as his father's good mood and strength. Even though he is not as genuine and well-liked as Magnus, Ambrose is both taller and better looking than his father. These characteristics, along with his standing as the oldest son, has made it known as a foregone conclusion around the village that he is the heir apparent to the family affairs, when the time comes. Naturally, the silver spoon in his mouth (and the fact that he actually is quite perfect), has drawn jealousy from many, including some of his younger siblings.

the racial strength bonus for dragonborn gave me a 16 strength for Gavin. I wasn't sure if that was allowed, or of the 15 point max was just for buying the stat. I am happy to change it if the total should be 15.

Lorenda Soulstealer, Kria's second child.
Lorenda is a big-boned tiefling with purple hair. Where her mother is wild and vibrant, Lorenda is subdued and self-conscious. She does have her mother's temper when provoked, but is typically apologetic and regretful after the fact, unlike Kria. She does not enjoy being a member of the nobility and tries to have as close to a "normal life" as possible, going so far as to taking an apprenticeship with the local weaver. Her mother might say that she's "fallen in with a bad crowd," meaning the common folk, as her friends in the village have been supportive of the humble lifestyle she's chosen for herself rather than fulfilling the expectations of a noble.

Just looking at spell selection. Are languages going to be important in the game? Just wondering if comprehend languages is going to be worth it or will everyone just be speaking common as up until now everyone was human?

Same question as Murdoch, the racial stat boost pushed Con to 16 (i used the array selection initially), this ok or should i reduce to 15?
also, I received 10GP as part of the background items during character creation. keep or Lose?

Do you have access to the character sheet or do i need to send you it somehow? still learning the ropes on this site
