Speaking only from my experience, Types in Cypher are open enough that it usually doesn't feel redundant to have more than one. It's more of a 10% overlap than the 90% overlap a lot of D&D classes. Obviously that doesn't speak to how many players Avner wants.

Ah, another question I had that needed answering: Can you expand a bit about the setting beyond the dead gods? I partly was expecting some American Gods/Kaos-like setting of (powerless) gods living in a current day(-ish) world. I don't see much to contradict or confirm that... What's the world like? Who rules it? Why? How? Do the common people care? Do they stay in contact? What type of buildings do people live in? How habitable is the world? ...

Babbage Turing is a Mechanical Savior who Fuses Flesh and Steel. Name: Babbage "Babs"Turing Type: Savior Descriptor: Mechanical Focus: Fuses Flesh and Steel Description: To a cursory glance, Babs looks much as he once did, though only to a cursory glance. Much of the right side of his face closely mimics his normal flesh, but it does not move quite right and his unblinking eye seems... uncanny. Large portions of his body have been similarly rebuilt, both those that are visible to the naked eye and others hidden beneath his skin. Age: 30 Background: Babs had an easy childhood. His parents were wealthy and doted on him, indulging his whims and fancies while rarely asking much of anything from him. And so when he decided that he simply must go mountain climbing in late autumn they found him a foolhardy guide to take him up. Of the seven men who left that day, he was the only one who made it back alive, and he was... changed. Motivations: I will make the lame walk, the blind see, and the deaf hear. Those beaten and broken shall be remade, and be whole once more. Connection to the Fallen: Growing up, Babs only ever paid lip service to the gods, if that. There were other much greater concerns, such as the latest fashions, the next ball and gossip about who was doing what and with whom. But then he met a true servant of the Fallen and was remade in their image. Writing Sample: The avalanche had come on suddenly and without warning. A roaring, white wave that rushed down the mountain at them like nothing he had ever experienced before. it just picked the whole climbing team up and tossed them as it chose. He immediately lost track of which way was even up let alone where the others were as he was bashed and battered across the landscape. When he finally came to rest, he was beyond pain with the damage so severe that he simply fell strait into shock. As the world started to go black, he was shocked to hear a crisp clear voice say, "Query, you are in need of repair?" Then, something impossible floated into his peripheral vision, an almost egg-shaped clockwork contraption, with strange elongated limbs dangling down below it as it hovered there. "Repeat, you are in need of repair?" Despite how crazy this whole situation was, he suddenly realized that he wanted to live and so desperately grunted, "Heh...Help." The thing floated closer and said, "Assistance requested. Initiating repairs." it then touched him and all of the excruciating pain that he hadn't even realized he was experiencing was suddenly gone and replaced with a blissful peace the likes of which he had never known. As darkness again began to take him he heard the thing's voice say "Warning! Warning! System failure imminent Additional repairs necessary. Commencing full integration for life support functions."

This game looks amazing, and I love the Cypher system (and I have this sourcebook), but I'm resisting making an application because sadly I don't think I could fit in another game. Enjoy!
