Kleva the Cleaver Name: Kleva Age: 25 Sex: Female Race: Human Class: Fighter (Ranger?) Physical Description: Kleva is small but it has been said that she walks tall. She only stands 5’5 and weighs if she is lucky 125 lbs. Years of hard living have left her muscles toned and by the way she carried herself, she seems like a taut wire. She steps lightly with her green eyes constantly scanning her surroundings at all times. She has long dreadlocked hair that hangs loose about her shoulders and her caramel colored skin has a healthy glow that comes from spending all of her time outdoors. She wears hide clothing with a wolf skin cloak upon her back. Background: Kleva hails from The Ride, north of the Dragonspine Mountains. There she lived the peaceful life of a Varm barbarian, living in time with the seasons. The peace was at times shattered when war came from the Vaegould tribe. Then Kleva would meet axe with axe and fight alongside the men of the Varm. In the heat of battle, Kleva would become a whirling dervish, dealing death from every direction, near or far. While she relished peace she was most alive when dealing death to her enemies.   Roleplay Sample: Kleva Kleva slowly made her way into the city of Thentia. Her journey from the plains of The Ride had been anything but easy and she carried the dust and dirt of the road heavily upon her. She had spent many days dodging orc scouts and more than once she had spied hill giants lumbering in the distance. The Varm warrior had never traveled away from her tribe before, but this journey was ordained and could not be refused. The moon had spoken to her, without words, in her moment of dire need and Kleva knew that she must travel to the land of the weak ones and seek out the great white temple. There, Kleva would give proper thanks and repay the life debt owed. Only then could she return to her people with her honor intact. The savage warrior’s keen eyes scanned skyward as she approached the northern gate of the city and her breath caught in her chest. Normally nonplussed, Kleva found herself staring in wonder at the towering structures that encompassed the city of Thentia. She had never seen a building of any sort larger than the ceremonial tents carried by her nomadic people. Here, in Thentia, Kleva was confronted by stone and wood buildings, one, two even three stories high. She stood in the middle of the road, looking about her in wonder as a sea of indifferent people surged around her. As Kleva took in the wonders of the civilized world for the first time, she couldn’t help but notice the overwhelming stench of waste and sweat that permeated the air. Her nose wrinkled in disgust and she found herself spinning around, the constant noise sounding deafening to her sensitive ears. Kleva stood at the entrance to the city, her head in her hands, taking deep breaths to calm herself. I cannot turn around...they are weak...I am of the strong. Slowly she raised her head and to her amazement saw a glowing ball of light in the distance. A small moon...yes...the Moon Goddess speaks to me again. Kleva moved to continue her journey into the city when she noticed a group of men staring at her. Kleva’s uncertainty vanished in an instant and her hand immediately darted to the finely wrought scimitar that hung loosely on her right side as one of the men dared approach her. Her lips curled into a sneer and she quickly fell back into a defensive stance, her left leg and arm forward, her eyes darting about her, searching for hidden danger. “You will not touch me weak one…”

Its not vastly different from 5e, the main difference is that there are no spell lists for each class, there's either arcane or divine spells (bards take from arcane), and although there's no concept of spell slots there are a limited number of spells you can cast between rests.

In addition bards do not get access to spells until 2nd level.

Sticky fingers and Light feet: Name: Brissa Thimblehatch Race: Halfling Class: Rogue Alignment: Chaotic Good Gender: Female Age: 18 years old Appearance: Brissa stands around 3 feet tall and weighs barely thirty pounds. Her frame is lithe and agile. She has a wild mess of dark brown hair and golden brown eyes. She likes to wear many rings on her fingers and earrings in her ears. Of her earrings, she has a little star of Mystra and a cornucopia for Chauntea beside a whimsical unicorn earring and silver stud. She wears leather armor and keeps all her gear secured tightly to her small person so it doesn't get caught up or rattle noisfully. Personality: Brissa is quick to smile and have a good time, sometimes finding a joke or humor in some of the more dire situations. She tries to lighten the mood whenever it goes dark or somber. She can be wily and enterprising and tends to pocket little objects and trinkets when she thinks no one is watching, evident by her random amounts of jewelry. Backstory: When Brissa was very young, her father was a cobbler but then he got the Trembles and couldn't work. It wasn't long after that that he passed away. Brissa and her mother were left alone in the shambles of the slums where they lived. Brissa couldn't find work and resorted to meandering through large crowds and picking pockets. It was found that while crime doesn't pay, that only applies if you get caught, and Brissa made sure she never got caught. She was light on her feet and stealthy to boot. She made sure that despite living in what qualified as barely a hovel, they always had food on the table, even if it was just a loaf of bread. One day, Brissa got wind from some of her thief friends that there was a noble lord in town and he had brought a whole lot of treasure into the city and stored it in the governor's vault and they had a map. She had to pay for it but she got the map and was going to make her and her mother rich. In pulling off the heist, she didn't get caught but the governor saw her face and that was enough to end her up on wanted posters. She was forced to leave the city and take to the open road. She did so in a company of adventurers until they parted ways. While traveling alone, a mist swept her into some faraway place where the shadows drive fear into her heart and make her miss her mother especially much. RP Sample: It was the first night that she had slept completely outside. Sure, she lived in a hovel most of her life but that wasn't wholly outside ...and exposed. She had shipped out with this adventuring party just a day ago, 'It was going so well.' she thought sarcastically. At least, she knew her abilities, her quick fingers and light feet would come in handy to them. She rolled over in her bedroll and let out a sigh through her lips, "Pbbbt." and that is when the slight glimmer, a sparkle caught her eye, something shiny? A ring resting ever so neatly on the finger of her party member, the elf sorceress. It would be so easy, he feels cramps in her fingers, like restless cramps, she wiggles her fingers but the cramps don't go away, "It's just a ring." she whispers as she reaches up and ever so delicately slides the ring off the woman's finger and rolls it into her palm. She rolls over and slips it on her own finger then wiggles her fingers a bit to catch the gleam of the firelight on the ring. Satisfied with her handywork and her new ring, she closes her hand and holds it close to her chest with a happy little grin.

Is there a thread where we can roll our stats yet, just to get a feel for our capabilities? Also, Barbarians aren't a thing in 2e?

I don't have a forum yet unfortunately, as soon as I have one I'll direct you over to it to roll dice.

And correct, there are no barbarians as main classes in 2e. I believe that it is a kit option available in the complete series of handbooks and I may, at some point in the future, open that source up but for now I'd rather keep it to the basics for ease of learning.

There is something I would Like to Ask. I read that some classes have some abilities requirements. What if by per chance the abilities rolls are so bad that it does not allow him to pick that class. You will do as the book says and give the minimum requirement or you will allow him to roll until having at least some of or the needed rolls fulfills the requirements?

They do, and if you have a specific class in mind and you don't meet those rolls I will allow you to up your ability scores to meet the class minimum.

Name: Marcus Blackwell
Race: Human

Appearance: Marcus is a human male in his early twenties. He keep a meticulous approach to his appearance with an eye for detail when it comes to his facial hair. He typically wears the attire a noble might wear to a fencing duel, both for fashion, but also because Marcus believes the best way for a would be wizard to be killed is to dress the part, so he does everything he can to obfuscate his abilities, wearing a decretive rapier and a bandolier of throwing knives to imply a more roguish skillset.

Personality: Marcus is driven by a lust for power. While not cruel or kind to either extent he will not l morals get in the way of achieving his goals. That does not mean he will go out of his way to stab a comrade in the back, nor act maliciously when he could be kind as he often finds building a façade of generosity is more beneficial in the long run.

Backstory: Marcus was born to a humble but loving family of farmers. He grew up discontented with his lot in life. His brothers and sister were all too happy to take up their parent's farm, but Marcus believed himself destined for more. Stories told by his parents at bedtime had suggested to Marcus that the only true power could be wielded by gods and wizards, and while his ambition might suggest the path to god-hood, he would settle for being a wizard. As soon as he was able, he ran away from home at the tender age of twelve to seek out a potential master. He was turned away time and again. Eventually he perfected what he believed was a better persona for an aspiring apprentice. This bushy-eye and magic loving approach was enough to talk an aging mage to take him in as his apprentice. Despite his power-hungry nature Marcus was willing to play the long game when it came to gaining power and so he upheld his deception until he deemed himself to have gained all that he could from the senile old spellcaster. He took something that he believed would not be missed and set out to grow his talents in the arcane.

RP Sample The branches caught at his coat as he dashed through the close, dark woods. The snap and snarl of the pack of beasts behind him urged his well-fitted boots on faster until he had enough distance to risk climbing a tree. Marcus folded his legs as he sat casually on the branch, only a few feet from certain death. He wouldn't give the creatures the pleasure of seeing him squirm. Deep in his mind Marcus sank, drawing form the emblem that was the essence of magic, the representation of the magic etched through study in his mind. His hands began with weave in gestures meant to draw forth and shape the very stuff of magic from the ether. Marcus spoke the words of power in a rich baritone, practiced pronunciation echoing resonantly through the darkness beneath the canopy of leaves. One by one the pack of wolves dropped to the ground around the trunk of the tree. Not only had his quick thinking bought him time cast his magic, but it had also caused the wolves to pack (He chuckled to himself at his choice of words) themselves around the trunk letting them fall within the radius of his spell. Marcus brushed off the bark from his clothes, sniffing at a tear in his cloak, and set off in his previous direction, slumbering beasts left unaware of their prey's escape.

I'm hoping to sweep through applications this weekend all things being equal. In the meantime I certainly have enough players to proceed with this game, so I will keep this ad thread open for another couple of weeks, until Friday 20th September to see if anyone else wants to throw in an application.

I have an absolute ton of the stuff myself, but sadly what I have now is only really the tip of what I used to have. Back in my youth when I was nowhere near as wise as I am now I got a phone call off my mum after I’d moved out to ask if it was ok to chuck all my old stuff out I’d left there. If only the me I am now had answered the call rather than the me I was then and the world would be a better place .

Still, I still have loads, and what I don’t have is easily available on DriveThruRPG, but it’s always good to meet another 2e fan .

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
