Race: Human - Variant Class: Divine Sorcerer Gender: Female Age: 22 Personality Traits: I'm full of witty aphorisms and have a proverb for every occasion. Nothing can shake my optimistic attitude. Background: Courtier Bond: Everything I do is for the common people. Ideal: Community. It is the duty of all civilized people to strengthen the bonds of community and the security of civilization. Flaw: Once I pick a goal, I become obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in my life. Appearance: A striking woman of moderate height, with brown eyes and long brown hair. She is slight of build, but doesn't look particularly frail or sickly. She dresses in decent clothes with a fashionable air, though nothing too expensive, and favors styles that flow with her motion and provide movement and comfort. Her expression is usually pleasant and warm, with a quick smile and relaxed demeanor. Personality: Kerri is cheerful and bright, though not generally to the point of obnoxiousness. She enjoys people and mingling with folks from all walks of life, and loves hearing a good story. She is also curious and inquisitive, and has a sense of discretion that often makes people feel that they can trust her. On the inside, recent events have instilled a sense of sadness and loss, but she tries to keep it covered up with outward optimism. For the time being, she is content to suppress the negative feelings until it becomes more convenient and easier to deal with them. Backstory: Kerri served as a lady-in-waiting to the Dlusker family of Baldur's Gate until misfortune befell the patriar. The family backed the wrong side in an attempt to seize power of the city and wound up disgraced and all but shunned. The patriarch's sister died of mummy rot, and her husband absconded with the majority of the family's wealth, leaving Lord Norold destitute and with considerable debt. With the family all but in ruin, Kerri was one of several servants sent out to try to find the fled noble or some trace of the family fortune. She headed north, the direction that rumor claimed he had traveled, but before she could achieve her goal, she encountered an old woman who spoke to her of loss, of finding a part of herself, and of smoke and mirrors. RP Sample:"Come, Kanithar, be reasonable!" Kerri chided the merchant, giving a warm smile that usually softened the resolve of even the strictest noble. Unfortunately, Kanithar Chergoba was no mere noble. The stout Rashemi merchant folded his arms across his chest, the pouch of a belly peeking out from underneath doing nothing to diminish the aura of strength and resolve. The disdainful glare did not waver, nor did the price appear to be closer to lowering. "You dare speak of 'reasonable' to me, Kerri?" the merchant retorted, arching a thick black eyebrow. "Your family has no ground in this city anymore, Kerri. No more 'special rates' for Dluskers or their entourage." Inwardly, Kerri sighed. Things had been tougher in all aspects since the family's fall from grace and status. Yes, they were still nobles, technically, but they were impoverished nobles, no longer favored by the other patriar families. And that meant no longer favored by the city. "But I'm not asking for the Dluskers, or their entourage, Kanithar," she replied, not letting disappointment or desperation so much as flicker across her features. "I'm asking for me, old friend." Touching his forearm would've been too obvious, so she simply leaned against a tent pole and gave the merchant a searching look. Holding out a handful of coin, she added, "It's all I have, and we need the food, Kanithar. I'm not asking you to support the Dluskers. I'm asking that you don't allow a friend...me...to starve." Kanithar's eyes flickered down to the coin in her outstretched hand...a good sign. He held the glare for a moment longer, then his eyes shifted to the other merchants and nearby crowd. Nobody was paying too much attention; nobody else cared about the fate of the lady-in-waiting of a dying house. With a weary sigh, the dusky merchant relaxed almost imperceptibly and gave a short, curt nod. Kerri's smile grew deeper and more genuine, gratitude shining brightly in her eyes as she handed over the coin and collected her wares. "You're a good man, Kanithar," she said with a wink as she turned away. "I don't care what everyone else says about you!" The scoff was audible even at a few feet of distance, and Kerri chuckled, making her way back to the estate. It wasn't much, but it would hopefully be enough...for now. 1) Tell me what your characters greatest achievement is. She once protected the Lord Norold's younger sister from an assassination attempt by thrusting herself between the lady and her attacker and activating her Shield spell. She then turned the lady invisible to allow her to escape, and healed the wounds she had sustained - which likely would have been fatal if not for Kerri's actions. 2) Tell me what your character’s greatest fear is. Dying the way Lord Norold's older sister did, rotting away helplessly and in agony. 3) Tell me something in your characters past that they are particularly proud of. Aside from saving the Lord Norold's sister, Kerri is particularly proud of having advanced her station, as her family was not particularly prosperous or favored. Kerri's presence at court, and her heroism in saving the heir, gained her family much status and favor, not just with the Dlusker family, but throughout Baldur's Gate. 4) Tell me something in your characters past that they are ashamed of. Kerri once had an affair with a married man. She is particularly ashamed because his wife was a friend to her, and because it turned out he was dallying with many of the other ladies at court as well.

Wilhelm is now complete. I don't often play Champion Fighters, but I can't see him being much of anything else being reborn and how he is. I think it will be fun though.
Working on the PC choices but these will likely change due to applications incoming.

“Bones” visible app portion is complete. I’ll post my pick of five other characters in a few days after characters get finalized. Hope people can reevaluate their secret picks after seeing the character.

Catching up on a few of the questions asked....
@1Skell: Yes the characters come from the same plane of existence, which is not Ravenloft. I'm happy to keep the details as vague as possible though. @silveroak: my intention with this was to wait until near the end of the application process before coming back with the list of picks. @Hiruma Kohaku: 2014 only please. I don't have the 2024 version yet (and am not completely sure I will be getting it at all). EDIT: I missed your follow up question. The group will begin play with one uncommon magic item of choice that will be approved by me prior to the game start. @Osellic: No, I don't think redemption is too vague, feel free to reach out to me via PM if you want to talk it through more. Feel free to shout me if I've missed any questions here Last edited by Vaynol; Sep 17th, 2024 at 11:55 AM. |

I think my app is as finished as it's going to get. I want to write more of his RP sample but I get too many feelings and just can't get the words to do the feelings justice.

Thank you for the chance to write up a character but I think I am going to bow out. You have many good applications to choose from, I wish you the best of luck and happy hunting.
