Name: Manuel Burnette
Class: Artificer Personality traits 2: wants to take everything apart to see how it works, overly energetic and enthusiastic Ideal: "kick butt and take names" (previously applied to paintball) Bond: Loyalty to the team Flaw: thinks of the dungeons as something like an immersive video game instead of being real biography: tell me who your character is. What did they do for a living before awakening? Do they have a family? Friends? Manuelle Burnette comes from a mixed family- his father is Puerto Rican latino, his mother is of French descent. He has always been an underachiever, more interested in games than building a life, but was good enough with machines to become an auto mechanic before the dungeons began opening. Now he tinkers with things, tries to remove electronics so they can be used by adventurers and has been trying to get his hands on some core material. To date his greatest triumph was finding a way to replace the paint in paint balls with alchemist fire and holy water. |

Name: Stanislav "Stan" Antonovych Ivashchenko Race: Human (Variant) Class: fighter Appearance: Muscuar, Heavy-Set, close cropped brown hair. Personality Traits:
Ideal: the harder you train, the less you bleed Bonds: Family Flaw: A bottle of good Russian Vodka Family: Father: Hryhorij Leonidovych Ivashchenko (decreased ?) Mother: Lidiya Leonidivna "Lydia" Sister: Zoya Adamivna "Zoya" Brother: Anatolij Stefanovych "Anton" Biography: Stanislov's (Stan's) family is from Ukraine. When Stan was 14, his mother fled to the United States at the start of the Ukrainian war. Stan's father, Hryhorij, stayed on in Ukraine. Hryhorij had been an EMT before the war started and found himself serving in aid stations and supporting the Ukrainian army. In 2023, Hryhorij's Aid Station was hit by a Russian glide bomb. The building was destroyed, and Hryhorij is presumed dead. Lidiya, Stan's mother, had been a nurse in Ukraine, but her certifications didn't transfer to the US. She eventually found a job as a Janitor at a University, as she took courses in English as a second language and Nursing to attempt to get her Nursing certification. The family occupied a small one-bedroom apartment in a low-income portion of town. Tight quarters, but all they could afford. Stan hustled to help his mother make ends meet. The heavy-set youth took odd jobs - washing cars, sweeping sidewalks - anything to bring in a little cash. After Stan had been paid for one of his jobs, a pair of homeless men attempted to rob Stan. The youth left the pair bruised and bleeding on the street. Stan's beatdown brought him to the attention of a local gang. Stan found that he could make more money working for the gang than his mother could make full-time. After several bloody and brutal confrontations, Stan earned a reputation as someone not to cross. Stan avoided official gang affiliation but would take jobs on contract for the gang. Officially, Stan was a bouncer at a club and a part-time bounty hunter. In fact, He was an enforcer for a local gang. Stan tried to maintain a low profile, funneling his money into his family, getting them into a better apartment, helping his mother get her Nursing certification, and pitching in to see his brother and sister get the education that he did not. While some may be seduced by the glamor and glory of the Dungeon Wreckers, Stan is not. The former gang member sees Dungeon Crawler as a dangerous but lucrative profession. It is no different than being a mercenary in a foreign country at war. It is a profession in which Stan plans to excel.

A point on Pavel- depending on exactly when you measure from the fall of the Soviet Union would be about 30 years before the start of the game. I don't know how or if that affects your character concept.

Tomorrow, I’ll tweak the backstory to make the family Ukrainian, fleeing the Soviet Invasion.

Name: Victor Aber
Class: Warlock Personality traits 2: I'm oblivious to etiquette and social expectations.Ideal: Sincerity. There's no good pretending to be something I'm not. (Neutral) Bond: I suffer awful visions of a coming disaster and will do anything to prevent it. Flaw: I have a weakness for the vices of the city, especially hard drink. Biography: Character Concept: A man who had everything becomes a broken, lost alcoholic. His once pristine and proper life turned upside down, he wanders in a lucid state of stupor from Dungeon to Dungeon hoping to one day gain powers for himself. |

Alright, I'm back at my computer and have access to FantasyNameGenerators.com. I've changed the character's name to Stan, fleshed out the family, and shifted to having them flee Ukraine.
Stan I'm sharing this anecdote to give folks insight into my play style and character build. I can adjust the character build if you feel it's too overpowering for the group. Similarly, if you feel that I'm not a good fit for the group or game, I'll understand. I don't normally apply for games on RPGCrossing, but this one struck my fancy. The character is new and modern. However, I've run this build once before. I'm one of the GMs on The West Marches game on RPGCrossing. We had a new GM running their first adventure, and I decided to tag along with a 1st level character. The GM was over the top, throwing too many and too powerful combat encounters for a group of 1st levels. The character, Pavel, absorbed sixty points of damage between Heavy Armor Master and the Interception Fighting Style. The character also used three second-winds and a healing potion to deal with the other damage.
