I can do that? I mean, I know about delays and readied actions in Pathfinder, but can I do that in 5E?
Edit: Nevermind, found it. So, if I understand it correctly, I can use my move action to stand up from prone and my action to delay an action, such as casting a spell, e.g. Tasha's mind whip, as soon as the dog becomes visible?

Anyway, up to you. Readying an action might indeed be the best tactic here. And don’t forget about Náre.

Regarding Náre, if I understand it correctly, readying an action actually also uses up your reaction. Meaning I cannot both ready an action to, say, cast a spell and use the dagger's counterstrike ability.

I do not think I will be able to post. I will make sure to post Isandril’s actions in this here OOC thread though. Still, they may be dependent on what Tegan will do and whether he ends up revealing or locating the remaining hound.
Now, I did spitball several ideas in this post, but most of them are out of my guy's hands (Isandril has neither the light cantrip nor any torches, I hardly think they would prefer a piece of food instead of juicy elf or human or kender and Isandril only has trail rations anyway, the hoopak's sound is a moot point as Talia has acted, the paw prints are probably no bueno since it is a shadowy stone floor and the blood dripping would probably need a Perception check and it is a long shot anyway). So, methinks Isandril will stand up from prone and either simply cast Tasha's mind whip if Tegan somehow locates or reveals the pup or he will ready an action to cast that spell as soon as the dog reveals itself. The idea is to limit its actions and thus its chances to do more damage or turn invisible again (basically if it fails the spell's Int save, it has to choose whether it will use a move or an action or a bonus action on its next turn, so it cannot e.g. turn invisible and move from its position).

Sounds good!
Let’s see if Tegan’s actions make a difference.

Tegan will be casting light on Isandril's sword as his action.

Fun facts:
1. The shadow mastiff rolled a natural 20 (critical hit) in its attack against Isandril. Its normal attack would have dealt 13 points of damage. I would have had to roll another 2d6 to add to that. 2. Tegan’s spell is successful and enhances the magic of Isandril’s sword, which now gives off bright light! 3. In bright light the shadow mastiff is unable to turn invisible and is severely weakened, making all attacks, ability checks and saves with Disadvantage. 4. Due to Disadvantage the attack against Isandril fails since the second roll was a 3. 6. Due to Disadvantage the Intelligence save fails miserably with a natural 1. Not bad for a mere cantrip and a common magical item, eh? Now, I just need FCastor to roll 3d6 psychic damage. If he rolls well, the fight is already over.

I think we should test if we can bring an item through the portal back into the real world. If so, we could actually bring a ladder back through and choose either way to go. If we can, I'd say real world, ladder to the next floor. If not, I'd say we ascend here. Thoughts?
