"I have no idea, but whatever it is, it has to pass sooner or later. Try making your way over to me, if you have a weapon, I suggest you might want to take it out as well. I have a funny feeling that this isn't going to end well." Pulling his own sword as he continued to crouch, Olly waited, preparing for the worst.

"Who is in here? ME of course as it is MY Ca..." there is a loud bang and an "ouch" sound within the cabin. The footsteps move closer to the half orc until he can almost feel the man's presence in the doorway. As if someone was actually to blame he said "What in blazes is going on here? Did you drive us into some kind of cloud bank? I can't see a frelling thing." Just then a voice sounds off to the left "Captain, the darkness has affected the whole ship. Everyone is holding still until the light comes back." Tate's footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs but he stumbles and takes a nice tumble in the dark.

Lydak silently gives a slight turn but continues to block the pathway. He waits until no one is speaking before giving response. This way he and the one who stepped past him can hear where everyone is."You want me stand guard here? Make sure no one come in to try stealing?"

A short series of virulent curses escapes from Tate as he rights himself at the bottom of the stair. "Who added that extra step?" He grumbles quietly as he climbs back to his feet. Safe at least from immediately tumbling into the ocean, he leans against the wall to quietly wait for the pain to go away.

Everyone’s eyes were squinting due to the sudden light of day. It was like being in the darkest room and then stepping outside. It was almost blinding. The captain started barking orders to everyone saying “Sighlee, have the men check all of the lines and sails to make sure nothing was damaged in that darkness. Send some people downstairs to see if everything is ok there too. I am going to check my books to see if anything like that had happened before. LET’S MOVE PEOPLE” With that he quickly entered his cabin seemingly all business now.
Sighlee turned the sailors around him saying “You men, I want you all over this ship. Check the mast, sails, ropes….everything. I want a full ship look-over to see if anything is amiss.” With that the men all started running in different directions. He turned to Lydak and then pointed to the stairs down into the ship saying “I want you to go downstairs and check the lower deck. See if everyone is ok and report back to me.” He glanced at Tate and Reia saying “Everyone is needed at this moment. Go with Lydak and help him.” Looking up over the railing to the front of the ship he said loudly “Hey priest, perhaps you could lend a hand here. Can you check everyone over to see if there are any injuries. People tend to hurt themselves when stumbling in the dark.” He gave Tate a look and then chuckled as he headed off the back of the ship. P.S. Apologies for these OOC questions in an IC thread, but I just wanted to make sure what was going on as it pertained to just this ship. Will edit this post if needed. Last edited by zevonian; Nov 7th, 2009 at 03:47 PM. |

Wanting to feel useful, the Cleric took Sighlee advice and quickly began calling out.
"Anyone who was injured, please come to me and let me see what I can do for you." Standing out in the open, Olly waited patiently for anyone who might need his help.

Lydak thinks something is amiss, but says nothing. He goes about the task of following his Captain's orders.

With the captain's odd behavior many look puzzled at each other but then turn to do as they are told. All of a sudden the ship was alive with action. One of the guard/sailor moves up the stairs towards Olly holding a bleeding wrist out to the cleric. He smiles a little and says "I don't suppose you could do something about this?" The wound is not too bad and certainly not life threatening. Still though, the wound is thru the skin. The man rubbed his head and looked a bit sheepish saying "I sort of managed to accidentally cut myself with my own knife."
Meanwhile, Lydak moved to the stairs to go downward. He glanced at Reia and Tate but did not say anything to them as they were not actual crew members and it was totally up to them whether they wanted to help or not. Moving down the stairs he found himself stopping on the middle step. There before him were the ex-prisoners all congregated on one side of the ship. They all seemed to be focused on something on the far side of the hull. A man was looking over some crates it seemed. Hearing the last step creek, the man by the crate turned to look at what made the noise. This movement gave Lydak a good view of what everyone was looking at. There, laying on one of the crates, was the man Simon. Simon's head was cracked open and blood was pooled where his head lay. Whether he was dead or not was unknown at the moment. The man who had been standing over him was the same one who had called Simon downstairs just when Simon was trying to tell them something. Nobody said a word. They all just looked at the huge half orc standing there. |

Tate's eyes go wide at the sudden flurry of activity the captain's orders provoked. Catching Lydak's eye, he nods and follows him down into the hull. A single profound and expressive word escaped between his lips when he recognized the body.
A moment later he calls loudly up the stairs, "Olly! We need you down here!" Tate looks away from Simon long enough to glance at the expressions on the surrounding men. Wonderful. |

Reia looks frightened as she is told to go further below decks when she had been hoping to reach the open space of the top deck, but she turns around and follow Lydak and Tate. "Please, don't leave me alone." She whispers quietly to them.
When they reach the bottom, she is the last to see the commotion, but when she does, she gasps and shrinks further behind Lydak.

A quick scan reveals many different expressions. The man over Simon's body is rather expressionless while others look horrified. A few talk among themselves in a corner while others just stand and stare not knowing what to do. The man standing over Simon glanced up and saw Tate and Reia follow the huge half orc. The man put both hands out as if to show he had no weapon and said "Hey now, don't look at me. We were all down here when the lights went out and when they came back on....Simon was laying here with his bleeding bleeding. I can only imagine that he somehow slipped and cracked his head on something." A few of the men that surrounded the one who spoke quickly nodded their head in agreement.
