Personality: Daradukk considers himself the strong silent type. He values action over words and thoughts before actions. He loathes weakness - including mental weakness - in others and himself. He loathes and despises the pink even more.

 

Step 1: Write or 6 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. One of these should include where they are from.

• Daradukk is from a small, secluded orc tribe. It lies deep in a forest that borders a large port city. The orcs a lived primitive life of hunting and gathering, where hunting included occasional raids on the road to the city.
• Daradukk has a young brother, Kagdar, whom he used to watch over.
• During one of the raids, Daradukk met Graya, who introduced him to a smuggling ring. They became lovers. They smuggled Whatever is considered illegal in this settingillegal goods overseas as well as overland. Daradukk managed to secure some better weapons for his tribe.
• The pinks Daradukk met during his time as a smuggler always treated him with disdain, as if he were simple.
• Someone within the smuggling ring betrayed the smugglers to a competitor. There was a battle, their boat sank and Daradukk lost sight of Graya.
• An elf by the name of Illevee found him on the beach and took care of him. She was both tough and kind, and Daradukk grew very fond of her. As he recuperated, Daradukk stayed with her for several weeks, before returning to his home village.

Step 2: List 2 goals; one should be your character's goal. The other should be a goal you have FOR your character. Survival shouldn't be it.

Character goal: to create a country where the only pinks are slaves.

Personal goal: to have Daradukk become a confidant and servant of one more powerful.

Step 3: List 2 secrets. One that your character knows of, one they do not.

Known secret: Daradukk has warm feelings for Illevee. He would not readily make this common knowledge, as it conflicts with his own views.

Unknown secret: Kagdar has joined the very smuggling ring that betrayed Daradukk.

Step 4: Describe 3 people that are tied to the character. Two should be friendly. One should be hostile.

Kagdar is not as powerfully built as Daradukk. Daradukk had to make extra sure the other kids never bullied him. Daradukk sometimes wonders if his protection kept his little brother weak. He was a bit of a spoiled brat at the time Daradukk left the village to become a smuggler. Nonetheless, Daradukk loved his brother dearly and would do anything for him.

Illevee is the only pink that Daradukk considers a friend. She was strong and insightful. She seemed even to understand the burden of not being pink. Perhaps she even knew Daradukk would one day crusade against her kind. All the same, she treated him well.

Caon is the leader of the smuggling ring that betrayed him. He is a cold and calculating individual that will do anything to increase his standing in the underworld.

Step 5: Describe 3 memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has.

When he is deep in thought, Daradukk plays with his nose-ring.

When Daradukk disagrees with someone, he is likely to cross his arms, shut his mouth, and stare intently to make his opinion known.

Daradukk is proud of being a by orcish standards, of coursehandsome orc.

Step 6: List your character's personality trait, bond, ideal, and flaw.

Trait: I face problems head-on. A simple, direct solution is the best path to success.

Trait: I enjoy doing things others believe to be impossible.

Ideal: Nation. My city, nation, or people are all that matter.

Bond: I wish my smuggling ladyfriend could have come with me to pursue my destiny.

Bond: My little brother means the world to me. I will improve the world so he will have a better life.

Flaw: I don't bother to couch my opinions in flattering words.

Step 7: List 2 things that make your character afraid and 2 things that give them hope.

Fear: Rejection by those he looks up to

Fear: Infighting between orcs

Hope: Sunsets, when humans can't see

Hope: Yddraixl's message

 

Give me a sentence or two about the other applicants. How does your character feel about those characters? NOT how do you feel about another player!

• Pilcro - This is the type of fellow that enables the pinks to rule. At times Daradukk will despise Pilcro, at other times he will want to act like the father Pilcro never had.
• Rhakkeg - Daradukk would come to enjoy the company of the contemplative hobgoblin.
• Bront - A true orc that would be a true ally, though his anger would probably need some guidance. Daradukk would be proud to fill that role.
• Small - Too scared to be of any use in any situation.
• Woppa - His heart and axe are at the right place. That booze can become a problem though.
• Baruuk - A fine man to fight beside.
• Gristle - He should be put out of his misery. For some reason, saliva gathers in Daradukk's mouth as Gristle looks at him.
• Vrazzk - Though Daradukk respects Vrazzk's physical capabilities, Vrazzk would probably get on his nerves within the hour.
• Ferocious Beast - Now there's someone to have on your side! Ferocious will make for a great ally.
• Drixual - He's capable enough but too friendly to be fully trusted.
• Haskiter - Ugh, another kobold. Weak, scared folk.
• Dirti - Wait, this kobold is not afraid ALL the time? Maybe we can keep him around for a while, see if he can make himself useful.
• Mycelia - Daradukk will see Mycelia as a project. Someone that needs some backbone so that she can fulfill her role. He'll be glad to get her in shape, by whatever means necessary.
• Ayaga - A good man and strong warrior. He has some strange ideas, but he'll understand his errors sooner or later.
• G'taot - This kobold is not that bad either. Annoying, sure, but not a scaredy-cat. Maybe there is hope for their kind after all.
• Harp - If only she would learn to shut her beak for a moment, she would be pleasant company. A bit too nice, maybe, but no one is perfect.
• Kaira - She looks a lot like Daradukk's former lover. It makes him uncomfortable.
• Nicothoe - Daradukk has never met a harpy before. She will get the benefit of the doubt for now, but she'll have to prove her worth.
• Daggonae - She's a bit power hungry, but she might truly be fit to lead. Daradukk will happily be her second in command.
• An'mal - Daradukk likes An'mal's vibe. If only he would shut up about music for a moment. There are more important things.
• Renya - She gets it. It'll be pleasant to share a drink or a battle with her.

@Tales: I would suggest looking into the official versions of the alternative Teiflings in Mordenkainens tome of foes. I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but I think those are mostly reprints of those UA ones.

Application: Laban Maverick Name: Laban Maverick Race: Tiefling of Levistus Class: Warlock Alignment: Neutral Evil (The evil lies in his sinister streak, his affiliation with Levistus and the want to remove the race of men and their allies from the world) Mechanical Background: Spy (criminal contact) Appearance: A pale man in loose robes and with a haughty, aloof expression on his sharp-drawn face. A neatly trimmed goatee and mustache surround his half-open mouth with slender lips and slightly pointy teeth. His hair is jet black and tied up in a thick ponytail making a softer backdrop for his two ivory-colored horns protruding from his scalp. Two golden orbs hang from his earlobes, glinting in the light. Whenever possible, he cleans his clothes and keeps weapons and equipment well oiled and cleansed. There is always a faint fragrance of fresh air around him, even when tobacco smoke and chef’s charcoal steak fill the tavern where he rests. Personality: Laban is a proud man. Proud of his work, his abilities, his accomplishments, the fact that some great entity has reached out for him, and even proud that he managed to leverage himself out of death, through a bargain with Levistus. This makes him often come off as haughty and egocentric, but he is in fact very aware that he needs allies and comrades to achieve his goals. He works in the shadows and knows how to play those he works together with better. While he does not publicly speak about anyone’s advantages, he is often more aware of their forces and potential, than they are themselves. 7 Step Background: Step 1: Laban was conceived by a whore in Baldur’s Gate and despite her grief that he was abnormal and not human, there was still a bond that made her deliver him to an orphanage, rather than outright taking him to the church and thereby sentencing him to death. He grew up as an urchin in Baldur’s Gate and soon became appreciated for his streetsmart skills and way with the people in the slums, so he became an errand runner for the mercenary group: The Flaming Fists The Flaming Fists was a stepping stone for a plethora of jobs involving subterfuge, interrogation, blackmailing, thieving, intimidation, torture, and even a few hit jobs. It was also during his time here, where he felt the turmoil of his arcane blood stir and he discovered that he harnessed the power of magic, to some extent. Through his work against the Zentarim, he becomes caught and swiftly sentenced to death. He sits in a prison watching them prepare the ritual for his death when he, half beaten to death and only half mentally existing, pleads to the creators of his race to find a way out of his execution. His pleading is heard by Levistus himself who promises the power to flee, in exchange for unwavering allegiance to Levistus cause. Laban accepts and soon finds himself growing in size and strength, bursting chains and stone imprisonment around him, then taking wings to swoop out of the encampment and away from his doom. Since then, he has felt the need to abide by commands from Levistus and his messengers. As he came of age, the inhabitants of Baldur’s Gate - and any other settlement he visited - became louder in their accusations and their hostility towards him. He became an outcast and started living a haunted life, taking jobs through message networks and anonymous inquiries. Step 2: Laban wants to leverage the support he feels from both Levistus and the unknown entity to make sure that the revenge against mankind and their allies will be swift and fierce. I want Laban to discover more of his bond with Levistus and I look forward to work out a balance between that goal and the cooperation between my fellow players’ characters. Step 3: Step 4: Ally, Criminal contact: Radium Canystra, another tiefling doing much the same as Laban, but having succeeded in rising high in the hierarchy of the local nobles, thereby having great power to get his messages and goods sent all over the area. Friend, Bard: Shafira Larkstrum, a God-blessed half-elf singer and musician traveling the world and learning lore and tales from afar. When they meet, it is an intimate relationship they celebrate. Much like brother and sister. Enemy, Zentarim Officer: Ewok Zorbelshaft: Ewok was once captain, but was degraded by his incompetence when Laban took flight with a whole bunch of Zentarim secrets. Now he maniacally seeks his former prisoner to get revenge and make it right again. Step 5: The memory of his short-spanned Demon-like strength and giant black wings of death and incredible speed stands clear to this day, for Laban. If only he can find a way to achieve such powers again... Laban’s hatred for humans, elves and other pure-bread pink races have him loving to humiliate them at any given chance. Death is an option, but close to death plus humiliation is even better. Laban has a way to point out the obvious for people. It can be annoying, but he rarely cares if people find him annoying anyway. Step 6: Personality Trait: Laban is always pursuing the next step towards greater power and better insight Bond: Laban is forever bound to Levistus. Ideal: Half of his life, Laban has lived in fear and under oppression. The other half will circulate around paying it back. Tenfold. Flaw: The tension of the hatred towards ‘pinks’ can sometimes make Laban oversee common sense and make hasty, often violent, conclusions. Step 7: Imprisonment. Laban does not trust his master to grant him another option to come free. (Afraid) High Society. There are snakes everywhere and what is worse: Most of them are ‘pinks’. (Afraid) Levistus is growing stronger. Once he has broken free of his imprisonment, the surge of power will be constant (Hope) The fact that there is someone leading an assault against the oppressing class of ‘pinks’; combined with the fact that some greater power is drawing Laban there, is a sign from the Nine Hells (Hope).

@Everyone -- Even though Reliq0770 said it best, I'm too hyped not to say anything myself while the deadline is less than ten hours away! You guys are killer writers with fantastic concepts, and I have just been salivating at every new entry. I can only imagine what kind of dark deals Insacrum will have to make to figure out who to choose.

Without a doubt, it was a blast whipping up a character to match the creativity here, and while I have no clue if I'll get in, I definitely hope I'll wind up crashing the same Game Thread with each of you in the future. Good luck and happy gaming!!
