"The skeletons are assuming passive knowledge religion of 16 lets moradin know thismindless beast who are apparently set to guard this room and shoot anything that enters. They are also trapped in this room because of the cave in, if yer looking to get filled with arrows like a pin cushin then go ahead, but take a look at the creatures they've slain already. Looks like they've got a pretty good aim to me and that abbey be on consecrated grounds. They not be following us there," Moradin explained over his shoulder as he continued walking forward.

The group travels as silently as possible north through the tunnel. After several hundred feet, the fire beetle activity lessens and there are fewer incidents of cave ins or despoilment of the tunnel. After going for about a furlong, the tunnel ends abruptly. A narrow stone stair against the end of the tunnel leads up to a small man sized trap door in the ceiling. A larger trap door in the ceiling (approx 8x8ft) is next to it, but without a way up. It appears to you that it was used for lowering caskets and barrels into the tunnel.

Tedd Ott explains that in older times, magic trap doors or secret rooms and gadgets were a status symbol and both the nouveau rich merchant class and landed barony competed in that regard. But for the monks at the abbey, a simple mechanical trap door and pulley system in their ale cellar was sufficient.

The smaller trap door emits a musky odor and the wood is swollen and seems stuck.

Ysuran looks at his allies and saysIt appears evil has surrounded us in this place. Do we risk staying here with the beetles, or going into Moradin's deserted home? I feel that if there is evil inside the consecrated grounds above, that we clear it out immediatley, I may not worship Cayden. But I know that he may show us favor should we do this for him. Ysuran withdraws his blade and stands near the trap door.

The Paladin thinks for a moment, then nods "I agree. If our choice is slaying human dupes who think they are doing the right thing, activating an old skeletal trap or clearing evil from a consecrated site then the third is the best choice."

Azura looked to the paladin as he spoke, her brow furrowed. To her, all three options sounded equally bad - but she didn't have any bright ideas of her own. "Very well. I fear I am not a very good shot with my crossbow, but I will cover you as well," she says, while drawing her crossbow and loading a bolt into the mechanism. Jaya watches as the rest of the group checks out their situation. She quietly walks up the stairs, lightly pushing on the door, checking it for herself. Returning to the group, she stares up at the large door. Laying her pack on the floor, she checks her crossbow and rapier, and grabs her blanket and mirror. lifts her It's Cirque du Soleil up, she lifts the trap door, just enough to tell if there's light in the room above. Using the mirror, she
Dice Perception:

peers around the room.
OOCI figure the door only needs to be open about an inch or so.

Jaya climbs up on Bareris's shoulders. Even though Bareris' shoulders stand nearly six feet, the short statured Jaya barely has to duck at all below the large trap door. As she slowly opens the door, the hinges, long neglected, squeak and whine loudly as the trap door opens a crack. The Cayden Abbey brew cellar is covered in complete darkness. Jaya's dark vision allows her to see the area around her but due to her limited view with the trap door and her eyes being barely inches above the floor, she can't see fully into the southern chamber. A rush of cool air drops from the door as well as the palpable smell of decay.

The noise has awoken something in from the south. Heavy footsteps are approaching quickly. All can hear them coming along with a sickening throaty gurgling moan. A creature enters her sight coming from the south. It's clearly undead with pale skin stretched over it's bones and a blood filled gaping mouth chomping hungrily as it moves to you. You can't see them, but the moans and footsteps tell you two more are coming after it.

Alana screams in terror as the steps get closer. Tedd draws the rusty sword he took from the display at the Green Dragon and backs down the corridor shielding Alana.


OOC--Everybody move your token where you want it to be. If you want to move further down the hall than is depicted, let me know and I'll make a fresh hall map. Jaya, you can hop down and move or stay where you are. Bareris, you can pull Jaya down and move if you want to take the decision out of her hands. With the weight of the door and the fact you are not tall enough to open it fully, Jaya can't climb up.

Ysuran pulls his sheild off of his back and stands just a few feet away from the trap door. Open the door fully and let them come to us. We shall send their bodies to Pharasma, where they can meet with their souls.
