The Obsidian Clan The Konolzo family, leaders of the obsidian clan, claims that Korama is the home of their ancestors. The clan has five powerful noble families including the Konolzo family and their current center of power is the mining city of Onaka located in the extreme east of the country. The symbol of the clan is the see image to the rightobsidian dragon head or a black asian dragon flying over a mountain, the main color of the clan is dark purple and black, noble ladies of the clan wear proudly the lilac color quite often. The clan army is feared across the country, the mighty Kirins who are an elite of women archer cavalry that have a reputation to never miss a target, the ground troops are supported by an elite of ogre and ogre mages, on top of that, the true power of the obsidian clan armies is their shugenja who are masters of dragon magic. There is a rumour that they found a way to safely practice blood magicMaho. The clan has an economy based on mining, which provides them with a comfortable supply or minerals, most prisoners and criminals are slaves working in those mines, their biggest challenge is a lack of wood supply that the clan expect to remediate by conquering the city of Korama that is near the Woko woods. The feudal lordDaimyo of the clan is currently PrincessHime Amaya Konolzo, she has a reputation to be the offspring of the obsidian dragon and a powerful sorcerer. The princess looks young, but have the wisdom of a dragon, she has little patience for politic games and incompetence. The princess is living in Onaka, her fortress is isolated from the city built partially inside a mountain, few people have actually met her except her immediate family and counsellors, she was not seen in public for years. Amaya brother Sethidor Konolzo is known to be eccentric and one of the finest blade of the clan. He is not married and had been in the middle of some drama that involved women and too much sake. Her younger sister Mariko Konolzo is one of the most beautiful women of the country, she is a member of the mighty Kirin and an archer of divine ability. She's a discreet lady that embraced bushido as a lifestyle. She's not married as well. The People The obsidian people have a reputation to keep their words and be honorable, they are very traditional and without mercy when something got in their way. It's not easy to make friends with an Obsidian, since most of them don't trust strangers and rely mostly on their family, they are known to be a bit cold. The people lifestyle is tied to bushido, the religion of the kami and the teaching of Kenzaki. Clan Noble Families The Konolzo family is leading the clan, they are allied with four families that had been fighting together since ancient time. The Obsidian Clan command the largest force of the country. Konolzo Daimyo: Hime Konolzo, Amaya Military : 225 000 samurai, ashigaru Ōji Konolzo, Sethidor Hime Konolzo, Mariko The Konolzo lead an impressive army, but their true strength are their shugenja schools that master dragon magic and blood magic. They are an innovative family that import a lot of inventions from their foreign allies such as gunpowder and invest a lot in warfare engineering. Despite their open mind about other culture, they are a traditional family that follows the old ways. Hayakawa Daimyo: Hayakawa, Hideki Military : 135 000 samurai, ashigaru The mighty Kirin cavalry is lead by the Hayakawa family. They embrace bushido as their lifestyle and are very honorable. The Hayakawa have a long archery tradition. The rumour says that Hayakawa can speak to horses and love those animals more than themselve. Sumida Daimyo: Sumida, Shizuma Military : 97 000 samurai, ashigaru The Sumida is well known for their elite Ogre troops. Their samurai are well know for been ruthless, they are the infantry brute force of the clan. Fujimoto Daimyo: Fujimoto, Tomokazu Military : 72 000 samurai, ashigaru The Fujimoto are known for their architecture miracles and work of art. Large order of monks are part of the Fujimoto family and follow the teachings of Kenzaki, they are scholars and advisors to the clan. Himura Daimyo: Himura, Taro Military : 55 000 samurai, ashigaru This family is the most mysterious of the clan, little is know about them. They command a respectable army, but at first glance, they don't have the same strength and influence in the clan as the other four families. Vassals There's nine known vassal families. Most of them joined the Obsidian clan in the last 500 years in differents circumstance. The Suzaku Clan The Atsumary family rules the Suzaku clan, with the help of the Shiba and the Yamada noble families. The Suzaku clan are noted pacifists, preferring diplomacy to war if at all possible, but lately the ambitions of the Obsidian clan and the aggressions of the spider clan changed their ways. The Suzaku clan is supported by Sunalia, a major foreign country north of Gaellya, those foreigners provide a lot of weapons, horses, troops and equipment to the Suzaku army. They don't have a large army, but they have a lot of vassals minor clans and allies that oppose the Spider and Obsidian clans. The Suzaku claim that their ambition is to become the master of Gaellya and build a new era of peace from their capital, Bakada. The Suzaku Clan has famous orders of shugenja that are well known for their mastery of fire and air elemental magic. The clan seeks to ensure their position as the controllers of magical knowledge within Yuukan and Gaellya. For many generations they were appointed by the emperor to gather and preserve all the knowledge of the empire. Large libraries can be found in their territories, guarded by shugenja, monks and large amount of magical traps. An order of samurai who had been initiated in the art of magic are the elite force of the Suzaku Clan that led battlefields, they are called the flaming dancers.

The Spider Clan The spider clan is among the most mysterious organization of the world, only few of their members are well known, they are the architect of a very complex web of influence in the country. The official Feudal lordDaimyo of the clan, Iwao Matsumoto is a public figure that rule the city of Yakachi, many people doubt that he's actually the real leader of the clan. The symbol of the clan is a big scary spider, and the colors are a mix of scarlet and dark red, members of the clan who walks in the streets with colors and symbols of the clan wear masks or have their face hidden with clothes. The truth power of the spider clan is their ability to control the underworld that most people can't see, a world where the game of the dagger and cloak is perform daily. The Spider Clan is despised by virtually everyone, with only the most corrupt and manipulative of the samurai caste finding any real value in their ranks. Secretly the clan trains the most deadly assassins and spies, this is common knowledge to thinks that the spider clan have operatives in every cities, every major temples and every Daimyo fortress in the country and beyond. The people you will suspect the less in your entourage could certainly be from the spider clan, such as an old servant, a gorgeous lover, the homeless guy across the street. The clan have a capable army, but they usually manipulates others to fight for them, and only act directly when all the pieces of their puzzle had been assembled in the shadow.

Dragon Clan The imperial Kenzaki family, leaders of the dragon clan, ruled over Yuukan for thousands of years. Through the ages, different families were part of the imperial clan, but in the last 500 years the Torimoto and the Hirakawa were the only other imperial families recognized in the clan. Fifteen years ago the clan was defeated by an army of rebel shugenja, all their Kuge were tracked down and executed, most of the samurai close to their lords committed massively sepuku, the remaining of their army were disbanded and some of the officers are still in prison. Clan Families Kenzaki Emperor: Kenzaki, Haru (RIP) First wife: Kenzaki, Yuka (RIP) Torimoto Daimyo: Torimoto, Ichiro (RIP) Hirakawa Daimyo: Hirakawa, Shin (RIP) History Legend say that they were a time that Kenzaki walked the world as a human, he was a monk of great wisdom, he created the Tao of Kenzaki and lead his people for 100 years and founded the city of Korama. Eventually, his time on the world ended and his dynasty endured for 2000 years, the Kenzaki imperial family led Yuukan the bronze era to the Samurai era. After 2000 years, the Kenzaki emperor couldn't conceive an heir and it was the beginning of hundred of years of civil war, with some period of peace led by other dynasty. Another reincarnation of Kenzaki eventually appeared when the country and the world was facing an evil of unspeakable destruction. This time, it was a woman that came from no where, Yui Kenzaki, she was known as the blood tornado. She taught the art of war to the people of Yuukan and finished the Bushido code that the first Kenzaki started 3000 years ago. She united many countries by force, created a pact with dragons and prevail with their help against evil and chaos. After her victory, Yui Kenzaki founded her imperial capital at Yutara, it's in the west of the Yuukan, the Kenzaki dynasty ruled Yuukan for another 500 years. Approximatively 15 years ago, the Kenzaki were defeated by an insurrection of Shugenja led by the mistress of the elements, a very powerful shugenja, Ayako Takahashi. She betrayed the emperor trust, blinded by her dream to create a state led by Shugenja and faith instead of Samurai and order. She judged the Samurai order decadent and of little faith, she sold the idea to the people that the kami and spirit were angry at them. It didn't end well, Yuukan broke down in many provinces and regions, the country was almost totaly burn to the ground with a civil war of epic scale that is still ongoing today.

Order of the sacred elements Since ancient time the mistress of elements and destiny was the first advisor of the emperor and head of religions in the country. The order of the sacred elements is a very old tradition, since ancient time the strongest shugenja of the country are selected to leave their clan and serve the mistress and the emperor. Haru Kenzaki was not much of a religious person and prepared a vast reform to implement a modern bureaucracy and import foreign innovation to the country. The arrival of gunpowder and science at the imperial court slowly detached people of their religious believe. Ayako Takahashi, the mistress of elements and destiny, couldn't adapt to this change and organized an uprising. She turned the people and most religious orders against the imperial family, claiming that the emperor had been corrupted by foreign influence and that the kamis were very angry. Takahashi also spread the idea that the emperor and the samurai were decadent and had given up the ideals of bushido and that this order should be destroyed. Right or not, she successfully overthrew the Kenzaki family and executed all of the Kuge from the Kenzaki, Torimoto and Hirakawa family. Most of the Shugenja across the country sweared allegiance to the new Order of the sacred elements. Former samurai became holy warriors that act in the name of the order as officers in the shugenja army. The order controls the imperial capital of Yutara and the major cities of Dalaka and Kyoro with an impressive force of religious zealot and shugenja. The other regions and cities of the country broke down in independent pieces during the civil wars that followed those events. The mistress of elements and destiny have all the power of a daimyo on her lands, she's advised by a council of four powerful shugenja, one of each elements.

Kitsu Clan The Kitsu clan was the last known clan of Air Elves whom controlled the mountains south-west of Yakashi. They were aloof and removed from the affairs of the other clans, preferring to reside high in the clouds within their mountain strongholds. Most of the land the Kitsu clan held was completely cut off from the rest of the empire during the winter due to heavy snowfall that would block the passages where non-fliers traverse. The Kitsu clan shugenja were famed as the second most powerful in the realm, their only rival being the Order of Sacred Elements. Kitsu's champion, Togashi Satsu was a legendary shugenja who had mastered all five elements, an accomplishment only shared by few such as the mistress of elements and destiny, leader of the order of sacred elements. Their style of spellcasting is a varied mix of prayers to the kami and the eight moons, petitions to the elements themselves, and the use of talismans with sacred words inscribed on them. (These talismans serve as divine focus items for all Kitsu shugenga, replacing the traditional ofudas. The spell is otherwise unchanged, though the Kitsu teaches a number of spells that are unknown to other shugenjas.) Kitsu samurai were master archers and few of them succeeded to master the niten (two-strike style) in which combatants use both katana and wakizashi to execute very fast strikes in rapid succession. To many observers, the niten looked more like a dance than actual combat, however, niten is a deadly art requiring a great deal of skill and coordination. The founding clan family was the Kitsu who ruled till it's destruction. The clan colors are platinum. Their founder was the Kami Kitsu, who some say possessed the divine blood from the elemental Air Dragon as he ruled for over 1000 years until he was killed during the clans destruction. Togashi Satsu was also killed at the same time as the clan demise. The attack took place overnight by a combination of Things the spider clan was able to obtain and use to collapse the mountain with explosions.technology and Massive sheets of flame filled the sky, preventing the Air elves from flying. Making them fall victims to the avalanche and set explosions.powerful magic. Spectators say that night they could feel the earth shake as if the gods themselves were angry as a massive fire in the sky encompassed the entire mountain top. During the time of the clans destruction, the five sisters were rumored to have been away for over the past 15 years attending various shugenga schools throughout the land. Others believed the princesses had fallen to some unfortunate end after vanishing for over 15 years. All the clan Kuge had been track down and assasinated by the spider clan, most of the samurai who were not kill in the clan destruction, committed mass sepuku or became Ronin. Okuma Clan (Turtle clan) The Kiyotaka family is the leader of the Okuma clan. They are supported by the Itou, the Nakamura and the Kobayashi families. The Kiyotaka family is the leading family of the Okuma clan - a clan famous for their powerful Shugenjas. The clan symbol represents the three pillars of the Kiyotaka family - Spiritual Connection, Dedicated Devotion, and Absolute Perfection. These three pillars have served as the underlying principles of the family for countless generations. They have both been a maxim and a honor for each member of the family to fulfill and uphold. The clan colors are a mixture of brown, black, and red. Most of the samurai, shugenja, and vassals of the Okuma clan wear some combination of these colors. The ladies often wear brilliant red dresses, mixed with subtle black and browns to accentuate their style. The most interesting factor is that the entire leading family is comprised solely of Shugenja - and exceptionally powerful ones at that. The wisest and most spiritually connected Shugenja always rise to the top, becoming true Kuge within the clan. In the Okuma clan, those who can communicate with the Kami and wield the elements are held in the highest regard; everything else is secondary. This has allowed the Kiyotaka family to lead the clan for countless generations, using their wisdom and spiritual connection to guide their every step. Although a rather small clan, the Okuma clan wield a disproportionate amount of influence. Their main base of power resides in Mikora - the city that rests between Yuukan and Gaellya. Any clan that wants to stretch their influence between Yuukan and Gaellya must first seek counsel and friendship with the Okuma clan - to ignore them risks incurring the wrath of the mighty Kiyotaka family. Therefore, it is hard to directly move forces between the two provinces and this only solidifies the Okuma's influence over the other clans. It primarily derives its wealth from the vast quarries and mines in the Stone Hills, as well as wood from the ancient and mysterious Woko Woods. The Daimyo of the clan is currently the aged Kiyotaka Akira, a powerful Shugenja of the Earth element. His wisdom and strength are what continually drive the clan to each new success, although there have been recent rumors about his failing health. If he was to fall, there is no clear successor that might be able to lead the clan and it would likely be swallowed up by the larger clans surrounding it. He is served by his wife, the honorable Lady Kiyotaka Miwa, a powerful Shugenja of the Air element. She is deeply involved the clan's affairs, as well as the court intrigue that occasionally threatens the clan from within. It is no easy task - she constantly serves as a balancing act between different factions within the clan itself and maintains a sense of harmony and obedience. Hime Kiyotaka Izumi and Hime Kiyotaka Atsuko are the beloved jewels of the family - twins who are already master Shugenja of Fire and Water. These two Hime are adored by the entire clan and more than one prince or noble has tried to court their favor. However their brash and impulsive attitudes often drive suitors away before their father even has to open his mouth. But at the same time, they are the reason why he is not willing to pass on just yet. He is convinced that neither sister is capable (or even interested) in leading the clan after his eventual depart. That sentiment is not entirely correct - although each sister is capable of leading the clan (and together, they may be even greater than their father), neither has quite settled down yet to take on such a huge responsibility.

Tsuru Clan During the dawn of the Empire, it was the first Emperor’s beloved sister, who created the traditions and customs that would become the social system of Yuukan. In the one thousand years since that time, there have been precious few times that the Tsuru have not utterly dominated the social environment of the Empire. The reign of the Kenzaki Dynasty was a period of prosperity for the Tsuru, with the clan supplying wives to most of the Emperors of that line, and dominating key political positions for much of that time. The beauty of the Tsuru's system is that they reinforce their dominance of social conventions through iaijutsu, the formal dueling method that is used to resolve differences. The fact that the Tsuru were partially responsible for the creation of the Empire’s justice system and the emphasis on iaijutsu and dueling, an art at which the Tsuru are unquestionably the masters in the whole of the Empire. The home capital of the Tsuru clan is the city of Yokowa, located in the north-west corner of Yuukan. The proximity of the forest of Kalvalas helped to make this city the greatest supply of wood in the country. They maintain close collaboration with the elvish communities of Kalvalas to share the resources of the forest. Yokowa is well defended by ancient walls that were built to repeal giants invasions from the read peak mountains. Komainu Clan One of the original clans, for more than one thousand years, the Komainu Clan has served as the Emperor. They used to be the greatest military force in the known world before the civil wars, the sword that destroys all that threaten the Emperor or the Empire. In the eyes of many throughout the Empire, the Komainu embody honor and tradition, for all the good and bad that such a description implies. Among the ranks of the Komainu, four families work together as one to create an unstoppable military might. Since the death of the emperor, their leadership changed drastically following a wave of assassinations and internal war that lead to the defeat of the previous daimyo family. The new head of the clan sweared allegiance to the mistress of the sacred element and act as the head of the western armies. The home capital of the Komainu is the city of Kyoro, located in the stone hills near the imperial capital of Yutara. There's a lot of silver and gold mining activities in the hills around Kyoro, one of the largest imperial mint is located in there. Naga Clan No clan in the history of Yuukan can hope to rival the reputation the Naga Clan has for resilience and siege prowess. The first daimyo of the clan volunteered to defend the Empire from the nightmarish demons of the Woko woods, far north of Yuukan. In the wake of the war with Hitomi, the Empire had a great deal of fear regarding the Woko woods, but fear was not something that the clan understood. They were warriors whose sheer physical power was without compare, and for centuries they stood against an enemy limitless in number and unrivaled in evil. After seven centuries, they constructed the Great Crimson Wall, at that time the single most amazing edifice in existence, to keep the demon hordes at bay, and their brave warriors stood atop it in the face of absolute, unwavering evil from the demons and monstrosities of the Woko jungle.
