Don't forget we're using the Background Skills option. These are on top of your normal skill points. If I understand correctly you can use your normal skill points on background skills but you still get two free BG skill points each level.

...maybe Spot must be reserved for the hybrid Dalmation+leopard. Dalmard? Leopartion? Leopamation? And then is it a leopard with dalmation coat or a dalmation with a leopard coat?leopamation.

Ulfar will surely turn into Papa Arjax over the course. Everyone is basically early 20s... then there's "Cedric's dad," along to chaperone all of us.

Rick is right on how background skills are working for us.

The Pre-Game will be opening up today. The purpose of the pre-game is two fold: one to give everyone an in character way to flesh out how well you know each other, and the other is to cover for my planned absence the next few days. This weekend I will be participating in the living history event Days of Knights again, so I will be camping out medieval-times style for the next few days. My internet connectivity may be almost non-existent during that time, not just because cell phones are not period but because I need my battery to last the whole time. The pre-game will be completely free-form with no input from me until Monday, so if you need to make or converse with an NPC feel free to do so as part of your narratives. When I come back and read the pre-game it will help me segway into the first few posts of the game. I will do another sheet-look over, and then the pre-game period will give everyone time to make those changes if needed.

Hey everyone! I put up my first post!

Some OOC connections and things that I think are relevant:

• @ricktur: I think that I got Darshee and Elaenia confused. How would Darshee feel about taking in a dwarf without a mother figure? Derdric (Ulfar's son) would likely have been hanging around other orphans in Bridgetown since Ulfar spends most of his time working with the Maintenance Bridgade.
  
• @ArcaneJazz: I left a pretty big hook for Ulfar and Cola to be connected. I was thinking of something like, Ulfar's son Derdric is pretty interested in Cola's pyrotechnics

Open Hook: I also just had an idea that we can choose to roll with or not. What if Ulfar's son Derdric and Cola get caught trying to set up some unofficial fireworks' shenanigans for the festival? I was thinking something like our Deputy Constable catches them and Ulfar is summoned to deal with his "minor".

This is just a brainstorm idea, I'd love to hear y'allz thoughts!

I've really enjoyed reading the first few posts. I feel the casually fluid incorporation of each others narratives is a good omen

I rather like the theme of your open-hook, dal. Some sort of scene where the generation of trouble makers just after Lily/El is up to some sort of mischief (perhaps involving some of Darshee's orphans?). Cola could be a witness as easily as an instigator, too (say, he recognized defective fireworks) - the adults have all perhaps gotten wind of said scheme ("Dad, the other kids..." "Darshee, I heard Little Timmy say..." "Constable! there are some kids..." etc) and are trying to head off a major mishap. ...probably at some inconveniently late hour when they have all been drinking...

DA, how did the event go? I hope you had fun catching up at work

SF, thanks for taking my hook! Do you want to tone the relationship towards the weaker or stronger end? I'm inclined to go with the 'best/very-close friends' end of the spectrum. thoughts?

Here I am! It did rain the whole first day, but only in fits and spurts. Despite the rain there was a good crowd. Many of them came back the second day when it was dry to see the fully armored demonstrations. It's been a long time since I've put my whole harness on, I was out of practice. Still, it's always fun to get in the lists and the people were full of quality questions.

I'm down to 45 unread emails and two new cases as of coming back to work. I'm going to read up on everything everyone has posted so far, do the final sheet review I ran out of time for before leaving, and get the first real game post up tomorrow.

I am also inclined towards that as well. I was imagining Lily grabbing El's arm and linking elbows like you see the Victorian era ladies do in films and shows. It is no secret that Lily was an orphan and taken in by the Greenwells. El can and could certainly ask Lily if she is going to try and look for her parents like she does every year during Midsummer. They would both probably know which boys they like and don't like most young women do.
