Hey everyone.
Kayla checking in. Game on. Edit: So, I'm looking at taking the Conjuration school, for my character. Last edited by syphiliticmind; Feb 24th, 2013 at 08:56 PM. Reason: Additional information. |

So, Addison's all done and accounted for. Let me know if there are any glaring errors/omissions in information! For the sake of clarity, I'm going to refer to him as him while in game-mode. Looking forwards to the fun.

Added some more info about the university background / motivation for why you would attend and some rumors you may have heard along your travels.
Once your character is fleshed out (backstory straight and everything) feel free to make your first post in the game thread up until you head through the doors. |

All right, so I am going to make moves on the first post, get the ball rolling and all. Plus, I'm on the edge of my seat; Erich's been building it up for so long now.

Hello! I'm Elliot, Kayla recruited me when it looked like you guys needed more people. Hope it's cool to introduce myself out of the blue like this.
I'm working on a character in the Abjuration school and should post him tonight hopefully. Never played Pathfinder before so apologies if I flail around a little, though it doesn't look all that different from D&D so far. Last edited by propheticblue; Mar 27th, 2013 at 06:23 PM. |

Hi, Kayla recruited me as well. I'm Sandra.
My character in the Illusion school is up and I hope I didn't screw up too bad. |

Ahoy mateys,
So I was trying to use secret text to have different people in different places without having to make you consciously not metagame. In the place right now, Addison had activated an illusion trap in the room at the base of the staircase (none of the other members had even seen the entrance to it) and the two on the staircase had encountered the mysterious man. The secret text was to keep alternate parties unaware of each other for specific circumstances. On consultation with Kayla, I'll try to drop the secret text as much as possible and instead rely on you all to not meta-game based upon the information that I give in the messages that are specifically for certain people. I will be editing the posts to be more all-chat friendly (removing most of the secret text), and there will be no more illusion trap as that has sort of flunked with the disclosure of the room (now it's just a room :P ) So yeah... don't worry about secret texting too much, and I'll try to be more descriptive with precisely what happens to whom in the the thread. Go exploring! |

Also I changed the locations of people as there had been some miscommunication.
-Attison is in the room, and can see the strange man and Cera and Lydia in the doorway along with the strange man -Strange man is in the doorway to the room at bottom of the stairs -Cera and Lydia are at bottom of stairwell behind the strange man, and can see past him to Attison |

Ahoy dudes,
So the first detect magic has been cast! I don't know how other DMs run this spell, but I do it by the book - not an "instantly know everything about magic in an area" spell For a recap, the rounds are: 1: yes/no magic 2: number of auras and level of most powerful aura 3+: strength/location of each aura (can make knowledge checks at this time) You'll have to concentrate on casting the spell if you want to know more about stuff. Meanwhile, it gives other people a chance to act while you're casting for those three (or more) rounds. |

Okay, good, that's how I thought it was going to work One thing I'm not to clear on, though, is whether or not other players can also benefit from the spell (i.e. it can allow others to also make knowledge checks about the magical auras as the rounds progress). I'm hoping that this may be the case!

Similar to doing a perception check, other people can't make knowledge checks about what they can't see. As the spell specifically says "you", only you are able to make knowledge checks about what you can see.

Ah, I understand - I will wait for everyone else to make moves before continuing (one "round" consists of all the players performing an action of some kind, yes? Sorry for all the beginner questions :P)
