I’m drawing some specifics for the religions described in the Guide to Drakkenheim for Ezek if it’s alright.

Name: Ezek Gimel
Race: Custom Lineage, formerly Human
Class: Forge-Domain Cleric
Background: Survivor (Dungeons of Drakkenheim Background)
Alignment: Neutral

Personality Traits:
Every encounter is a chance to improve myself and prove my faith.
Now that I’m on my own I can live my life to the fullest.

Ideal: I live to reap and enjoy the fruits of my labors to the fullest.
Bond: I will show the truth of the Reforging through my success.
Flaw: I am unwilling to make personal sacrifices unless there's no other option.


Appearance:
 


Personality: Ezek believes in the creed of the Reforgers, but is pragmatic in how he proselytizes and applies the group’s teachings. Rather than try to sway others to his specific version of the faith he instead preaches the specific beliefs associated with it:
1. The world needs to be remade, not a hard sell given the state of it.
2. Individuals should strive to improve themselves.

Ezek prefers to set expectations in his interactions with other people and will uphold his end of a deal as long as the other person does the same.

Ezek dislikes being alone, preferring to work with a group towards whatever goals he has. He loves eating, drinking, music, books, and whatever other enjoyments life has to offer, reveling in the power of his new body. While he's willing to pay a fair price for what he wants Ezek would prefer not to pay a copper piece more than he has to so he can better afford whatever else he wants to buy.

History:
Ezek Gimel was a sickly child, suffering from a defective lung that made him unlikely to reach adulthood. Desperate to save him his parents begged for help from the Reforgers, a heretical cult dedicated to Gaibhne the Smith. Proclaiming that the world was either made incorrectly or has been corrupted, the Reforgers seek to remake both individuals and society into what they deem “better” forms. The extent to which they take this varies from cult to cult, but it can go as far as using magic to transform themselves and others. In Ezek’s case his human body was hybridized, curing him of his condition, enhancing his body, and giving him the ability to see in the dark.

Ezek joined the Reforgers in payment for saving his life, learning their ways and eventually becoming a Cleric dedicated to creation and enhancement.

RP Sample: (a scene from the character’s perspective):

Ezek has shed his usual heavy armor in favor of more comfortable clothing. After all tonight is about celebrating, not combat. They worked hard, now they can relax and enjoy themselves.

He raises his tankard high.

“To victory, progress, and a massive amount of gold!”

Ezek’s toast is met with cheers from the rest of the party as they drink the booze. It’s not the best, but it’s decent considering where they are. That is to say better than rotgut.

The party’s fighter leans in.

“So what was that you were saying back in the ruin about Reforging?”

Ezek perks up at the chance to spread his faith’s wisdom. He puts his tankard down on the table before launching into an explanation.

“You’ve seen for yourself the state the world is in. In the service of Gaibhne we Reforgers seek to repair the damage done and remake the world better than it was. And along the way we improve ourselves as well.”

The fighter shrugs.

“I’m not much for religion. You’re useful and I can trust you to have my back, that’s what matters to me.”

Ezek chuckles.

“That’s good enough I suppose. Now let’s see how many of these we can put away before we’re passed out facedown on the floor! I look forward to setting a new personal record!”

Personal Quest:
Personal Pilgrimage. Ezek believes that by performing the rites of the Reforgers at the holy sites he can advance his faith’s goals through the divine favor that will be granted.

What do you like to see in a PBP game?
I like adventures where PC choices matter and there's lots of chances to roleplay. I enjoy the ability to build up a power base whether it's physical or political as long as it makes an impact on the campaign world.

What do you not like to see in a PBP game?
I don't like long gaps in posting since it can easily lead to a campaign getting canceled because one player ghosted or the other players get bored. I also don't like it when posts amount to just having a character do something without giving other players anything to work with like a post solely consisting of "X character opens the door."

What piqued your interest in applying for this game?
The fact this campaign involves the chance for political advancement, has factions you can influence, lots of looting opportunities, and is based around the type of campaign I like.

What do you want to get out of this game? Be selfish - what is in it for YOU?
I want my character to amass power (both magical and political), wealth, and rise up high. Power fantasy all the way. Roleplaying is a huge thing too, I don't want it to just be "X character does Y," I want detail, emotions, and character development.

It will be more difficult since this campaign’s got survival and corruption elements, but that will make the party’s victories all the sweeter.

What is your expected posting rate?
I can do at least once every 2-3 days, usually more. It mostly depends on how often everyone else posts and if there's something for my character to react/respond to.

Personality Traits: I once ran twenty-five miles to warn my clan of a approaching orc horde. Then stood as the front line of defense for my clan. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I feel far more comfortable alone in the forest or in small groups , than in big towns or cities.

Ideals: I'm a warrior! I was born to fight! I chose to fight for what's right. I must earn honor and glory for myself and my clan!

Bonds: I am the last of my clan, and it's up to me to ensure it doesn't fade into distant memory. I have to become a legend! So that my clan will live on in the history of the world.

Flaws: I am slow to trust members of other races, tribes, and societies. Where were they when my clan fell?

Apparence: Blue is a 6ft 6in. tall 300 pound Dragonborn. A tower of muscles. With long black horns. Pericing blue eyes, long sharp teeth, short black spikes down his back. And blue scales, the kind of blue you just stare at, if his scales were a dress women would kill each other for it, if his scales were armor lords would wage wars for it. The kind of blue that everyone notices. But that also means they notice the hulking monster it belongs too. He wears blue and black clothes and armor. Well traveled and his weapons have seen battle and blood. He's as imposing as he is kind.

Personality: Blue is a warrior who has recently lost his clan. He's determined, honorable, angry, sad, and lost.

Backstory: Blue was born in a Dragonborn clan of less than 100. Every one was taught basic combat techniques, and various ways to use their breath weapons. Most became smith's, or traders, or cooks/bakers. Those keen on growing things farmers. A few nature bound became rangers. But fewer still had become true warriors like Blue.

The clan was peaceful. So the chieftain relyed on nature to keep them safe. But knowing that evil exists in the world he trained 10-15 clansmen who excelled at fighting to be the guards and law enforcement of the clan. (Not that many clan laws were ever broken.) Blue at a young age showed promise in fighting skills never one to let bullies get away with anything.

But it was also his lack of interest and skills in other things that the chieftain decided his fate on. Each member needed to contribute and for Blue it was as a warrior and guardian. He was trained to fight be strong take a hit others might die from. And because his duties include traveling and scouting the rangers taught him forestry.

Dragonborn are adults at 15. It was at this age the dreams first happened. He was in a strange city with a great ball of fire coming down apon him. He always woke when it hit. This made him wonder what was beyond the land of his clan and where this city was. Was it in danger? Had it already been destroyed.? Why did he have dreams of it? The dreams were infrequent. As real as they felt they just didn't happen enough for him to leave his home and family to find out.

Then one day as he was scouting the furthest perimeter of their lands he spotted a Orc horde advancing towards his clan. He ran the 25 miles to the village to warn them. The chieftain sent word asking for help to all people, that his rangers could find. None came. Blue, along with 7 others became the front line of battle using hit and run tactics to slow the horde. As the village built its meager defenses. And as the horde fell apon his clan the 12 warriors and the clan held for a whole day. Killing hundreds of orc. But at some point Blue had been knocked out. And he awoke beneath the bodies of the fallen villagers. His home razed to the ground. No known surivers except he himself. And all he had left was the dream. So for 5 years he searched for the city from his dream finally arriving out side his destination yesterday.


Rp Sample: It began as it always began. He was walking the unfamiliar streets of a unfamiliar city. At night. Looking up at the sky when a loud 'BOOM, shook everything. Then another. As a bright flaiming ball appeared on the sky. Louder the thunderous retorts came. Closer the fireball came. Until it was apon him.

The Dragonborn woke under something heavy scaley, sticky, wet. He crawled out. Again he woke in the woods it was the day it happened the day he lost everything. The orc horde was advancing. He ran to warn his clan he fought and fought. He was struck from behind. But instead of blackness he lay there unable to move. He could only watch as Dragonborn after Dragonborn fell and weitght was piled on him. The village burned. There was a thunderous Boom. A fire ball in the sky...

Blue awoke once again. For real this time. He rose to his feet and started his forward track once again. But he stopped hearing noises, commotion, people. He peared through the brush...
He was here, Drakkenheim. There were many encampments in various places around this place. None the the same. He watched from the out skirts watche the people and races scury about. Not trusting them to not just attack. After most of the day traveling around these encampments. He went looking for a roadside tavern. In order to see what he could learn.

The massive Dragonborn stepped in the door casting a fearsome shadow from the light beyond the doorway...

Personal Quest: Apocalyptic Vision. I have been haunted by visions of the meteor for fifteen years. Every time I sleep, I see it crashing down upon me. My personal quest is to see for myself what lies at the heart of the crater. I must overcome whatever I find there in order to stop these nightmares.


What do you like to see in a PBP game? To actually play from lv 1 to minimum lv 5. Action, puzzles, posting more than 1x a week(or month or year). To lv up and actually gain something beyond gold. To have fun.

What do you not like to see in a PBP game? To not be treated as a side note, To not have constant negativity thrown my chs way. Yes thinking negativity about ch can be felt by ch without words being spoken. Emotions are palpable.
The story actually go not start and die in a week. To not continually have the story focus on one moment such as a month of posts of one ch trying to light a fire with spells while everyone else is on hold while said fire never happens anyway.

What piqued your interest in applying for this game? Howabout I practically have no games namely because of the things I don't like to see in games have already happened especially games dying in first week.

What do you want to get out of this game? Be selfish - what is in it for YOU? 1 to play a ch as far as lv 5 minimum! 2. To gain magical items that can be used with out harming the ch. 3. Something long term.

What is your expected posting rate? (no right or wrong here, just want to know expectations) preferred 2xs a day... not likely so 3xs a week would be good.

Name: Sormus "Mutch" Mutcher
Race: Forest Gnome
Class: Rogue 1 (eventually progressing to Arcane Trickster)
Background: Sage (Wizard's Apprentice/Amethyst Academy Dropout)
Alignment: Chaotic Good, was Chaotic Neutral.

Personal Quest: Find a Cure. My master was contaminated by delerium and turned into a monster. They have gone mad, and are lost somewhere in Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to locate them, then discover a way to reverse their horrific transformation.

Traits: I am cautious and methodical in all I do - I prefer logic over emotion. I have a bit of agoraphobia and prefer enclosed spaces over the wide open forests.
Ideal: Independence. I am a free spirit - nobody tells me what to do! (Chaotic)
Bond: I must find my master and see if there is a way to cure him from his horrible transformation.
Flaw: I bear personal grudges to my deathbed, and will never forgive someone unless I find a way to get even first.

Appearance:
Short, lithe, and pale of skin, Mutch reminds you of a goblin more than a gnome. He has coarse features and a shaved head, with pointed ears and a pronounced brow. He has a large beak-looking nose and thin lips, with a set of beady dark eyes and yellowed teeth that seem a bit too large for his head. He wears a loose olive colored tattered jacket over a dull looking suit of leather armor, with black cloth gloves on each hand with the fingers cut off. Around his waist is a thick leather belt from which hangs a brace of daggers and a dingy looking short-bladed sword. On his feet are a sturdy looking set of traveling boots, and on his back he wears a ratty but functional backpack that has a shortbow strapped to it.

Personality:
Brilliant, stubborn, methodical, and quick-witted, Mutch is about as clever a gnome as you would ever hope to meet. Although others his age enjoyed the outdoors in their youth, Mutch was always an indoor fellow and he prefers walls and ceilings over wide open spaces. He especially enjoys exploring caves, ruins, and old buildings - the dank smells, the dim lights, and the cozy feeling of closeness was always exciting to him. Whereas other gnomes talk at a rapid fire pace, Mutch is more slow to speak and tends to enjoy making elaborate foolproof plans to ensure the highest amount of success on his excursions. He is brave and adventurous, and enjoys a bit of risk if there is gold at the end of it. He can be a bit sharp-tongued and self-serving at times, but Mutch overall sees him as just a regular man trying to survive in this world. Mutch finds it difficult to forgive anyone and will bear a grudge until the day he dies unless he finds a way to get even.

Hello! I've been looking where to play PBP for some time, and I stumbled into this site! I hope me being new on this website is not an issue!

applicationName: Vissila Arnostalë
Race: Drow (PHB)
Class: Archfey Warlock
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Background: Survivor (DoD)
Personality Traits:
  • Being alone for so long means I am very used to conversing with myself out loud.
  • If you spot danger, it is best to avoid it, that's how you survive
Ideal: Hope. I believe there is something worth saving here, we must hold on to the idea of a better future. (Good)
Bond: Everything I do is for the good of the common people.
Flaw: I hear voices constantly. Sometimes I get distracted with conversations with people who are not there.




Appearance: She's 5'4" (162.5 cm) and weighs 86 lbs (39 kg). She's slender and agile, and at times she moves as if she were dancing. She has purple skin, pink eyes, and white hair with violet streaks. As sign of her binding with her patron, she has a small butterfly-shaped mark that appears on a different part of her body every dawn.

Personality: She's calm and kind. She knows when to lower her head and keep a low profile. She doesn't usually look at people in the eye, although she's always paying attention. She's keen on having small talk, as it makes her more grounded in reality. She's rather optimistic, although at times she wishes she weren't.

History: Vissila was supposed to grow as a drow soldier, but her body wasn't as strong as her comrades'. During combat training, she fell badly hurt, so the group (and some of who she called family) left her for dead, deeming her too weak. However, she survived, and limped all the way on the path she thought would lead home.

She doesn't know how, but she ended in a totally different place. One with beautiful gardens and blinding sunlight. She saw a gorgeous woman, who instantly knew Vissila didn't have bad intentions. The woman took care of the drow's wounds, and nursed her to full health, and allowed her to travel back home if she desired. Nonetheless, Vissila decided to stay with her for some decades.

The woman was called Cintra, a lesser Archfey, and she taught the drow her way of life, a happier, more hopeful way. Vissila grew much different to her kin, as she became gentle and she learned to love life.

After a while, Vissila decided to wander away again, and with Cintra's blessing, Vissila arrived at Drakkenheim. It wasn't as pretty as the Feywild, but the drow liked it somehow. She lived not too far from the city, and she lived alone, with only her own company and dreams of Cintra every other month.

Then, the meteorite struck. She barely survived, and was devastated by the destruction, but the teachings of Cintra helped her live another day, another year. The Archfey told her how saddened she was due to the contamination that blighted the world, so Vissila decided to help investigate it, and possibly eliminate it. Cintra agreed to give her some of her magic in exchange of her never giving up hope. So fifteen years after the disaster, at age 127, Vissila Arnostalë took on a more active role. Or at least she hoped to.

RP sample
"Are you sure?" Cintra's voice was distant, but clear, and her figure was hazy, barely visible against the green of the trees.

"Yes. I do want to help." Vissila said. Even in her calm tone there was decision and determination. "Even I can feel the corruption on the land and the strife its life is going through."

"Very well." The Archfey smiled, and the whole area seemed to smile with her: the clouds let more sunlight pass, the breeze was comforting instead of chilling, and the chirping of birds joined that of the crickets. "I have one last thing to offer, my child."

Cindra opened a hand, and a beautiful purple butterfly appeared. It fluttered around Vissila, surrounding her with otherworldly sparkles.

"A Pact."

"A Pact? Like a formal agreement?"

"If you want to call it so, yes. You've been brave, my child, but if you are to embark on a more dangerous adventure, you'll need a little more help."

Vissila calmly sat on the grass and opened her hand to the butterfly.

"I fully, wholeheartedly trust you, my Dream Lady. How shall I keep this Pact fresh?"

The butterfly landed on her hand, and it fused with it, leaving only a black mark on her palm. It was like a butterfly tattoo.

"Never lose hope." The Archfey said, and the drow chuckled.

"Ah. Such easy words, such hard execution. But I swear, my Dream Lady, I will never lose hope."

It was when she bowed that she regained consciousness and left her elvish trance. She was in her camp outside the city. Had it all been a dream? No. She felt different, fuller, brighter. She got changed and looked at the horizon.

"Yes, the sun is rising. Do you feel it in your veins? In your eyes? In your hair? Yes, I do." She replied to herself. "Hope."

She looked at her hand and there it was. A black butterfly-shaped mark. She smiled, as she wasn't alone.


Reason for being in Drakkenheim:
Blighted Landscape. A blight on the natural order envelops Drakkenheim, but the contamination could spread beyond the city. My personal quest is to study the unnatural phenomena found within the most corrupt places in the city: Queen’s Park Garden, the underground waterways, and the Crater’s Edge. Perhaps then I can develop a way to reverse the contamination.


What do you like to see in a PBP game?
Adventure. I haven't played D&D properly for so long I just want a fun, maybe even dramatic, adventure. I expect patience and communication, and I want us to weave a satisfying story.

What do you not like to see in a PBP game?
People rushing others, or people making decisions for others without consent.

What piqued your interest in applying for this game?
I think I've never played something in a dark setting, and I usually play with races from other sources, like satyrs and goblins, so it's kinda refreshing to play with PHB races again.

What do you want to get out of this game?
A proper adventure, where I can actually feel I'm playing D&D. I want to feel my character is doing something to change the world, and not only going on occasional questing like in the Westmarches I've played.

What is your expected posting rate?
At least once a day. Depending on how busy I am (my work schedule is a nightmare), there'll be days I can post several times. Except on weekends, I usually do IRL things on Sundays.
