Ah, Ermine, I was thinking of how I'd adapt Elyria, and came to the conclusion that I would like her family to be very influential. As in strongly influencing most important rulers to filling many positions of power. Would that be okay, or would I be stepping on your toes if I were to do that?

EDIT: Oh, and another question, given that homebrewing is open, can I ask for for wild magic feats to count as drawback feats? I wanted to focus on alteration and use inspired surge (the wild magic feat) and mimicry (the talent) to snag up talents I'd like to use (Troubadours get 1 magic talent every 5 levels, can you imagine?).

1) You won't really be anywhere near your family once you're free, so I don't really see a problem with that. If they have international power, though, that might be a problem.

2) Didn't realize wild magic feats couldn't already be taken as drawback feats. Yeah, I'll allow it.

I'll just say that the family occupies a number of powerful positions or indirectly influences them, but leave the specific positions and their reach vague. Maybe specify that they're still working towards world domination, should be fine.

I'm also thinking about maybe taking the witchwarped drawback feat too, which typically only grants alteration traits from the base body but also specifies that GMs might allow others. So... would having a prehensile tail be on the table?

Hah, you might get to play your gambler theorist after all. I find the lack of interest peculiar. I'm confident this'll be fun. Then again there was suddenly a lot more pathfinder games than normal, so maybe there's just a lot of competition for few players. Surely a rare occurrence, but it probably happens.

Do you want to extend the deadline? Or maybe just call it and cut off applications?

I've been considering cutting it off early, yeah. Maybe this saturday instead of next? Assuming I have time (work, then maybe renfaire).

And it's probably because I'm running 2 games and people are wary. Plus spheres-only.

Edit2: If I get into tht other game as my gambler, I won't be playing the theorist.

I think it's the impending release of D&D 5.5 or whatever we're going to call it around here. Not much point in starting up a 5E game this close to the rules change, so PF1E is a nice spot to vacation in.

I would, but I'm completely thrown by this whole "Spheres" thing. Never heard of it, went to this wiki to try to make sense of it all but they don't have a simple "how to make a character" link in there anywhere, and it just looks horrendously overwhelming.

Plus, of course, I have zero knowledge of Prevado and no idea what the culture or history of the place would be like. Usually I compensate for that sort of thing by making a kid character, but I'm not so sure that works if I'm level 5 and convicted of murder.

If you're willing to baby me through the process, I wouldn't be averse to giving it a shot. I didn't see a post frequency, though... 1/2day, or something else?

Ah, so first of: you got the right wiki. As for making a character. I'd advise reading through the relevant "using spheres of..." Section on the site. Power if you like to be a magic user, might if you intend to step into melee combat (or melee adjecent, alchemy, leadership and several rogue things fall under spheres of might too), guile has you covered for making use of skills in new ways and champion spheres focuses on the combination of several spheres.

As for what spheres is and what makes it special: you ever wanted to play pathfinder as a necromancer, to raise an army of the undead only to find yourself disappointed with there being no 1st level undead making spells? Or in more general terms, ever had a concept that specialised into one specific theme? Maybe you wanted to parkour through combat and knock down seven foes as you do. Spheres has you covered. It focuses on giving characters access to a limited number of things they can do (called talents). Talents typically have low to no requirements, and can combine to form some amazing things to fit your intended theme.

So rather than being a sorcerer in base pathfinder, waiting to level 5 to cast fireball and then ignoring it from level 10 onwards (yes, you can upgrade it with meta magic, but this is just an example). You can build a level 1 character to emulate a fireball (that's most easily done by the destruction sphere btw) and you can cast fireball (albeit a weak one) as a level 1 character, enabling you to use your favourite spell whenever from level 1 onwards.

A similar thing can be done with combat spheres (though I'm not as good with those as I am with magic). For example, my character as I've built her now is good at walking up to a group of enemies, provoking attacks and making them miss giving her an opportunity to dirty trick and intimidate to inflict a -4 on will saves and open the baddies up for possession (the possession is not a sphere effect, but a base pathfinder feat chain).

The whole shtick is that spheres empowers martial characters, reformulates magic users to be more specialised while guaranteeing access to their thematically appropriate magic and enables new uses of normal skills.

It allows for some weird builds that can't be done in normal pathfinder, and that's what makes it fun. It's not too hard to get the hang of, just a lot of reading to be done. And you'll enjoy the opportunity to leaf through the spheres.

I'm no spheres expert (in fact, I expect to get told off about what I wrote here, it's lage after all) but if you've got a concept I'd be willing to have a look and sketch out a proposed build. Be as specific as you like, it helps and it's really insane what concepts you can realise using spheres.
Just don't go into body snatching, that's my turf.

I'm debating allowing Oaths, but can't decide whether it's woth it. On one hand, interesting roleplay mechanic, on another, complicated roleplay mechanic.

I've finally written the second book on Elyria, and only misspelled her name a few thousand times (also changed her last name a few times, but that's cool). I'm quite proud of her, she pulls from the Dune's Bene Geserit, and Warframe's Orokin (and somewhat of the tenno themselves).

I've had a thought about oaths, and honestly there's none that I'd really want to take. Maybe take the oath of poverty or offerings to emulate automatic bonus progression and not have to bother with buying stuff. But it's honestly just due to me not being able to manage finances rather than anything else. And while I could spin an oath of offerings, I think an oath of poverty is slightly antitethical to a character inspired by two different ruling classes.

I miscounted the number of players, but now I've gone and made three distinct characters for this and I kinda wanna use one of them.

Edit: Nevermind, I did NOT miscount. My miscount was me counting one twice. So I miscounted trying to see if I miscounted.

Edit 2: Tempted to make this character immortal by means of oath boons. Just to piss off Elyria. (Who is listed as Erylia in the name line). Two immortals in one party with someone who doesn't like it~ ^~^
