Name: Routher Whiskerwind
Race: Catfolk
Classes: 2nd level Ranger (Guide), 2nd level Monk (Zen Archer)
Alignment: CG
Personality: Mostly a loner, he enjoys the forests and the jungles. It’s pure nature at its best. However, he does get along with others that show goodwill, an outgoing sort. The humans, halflings and especially elves, his people enjoy, for catfolks and elves share the love of nature. Curious about most things, he is always alert, especially when it comes to new items or areas.

Appearance: About 6 foot tall with slender build. Not hard to see what he is, like humans, the catfolks are also different from each other. He looks like a jaguar with orange skin with black spots.with yellow eyes. Dressed in a special shiny armor, armed with a dagger sheathed on each thigh and a bow at his back.

Trait#1: Courageous: +2 trait bonus on saving throws against fear effects.
Trait#2: Natural Climber: +2 trait bonus on Acrobatics and Climb checks while climbing trees.
Background: Growing up, Routher was always a wanderer, as a child, he always needed someone to watch over him, otherwise, he be missing and they would have to send a search party, but he was always safe, just exploring he used to say.

As he got older, he became a good tracker and scout. He never bothered with swords much, preferred to use his claws instead, which does about the same amount of damage as swords anyway, and if he needed a range weapon, he had his trusting bow. He was a decent ranger. During his travels he came upon a Monastery, he stuck around for a while, curious. Good thing he did, a monk showed him his bow and he was good at it, called himself a Zen Archer. Granted, Routher didn’t know much about monks and he never though they used a bow, he always heard they used only their fists, legs and fancy weapons. Being a Zen Archer got his attention, any time he could improve his bowmanship, he was all for it, and besides that, he also needed to be taught how to fight better with his claws if he was going against someone with a sword, that had a better reach, so his training helped him improve.

Ever curious like a cat, he always tried new things, traveled differently, to see which was better, easier, safer, harder, etc. He made his way across Sellen River and into another set of forests. Some folks he met on the way were friendly, some not so much. Then of course, he came across foul creatures like goblins and orcs and other beings. His kind dealt with kobolds and didn’t mind them so much as long as they didn’t enter their land. Goblins were….well, gross in just about everything they did. The orcs…they were a different matter, his people found them disgusting, destroying everything in their path, and for what? Enjoyment? Rotten creatures they were.

He been a guide many times and enjoyed it. Leading people to their destination was fun, getting to travel, see new sights, meeting new folks. Going solo once again, he came across Darkmoon Wood, met some fey that were very protective of their forest. Luckily, he could speak Sylvan and talked to them, they got along well with each other. He was different than other races, almost part of nature, which was why the Fey let him be. He came across some loggers. Humans. Routher shook his head. They cut down many trees, but do not plant to replace what they took. No wonder Fey folk were angry.

He watched for a couple of days and saw a couple of halflings. They had entered the woods to plant trees that the human loggers had taken. Catfolk and Halflings have always got along well. Halflings and Elves were prime friends of the Catfolk, so he approached the two little fellows and found that was going on. One of them, named Boram, Routher became good friends with. Boram told him about Falcon’s Hollow and that was the name of the town and about various creatures would become bothersome. Tired of traveling for a bit, he decided to stay a while, and earned his keep. Hunting food and tracking down creatures. Nice little town, but not enough females though. They had a small brothel, but only a handful of women. Once a month he would pay a visit, while some only welcomed him for his coin, others were actually glad to see him, like the human girl Rachel, a pretty thing. Being alone with no family, it was the job she could find. He kinda felt sorry for her. Who knows, when he ever moved on, he might take her along. He wasn’t sure how long he would stay, but so far, he liked the little town, it wasn’t like a city which he didn’t much like anyway, always dirty and smelling. He decided to make himself at home and made some more friends like Hawke, a half-elf that was also a ranger and they hunted together many times. While he did spend some time in town, getting to know folks, he preferred to spend the night in the forest, while the rooms were nice, he just felt boxed in, although Rachel helped with that on occasions. Well, except when it rains, especially a downpour, cats hated to get wet after all, although light rain was fine.

He became not just a hunter and gatherer for the town but its protector as well, with the creatures out there, you can never have enough protection

This may well be a stupid question, but are you allowing archetypes?

Not a stupid question. Yes, any pazio archetype is allowed. I may consider 3rd party archetypes on a case by case basis.

Name: Richard Reeves
Race: human
Class: wizard transmuter/ alchemist
Alignment: Lawful good

Personality: Richard or Rich as his friends call him, is a very jovial and friendly man who loves three things, magic, money, and talking. He has been known to spend hours telling stories to those who will listen about the exploits of his youth or his time at the mage's college, or magic in general. He prides himself on his knowledge and intelligence though he never looks down on others because of it.

Appearance: Rich is a very obese man in his fifties whose hair went white long ago. He wears fancy robes and a wizard hat, both blue. His belt holds several potions. He is a tall man at six foot three and usually has a friendly smile on his face.

Backstory: Rich was always a clever lad. Being the son of a merchant meant he had a better life than most. He learned arithmetic, and writing, and met all manner of people who came into his father's shop. He certainly wasn’t shy around strangers, always asking them all sorts of questions and chatting them up. He loved meeting new people and hearing their stories as well as sharing his own. His favorite customers were the pathfinders. They always had interesting items to sell, and they had the most thrilling stories of how they acquired them. most of all, Richard enjoyed talking to a wizard named Jon Hadar who would dazzle the boy with magic tricks.

When Richard turned fourteen, his father gave in to the boys begging and sent him to the same mage’s college that Jon Hadar attended, with a recommendation for admission by the old wizard. Richard took to books like a duck takes to water, and he had a mind for magic. It wasn’t long before he got the basics down but contrary to what everyone expected the boy to do, he focused on spells that were not conducive to combat. He focused on transmutation and conjuration mostly. Everyone thought he wanted to be an adventurer, but Richard wasn’t a fool. Years of plenty had caused him to grow overweight, and he knew he’d have no chance of outrunning a dire wolf. That didn’t mean he never wanted to go out and see the world, but his main focus was on helping others fight for him as well as making a living with magic.

He graduated with honors after eight years and spent some time with a group of young pathfinders delving into ruins, exterminating dangerous beasts threatening villages, and purging goblins, kobolds, and other undesirables. But Richard’s weight became more and more of a problem as he spent much of his gold on food. His age also became an issue, and after his parents passed, he decided to retire to a nice place and live out the rest of his life.

This led him to Falcon’s Hollow, a small logging town. It was just the right mix of safe and dangerous for the former adventurer, and he set up a shop in the town where he offered magical services for reasonable prices. Repairing a broken item costs two copper, but most of his money comes from the loggers asking him to cast ants haul and bulls strength on them to let them do their jobs better. He also makes potions for those willing to pay and even has a healing brew that has saved a few lives.

Richard is well acquainted with Sharvaros Vade, the wizard in the perch. The two talk at great length about their craft. Richard has purchased several items from his shop and even sold him some potions. But Richard spends most of his spare time at the sitting duck eating tasty food. He has become well acquainted with Cookie. He keeps trying to get the cook to prepare more exotic meals, but Cookie always refuses. He enjoys flirting with the serving girl Jalene, and the two like showing off to each other, he with his magic tricks and her with her dagger throwing. Thuldrin Kreed is another man that Reeves knows well as he often employs the wizard to strengthen his workers. Despite their business relationship, Richard does not care for the man and strongly suspects he had a hand in his wife's death, though he is not foolish enough to voice such thoughts.

Ilyana Maeron
right-aligned image

Name: Ilyana Maeron

Race: Elf (swapping Con penalty to Str)

Class 1: Duettist Bard

Class 2: Cartomancer Witch

Alignment: CG

Traits: Warrior of Old, Savant, Resilient

Drawback: Oblivious

Free Feat: Prodigy (Perform: Oratory, Profession: Librarian)

Personality

Ilyana may seem aloof and standoffish to someone that doesn’t know her well, but in reality it’s just that she’s normally lost in thought. If you can manage to get her attention, she’s actually quite personable… at least until her mind wanders again. The surest way to keep her interested in a conversation is to start talking about books. She loves stories of any kind, and is always quick to recommend to someone a book she thinks they'll love, whether they asked for it or not. Having been one herself, she takes a special interest in orphans, which Falcon’s Hollow has all too many of. Children who have lost a parent are always welcome at her library, and often leave with a free book or two in hand.

Background

Ilyana was born in Lastwall, the daughter of two crusaders, elves from Kyonin drawn there by the promise of glory holding back the undead menace. They, naturally, hoped their daughter would follow in their footsteps, and began her combat training as soon as she was old enough to hold a blade. Ilyana hated every minute of it. It wasn’t that she was opposed to the fight itself; she knew how important the work her parents did was. Nor did the hard work of her training bother her. And yet, whenever she was among the soldiers, she found it hard to function or even think straight. She felt all the pain, fear, and loss of the warriors around her as if it were her own, pressing on her mind constantly. Despite the respect Ilyana had for her parents, it was clear the life of a soldier was not for her.

Unfortunately, the life of a crusader is dangerous even for the most skilled warriors, and Ilyana’s parents were killed in battle when she was still fairly young. She was well cared for in an orphanage in Vigil, as the people of Lastwall always provided for the family of its slain defenders. Still, life was difficult. She knew she had little chance of being adopted; what human family would want to take in a child that would still be in adolescence into their old age and beyond? This is not to say that she had no one, however. Several locals took a liking to and watched over the young elf. There was Rufus Axil, who ran the library where Ilyana spent a great deal of time reading, and Carmella Plescu, an old Varisian woman who taught Ilyana how to read the Harrow, something she showed an innate talent for. Of course, by the time the elf was old enough to leave the orphanage and take care of herself, they both had already passed away from old age. By that point, Ilyana was more than ready to leave Lastwall, the war, and the painful memories of loss behind her.

For decades, she wandered from town to town, never putting down roots or staying in one place for more than a few years. She spent some time at the Kitharodian Academy in Taldor, where she honed her talents for both storytelling and magic. She also did some light adventuring from time to time; no slaying of dragons or anything major, just the occasional assistance for a village in danger from bandits or recovering artifacts from ruins. Her only consistent companion over the years was Umbar, a raven who had followed her since before she ever left Lastwall. Between his extraordinarily long life and his ability to speak, she knew he had been somehow touched by magic, quite possibly the same unknown force that gave her her unusual empathic awareness. Regardless of his origin, Ilyana was glad for his company, and the raven’s croaking voice added a nice flair to her storytelling.

After a few dozen years wandering with no real goal or destination in mind, Ilyana found she was getting tired. While seeing new things and meeting people was interesting, she missed the sense of home and community she had as a child in Lastwall. Her thoughts were drawn to Falcon’s Hollow, a town she had passed through a few times on her journeys and recalled fondly. While it wasn’t what most would call a pleasant town, it had nice people, and was in dire need (in Ilyana’s opinion) of a good school and library. She has lived there now for over twenty years.

In Falcon’s Hollow

Schoolteacher, librarian, storyteller, fortune teller; Ilyana wears several hats around town. Whether this is due to possessing multifarious talents or simply an inability to focus on a single career is open for debate. In the mornings, she runs the local school, teaching the children of Falcon’s Hollow reading and writing, mathematics, history, and a variety of other subjects. In the afternoon, the schoolhouse becomes a small library and bookstore, mostly lending out storybooks to interested townsfolk, although she also carries a good supply of reference books for passing adventurers seeking to stay informed. In the evenings she performs as a storyteller at local inns and taverns, reciting epic poems and tales of ancient heroes. While she spends a fair amount of time at the Jak'n'napes, The Sitting Duck is her best customer; adventurers love a good tale, gets them all hyped up to make their own. She also offers harrow readings for anyone interested, whether between sets at a tavern or by appointment in her shop. Unlike many fortune tellers, Ilyana takes pride in the fact that she is no charlatan. She is very upfront about how the harrow works; its tellings are always true, but they are also vague and may not be particularly helpful. Still, even a hint of what the future may bring seems to give people a sense of comfort, so she gladly provides the service.

NPC Relationships

Vade Clan: As a fellow magic user, Ilyana is friendly with Sharvaros, although she finds his purely academic approach to magic to be a bit limiting. She has on several occasions managed to supply the wizard with a rare book he needed for his latest experiments. She worries about Savram, concerned that the small boy will one day find himself in more trouble than he can handle. She makes efforts regularly to introduce him to stories she thinks he will find interesting, in the hopes he follows his father in intellectual pursuits.

Half-Orc Gang: Professionally, Ilyana prefers to avoid the Rouge Lady. On a personal level, she carries a strong dislike of Kabran Bloodeye and the way he exploits the women who have lost their families for his own profit. More recently, she has been taking work there more often, mainly to keep an eye on poor Ralla.

Eavewalker Clan: As the only other elf in town, Ilyana was naturally drawn to Idris and his family. She understands the wanderlust he feels, although she disapproves of his constant absences from his family. He will have such a short time with Kitani as it is due to her short life, and Ilyana can’t understand why he would want to waste any of that precious time, to say nothing of leaving his daughter without a father for months at a time. Since his latest disappearing act, she has made a point to keep an eye on Kimi whenever she can.

Crimmy Clan: Ilyana has a good relationship with Ella and Marcus, both personally and professionally. When she’s not working in their inn, she sometimes swaps adventuring stories with the couple, although her limited experience can’t compare with their adventures.

The Sitting Duck Staff: Despite his general grumpiness, Ilyana likes Egrin Tock well enough. When he took over the tavern, he was glad to keep her on board, if only because her stories kept visiting adventurers at the bar a drink or two longer. He pays her well and ensures that any rowdy adventurers that bother her are dealt with. The young waitress Jalene is one of Ilyana’s closest friends in town. Born just a few years after Ilyana arrived in Falcon’s Hollow, the girl was a good student and made regular visits to the library after school. Ilyana taught Jalene a lot of her throwing techniques (although Ilyana herself prefers using cards instead of blades). She was impressed with how quickly the girl picked up the techniques and even surpassed her. She supposes humans have to be fast learners with how quickly they grew.

Jabbs Clan: Although his temper concerns her, Ilyana likes Jacob. She has offered to give him special tutoring sessions after school to help him catch up to the other children, but he always declines, claiming his father needs him helping in the butcher shop. She thinks it likely he is overstating his father’s needs and his hesitance is due to his own frustration. Ilyana is considering talking to his mother to force the issue.

Church Staff: Ilyana doesn’t spend much time at the church, worshiping privately at a small shrine to Findeladlara in her home. As the church itself has taken charge of Sara’s education, Ilyana doesn’t know her as well as most of the other children in town, but she still checks in with the girl on occasion to ensure no vital areas of learning are being overlooked.

Logging Consortium Staff: Another former student, Kate was a close friend, and Ilyana never understood what she saw in Thuldrin. She has a few private doubts about the accident that caused Kate’s death, but is wise enough not to voice them. Instead, she watches over Jurin in the memory of her lost friend, making sure to give him the affirmation and affection he does not get from his uncaring father.

I am really excited to see so many apps comin in already. I am preparing a table to track applicants at the moment.

I just wanted to take a moment to review Gestalt.

You are level 4, so you are level 4 in 2 classes at the same time. A Rogue/Fighter would compare things they get at each level to see which is better. The rogue has better Reflex and better Skillpoints, while the fighter has better Hit dice, bab, and fortitude. You combine them into a more powerful gestalt and get the best of both worlds.

I only bring this up, cause I see a few people seem to be splitting their 4 levels between their 2 classes, making themselves 2nd level this or that.

This sounds fun. App complete!

Character Concept
right-aligned image

Name: Felix Duloff
Race: Human
Class: Cleric of Cayden Cailean 4/Swashbuckler 4
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Role: Melee fighter, face, magical support, booze.

Traits: Good Natured (Religion), Trustworthy (Social).

Free Feat: Street Smarts. When you work at the only inn in town, you get to know a little bit about everything and everyone.

Appearance:
Felix is a large, robust man of average height with thick jowls and a prominent, well-groomed mustache. He has a large reddish nose and short brown hair, and his brown eyes twinkle with mischief. He has heavy limbs and a prominent belly, with comparatively skinny legs in contrast. Despite his bulk, he moves rather gracefully and his posture is brimming of confidence. He has a deep, soothing voice with large gusty laughs and talks with his hands just as well as his mouth. He is hardly ever seen without a tankard in his hand, and tends to dress in simple but comfortable clothing.

Personality:
Felix loves life and all that it brings him. He enjoys the freedom of his life at Jak'n'napes Inn and the joy it brings him, making new types of ale and clinking tankards with friends both old and new. A warm fire, a satisfied belly, a full tankard and friends is one of the best things in life. He enjoys interacting with people and is always quick with a song, a smile, or a joke to those who need it. He dislikes bullies and is always one of the first to stand against them and let them know they are not welcome. He is a devout follower of Cayden Cailean and is always eager to share the joy and love of what he feels is one of the most practical faiths in existence. Felix likes to work hard and play hard, and this attitude crosses over from his brewing into his swordplay. Felix is borderline obsessed with the sword and loves to practice in his room every day, sometimes two or more times a day. He trains regularly with both Ma and Pa Crimmy, and sees them as his adopted parents. Although he's currently living a comfortable life, Felix has tasted adventure before and would be quick to take the opportunity no matter where it would lead. He is not the best at planning for his future, preferring to live in the here and now.

If his life was a song, this would be it!

History:
Felix Duloff was born to farmers Martin and Charisse Duloff who lived just outside of Falcon's Hollow on their farm. Felix and his older brother Leigh had a wonderful upbringing on the farm - Martin and Charisse are hard working, honest and fun-loving folk who took the two boys under their wings and taught them life the best way they knew how. From an early age Felix knew Leigh would be the one to inherit the farm, and when he and Christine Matherson began to sneak off into the haylofts at night, Felix could see marriage on the horizon for his oldest brother. Leigh would have allowed Felix to continue to live on the farm without a thought, but Felix didn't want to be a burden and wanted to find his own place in life outside of the farm.

So, with the blessings of his parents, Felix was taken as an apprentice of the halfling Master Horster Tosscobble. Master Tosscobble is the chief brewer for the Jak'n'napes Inn and has a fantastic local reputation both as a brewer of renown but also a drinker of renown. Master Tosscobble routinely puts on drinking contests at Jak'n'napes (he calls them "worship services") where the innocuous looking halfling with wide muttonchops can drink several men under the table and still walk a straight line. Master Tosscobble has his room and board paid for by the Crimmys who own Jak'n'napes so in return he brews for them and sells the extra on the side for more drinking coin. Felix has seen his apprenticeship as a true blessing in his life. He greatly enjoys the work (and the wares!) of his profession and enjoys being around people. He eagerly adopted Horster's worship of the god Cayden Cailean, and ever since Felix feels life has been one great joy after another.

The Crimmys quickly took a liking to the young Felix as well, and soon his nights of sleeping in a cot in the store room disappeared as now Felix has his own dedicated room at Jak'n'napes now. The Crimmys taught the jovial Felix swordplay and song when he got older, and he shows a natural talent for both. He has a tremendous amount of respect for Mister and Missus Crimmy, and sees them as paternal figures in addition to his parents whom he visits regularly and often supplies with some extra coin. He also regularly joins Master Tosscobble in his "worship services" for Cayden Cailean, which often involved plenty of free ale and song for all in attendance from Felix. It was after one of those nights when Felix knows he was visited by the Lucky Drunk himself. Felix was struggling to get up the stairs in his inebriation when he fell backwards, knocking his head off the step. As he managed to get himself back to standing, Felix heard a voice coming from his tankard. Holding it up to his ear, the Accidental God blessed Felix and told him that as a worthy follower he would give him divine blessings so long as he continued his good work in his name. Asking Felix to drink and celebrate and fight bullies more was like asking a fish to swim in the water, so naturally Felix accepted. Since that day, Felix has been having the time of his life and looks forward to each new day. His most recent excitement is that his brother Leigh and his wife Christine are now expecting their first child, so Felix is going to be an uncle!

Hi Grouchy! Welcome to the thread. Great to see a dwarf that uses finesse, its such a rare thing.

I am noticing I need to go make a slight edit to my People and Places.

Ella and Marcus Crimmy are meant to be a pair of adventurers who retired. The wife is a dervish dancer bard while the husband is a swashbuckler. While Marcus now prefers to use a chef's knife, he is always ready to step up and help his wife teach some ruffians proper manners.

He's going to be human, just not your usual lithe and wiry swashbuckler. He likes drinking and eating, so he's going to be a more robust sort of fellow.

In that case, he likely is going to be a student of both, as he enjoys belting out a good song while bonking baddies with his tankard and giving them a poke with a rapier.
