My apologies, I judged him on his girth. lol

Name: Pavu the Solid
Race: Oread (Ironsoul)
Alignment: LN

Class: Hunter 4 /Warpriest (Forge Priest) 4

Appearance: Pavu looks more like his planar ancestry than his human ancestor. His skin the metallic color of s deep hammered metallic copper color and his eyes are a pair of glowing red gems. There has been more than one overzealous person who has tried to claim he was a demon. He fits the typical blacksmith profile, massive, large, and build like a brick crapper. Despite his size and ostentatious appearance, there is a control and finesse about his movements that make him seem able to blend into the background when he needs to.

Personality: He is a quiet man but can command the room when it is needed. Whether that is because even among a town of lumberjacks, he is bigger than everyone or if it is just the exotic nature, most people have learned to listen when he speaks. He is a hard worker, a man who takes pride in crafting things and refuses to sell or produce a sub-par piece of metal work. It keeps him busy working the forge to keep the town supplied with axes and saws and to rehone the never ending stack of them that appear. During the few hours he isn't working he prefers to visit the quiet nature of meditating in the Church or a glass of liquor at Jak'n'napes.

Background: Like most of the town, he wasn't born here but a long distance away. Most Oreads hate crowded places and people and where he was born was no exception. They were a small clan of craftsmen, hunters, and miners clinging to a remote mine deep in the wilderness. A few of the tribe would trade with some of the local settlements for the things they didn't make for themselves and they would occasionally get adventures coming in looking for work or the craftsmen.

From a young age he was apprenticed to the smiths of the town, turning the ore dug from the nearby mine into refined metals and crafting that into pieces of weapons, armor, and tools. It was during this time he was introduced to the deity Bharnarol and his worship. The spark was strong within him for it didn't take long for him to start manifesting and receiving blessings from Bharnarol. He was inducted in the greater mysteries and it didn't take long before he starting preaching to his people.

It was tradition among his clan that all learn two professions so that the village will never suffer a disaster from a lack of knowledge and it was during this time that he learned the craft of the hunter. Again the blessings from his worship came and started to manifest spells of nature, controlling plants and animals and learning how to shape his own body and those of others as his god does.

When he came of age, he set out to make his own place among the world taking the knowledge, skill, and worship. He wandered the roads for nearly 2 years, working as a sell sword, smith, and hunter to pay for his travels. Finally wandering into Falcon's Hollow, he took a liking to the rough and bustle place and settled in. It didn't take long for him to open up a smithy and business flowed in since than.

Connections: Gavek Kreed- The largest employer and the one who cast the longest shadow. Pavu gets along with the man in the fact that he pays 99% of Pavu's bills with his business needs and Pavu is rather apathetic about his mean streak. As long as it isn't directed towards Pavu or his shop or will result in the destruction of the town, well it is the way of the world. He provides order that Pavu craves and if some people end up on the wrong side because of their choices, well they know their choices.

Lady Cirthana- Pavu dislikes her deeply for upsetting the order of the town and her loud aggravating against Kreed. He of course is polite to her presence since she runs the Church and he prefers to meditate and reflect on his own teachings. She still makes an attempt to recruit him every time he manages to make it away from his forge, but he simply politely dismisses her until she manages to take the hint for that visit.

Kimi Eavewalker - With her father missing, Pavu has taken to teaching her some of the laws of the woods now that she is no longer benefiting from her father's presence. Of course, it was spacey and absent before but he would prefer that she wasn't killed in the woods because she attempted to follow in his steps without the proper training.

Seamstress Eavewalker- A fellow craftsmen, Pavu appreciates the dedication to her craft and the mastery it requires. He has little need for her garments or skills that come with it, but he still takes a turn once a month to see the wonders that her hand has made. He knows she appreciates the visits as she sought him out to make a custom jewelry to match her current project.

Deputy Tabrik Splint- As a fellow earth oriented creature, Pavu has spent many a night discussing the finer points of stone working, metal craft, and architecture. He appreciates the man's profession and dedication to bringing law to a chaotic town even if it is largely ineffectual. He knows the Magister and Kreed are a sore spot so he tries to keep the conversation focused on their shared ancestry and not present circumstances.

Ralla and the Ladies- He comes in frequent contact with them as they look to update their visage to keep them in demand at the Rogue Lady. He often does bonus work, an extra engraving, flourish, twist just because their order for cheap plated jewelry is a struggle for him to reign in his master desire for perfection and not simply the functional. He appreciates Ralla being that she is one of the prized women and has more money to spend.

Hollin Hebbradan- Pavu oftens finds odd jobs to help the kid out. Stocking the coal, hauling in ore, or helping to run the smelter, Pavu makes sure to find an odd job for the kid to help with when he comes by.

Haha, all good! I made the picture with AI and he does look a bit dwarven. I actually considered changing but the human aspect just works too well for his relationship with Ma and Pa Crimmy.

Felix Duloff is now complete!

"Wealth: Players will begin play with have 6,000 GP to purchase adventuring gear. This gear is purchased normally. Once the initial purchasing is over with that 6,000 GP, what ever you haven't spent disappears."

Does that includes buying magical items?

Yes. Anything from magic weapons to mastercraft tools and anything in between, what ever you would normally buy to go adventuring. These are things you've earned or inherited through out your life that you would take with you if you ever had to go on an adventure. What your home is, and what sort of furnishings, or your lifestyle would depend on your back ground.

My example earlier was that the black smith would own his own smithy. An alchemist would own his own apothecary. Or maybe, work for the Medicine woman in town to learn her medical secrets. If you tell me you're a vagabond who prefers to sleep in trees and showers once a month, then you probably don't own anything beyond what's on your back.

When the game starts, I will tell each of you how much you have in your pockets and if your character seems like the type to have something squirreled away, I might mention something.

Winrich Eicehnhardt
left-aligned image
Name: Winrich Eichenhardt
Race: Halfling
Class: Cavalier (Order of the Paw) / Ranger
Intended role: Natural 20 Front lines, charging to make enemy shish kabobs. Possibly some ranged combat as a secondary option.

Physical description: At three feet two inches, Winrich stands a bit on the tall side of average for a halfling. He has a trim musculture, the result not of any cultivation but a life of physical labor. He keeps his hair cut fairly short and typically wears a thin goatee. His skin shows his youth, but has already begun to acquire something of a weathered appearance that speaks of long hours working in the outdoors.

Winrich wears heavy plate armor, specially made for the small halfling. The armor is mostly unadorned, although the shield bears his family's crest, three dogs around a large oak tree. When unarmored, he normally wears simple, practical outfits. Typical for halflings, he doesn’t wear footwear any more often than he needs to, something his heavily calloused feet testify to. He also usually has a sturdy pair of gloves handy.

Personality: Winrich is a simple, forthright man. His family belongs to a small group of halflings that worship the ancient goddess Jaidi, wife of Erastil. He believes hard work and determination are rewards in and of themselves. He respects those qualities in others, regardless of what pursuits they may be applied to. He has little patience for anyone he sees as lazy or unmotivated, but is more than willing to assist someone who needs a hand. He’s honest and blunt, sometimes giving offense simply because he fails to “sugar coat” the truth.

Background: For uncounted generations, the Eichenhardt family has lived deep within the forests around Falcon’s Hollow. Once, this meant the traditional, simple lives of their people; living off the land and in harmony with nature. More recently, however, the influx of human settlement meant they were forced to adapt, and instead live in harmony with a larger, more “civilized”, world. This they did, sharing their knowledge of the woods with the prospectors that came seeking timber for the Logging Consortium.

The family’s greatest contributions to Falcon’s Hollow are in the breeding of unique dogs, a breed that came to be known as “oakhounds”. The breeding was almost an artform, with carefully selected wolves strategically mixed in every few generations to keep the line hearty and strong. For the halflings, they served as mounts and beasts of burden, far more suitable to rough woods and mountains than more typical horses or ponies. While they were, naturally, too small to be so used by larger races, oakhounds became valued far and wide for their natural combination of strength, intelligence, and good temperment. Oakhound guard dogs are common sights in the area’s many logging camps, and more than a few residents of the town own them as well.

Freya
From his youth, Winrich Eichenhardt showed a natural affinity with the dogs, and had great affection for them. When Edda, one of the family’s prized dogs, bore an unusually large litter he was naturally on hand to help. One of the pups, a female, was born small and underdeveloped, and Edda rejected the runt. Rickard, Winrich’s father, told him that nature was sometimes cruel and there was little to be done. Winrich, though, refused to give up on her, and begged his father to let him try to save her. A kind man, Rickard agreed, with the caveat that Winrich would take full responsibility for raising the pup. He agreed, and named her Freya.

The beginning of Freya’s life was difficult, each day a struggle. Despite attempts to coax her otherwise, Edda stubbornly refused the pup, so Winrich hand raised her, feeding her milk from a tiny spoon. Despite all odds, she grew in strength, and was soon inseparable from Winrich. As she matured, it became evident that Freya was a special dog. Whether a god favored her, or the wolf’s blood in her ancestry was particularly strong, or she’d just thrived under Winrich’s careful ministation he never knew, but the wolfdog quickly became bigger and stronger than all her siblings, with a wild temper to boot. At times it seemed like Winrich was the only one who could keep her under control. She escaped several times and attacked passersby on the roads nearby. A combination of good fortune and speedy responses from Winrich kept any of the incidents from being overly serious, and Magistrate Harg, an old friend of the family, was willing to smooth things over with the aggrieved parties. Still, Winrich knew it was only a matter of time before someone was seriously hurt or killed, be it Freya or some innocent she chased down.

The young halfling sought out advice from Idris Eavewalker, hoping the elf’s deep well of experience would include something on dealing with untamable beasts. Not long after Falcon’s Hollow’s settlement, the ranger had come to the family ranch, having heard tales of the legendary Eichenhardt Oakhounds. A small child then who’d only just begun to meet strangers from the world beyond the Darkmoon, the mysterious elf fascinated Winrich, and he was thrilled when Idris unexpectedly fell in love and decided to remain in town. The two had maintained a relationship ever since, and he was more than willing to help. His advice wasn’t easy, though; he told Winrich that Freya was, at heart, a wild animal, and she needed to be in the wild.

With help from the enigmatic elf, Winrich took Freya into the Darkmoon Wood and established a small camp. The plan was simple enough; the halfling and wolfdog would both get back to their ancient ancestral roots, living off the land and supporting each other. Winrich had already learned something of hunting and woodcraft from Idris over the years, and Freya needed little help to hunt prey once she was set loose and allowed to do so. At first, Winrich had been afraid that she’d disappear into the depths of the forest, but she always returned to their little camp after a day or two at most. Wolves, Idris taught him, were naturally pack animals, and Freya saw the young man who raised her as part of her pack.

The bond between the halfling and his companion grew stronger as they were forced to depend on each other, isolated from the outside world. While it seemed an almost ludicrous notion, it was as if Freya grew to respect Winrich more after seeing him hunt, trap, and live off the land. The pair began to hunt together, and Winrich even began to ride her as they did so, chasing down deer and other prey. The more dangerous beasts of the forest hassled them on occasion, but they were always able to either fight them off or safely flee.

Idris visited periodically, ensuring his young friend was surviving, and approved of the way their relationship was proceeding. On one occasion, he found them chasing a few optimistic kobolds away from their camp, Winrich clinging to Freya’s back with one hand while he wielded a crude spear in the other. The sight struck a cord of inspiration, and he returned a week later a fine lance and suit of armor, both appropriately sized for a halfling, and a set of barding for Freya. A halfling riding a wolfdog might not be quite the same as a man on a mighty warhorse, but why not emulate their example? The two learned to fight together, seeking out the dangerous beasts of the woods as well as two legged prey, bandits and kobolds who preyed upon the industrious settlers.

Soon afterward, Winrich returned home, he and Freya both changed by their experience. Winrich’s time away had made him grow fond of his hometown, rough as it was, and left him with a desire to protect it. He sought employment with the town’s sheriff, and was sworn as a deputy. He found the work satisfying, and protecting the town also provided Freya with an outlet for her natural aggression. The two became fairly popular around the town, and the young halfing drew more than a little attention from eligible women as he patrolled atop his loyal companion. Freya, however, was startlingly protective of her packmate, and a toothy snarl from her ended more than one potential relationship before it began. Until, at least, they encountered Lilly.

Lilly Skala is a human woman whose father, Luke, is one of the soldiers employed by Thuldrin Kreed. Wanting a higher quality of life for his daughter than he had, he did all he could to get her an education and secured her a job as an aid to Magistrate Harg, helping him with the various bureaucratic duties his job entailed. One day, Winrich was stopping at the Hollow Tribunal building to drop off some paperwork from the sheriff's office when Freya took off and ran after Lilly, who’d just left and was on her way home. Winrich cried for her to stop, but to no avail; suddenly she seemed like the untamed beast she’d been when she was younger. He ran as fast as he could, but knew he’d never overtake the swift wolfdog before she reached the young woman. To his surprise, however, when Freya came upon Lilly all she did was nuzzle the frightened girl and beg for attention. Lilly anxiously reached out and scratched the huge dog between the ears, at which point Freya promptly dropped to the ground and rolled over for a belly rub. Winrich was astonished. Freya was still standoffish at best even towards other people she knew well, but for some unknowable reason she’d made instant friends with this total stranger.

Lilly, now giggling as she rubbed the fierce beast’s belly, laughed at the expression of pure shock on the halfling’s face. Surly this wasn’t the fearsome creature she’d heard about! His protestations of the danger she should be in were belied by a contented sigh from Freya as she basked in Lilly’s attention. The two found instant chemistry, and soon made an arrangement to have dinner together. That date led to another, and another still, and within a year they were married. Freya, of course, had fallen for Lilly long before Winrich did, and is both affectionate and protective of her. Winrich and Lilly purchased a small but comfortable home in the low town, not far from both of their workplaces. The little family of three has a simple life, all in wonder at what the future may bring.

NPC Relationships
Eavewalkers - When Winrich was just a child, Idris came to acquire one of the famed Oakhounds as a hunting companion and ended up putting down roots in the then-new town of Falcon’s Hollow. As a boy, he found the elven ranger, well, cool. As he grew older, Idris taught him about the woods, about hunting and trapping, and Winrich had a natural knack for much of it. It was Idris who devised the plan to temper Freya’s wild instincts, and his help was essential when Winrich was forced to rely on the skills Idris had taught him. As of now, Winrich has grown increasingly concerned at Idris’s long absence. He’s never been gone this long before, and his one-time protegee has become more and more certain that something is seriously wrong.

He’s taken to regularly visiting the Eavewalker family, making sure all is well. He considers Kitani a dear friend, and although the tailor’s shop brings in plenty of money to support her and Kimi, he knows she feels the absence of her husband. He’s also taken an interest in Kimi. Winrich certainly wouldn’t presume to replace her father, but in his absence he’s begun to share some of the things Idris taught him with the elf’s daughter. He’s also come to her aid more than once when she’s gotten into fights, breaking the children up and sending everyone home. He insists it’s all in his professional capacity as a sheriff's deputy, mainly because he knows the headstrong girl would be incensed if “Uncle Winrich” was looking after her.

Luke Skala - a human fighter, Winrich’s father in law is one of the small band of soldiers employed by Thuldrin Kreed. He’s not a cruel man, at least he doesn’t think so, but working for a man like the Gavel means he sometimes does some unsavory things. He doesn’t love it, but the only alternative would be working in the logging camps, where the pay and life expectancy are both lower. He is devoted to his daughter Lilly and tries to isolate her from the ugliness of what he does. His greatest desire is to see her have a better life than he’s had. He’s fond of Winrich and respects his daughter’s choice of husband, but he and Winrich are both concerned that their jobs might one day see them on opposite sides if Sheriff Baleson ever manages to make a case against Kreel stick.

Vamros Harg - The Harg and Eichehardt families both have roots in the region going back long before the establishment of Falcon’s Hollow. They’re pretty sure they’re actually related a few generations back, although nobody can remember exactly how. Regardless, Vamros is an old family friend. A few years older than Winrich, the two halflings played together as children and have maintained a friendship. Vamos was delighted when Winrich married his aide, Lilly, whom he holds quite dear. Winrich is also one of the few people who “officially” know about he and Tabrik’s relationship, and he’s excited to see his friend so happy.

Deldrin Baleson - Winrich’s boss, Sheriff Baleson values the halfling’s zeal and dedication. On Freya’s back, Winrich can often respond to a dangerous situation faster than he or Tabrik can. In addition, more than one belligerent drunkard who’d shown no fear to an armed sheriff quailed and meekly surrendered when they found themselves staring at a snarling wolfdog, and Baleson would just as soon see those sorts of incidents resolved without bloodshed whenever possible. Winrich's friendship with the Magistrate has occasionally been a point of tension when Harg rejected one of the sheriff's cases for one reason or another, but at least as of yet it hasn't led to any major arguments.

Tabrik Splint - Winrich and his fellow deputy aren’t especially close, but they respect each other and get along well. Freya is also friendlier with Tabrik than most, mainly because the dwarf started carrying bits of dried meat to toss her shortly after Winrich began work at the sheriff's office.

How about you worry about the character and let the personality decide? Trust me when I say you're powerful. You have a high stat array and gestalt. I give away goodies all the time, I'm my own worst enemy, I have to try and limit myself. Focus more on coming up with an interesting idea. I gave plenty of characters. Go find a best friend, a family, a lover or an enemy and let that help shape your character.

Think about what profession, perform or craft you are going to do when I tell you "an uneventful month goes by until..." so you have time to fill.

I'm not saying you cant be some super powerful class combo, but why are you here? Why here and not somewhere else if you are an unstoppable killing machine?

The goal is supposed to be more like.... everyday people stepping up when the going gets tough. There are surprising heroes everywhere and people often have talents that don't always shine in their everyday life.

Inno Minate: Hedge Witch, Divine Herbalist Life Oracle

Inno grew up in Falcon's Hollow, at least that's what everyone tells her. She actually doesn't remember much of it, at least not much until she was ten or twelve years old. Most everything before that is 'memory' by tale... she remembers the stories because everyone tells her that she should remember them. She's heard them often enough, they are her memories. How true they are is debatable, and sometimes the stories change slightly between tellers and tellings, leading her to wonder. The most popular story of her arrival is that she was found at the doorstep of Ibarra Snipold after a particularly storm-ridden night, a night filled with rain and winds, lightning and thunder, but at dawn, when Ibarra wandered outside to check on her flock of chickens, she found Inno, wrapped in blue swaddling, cooing merrily and laughing at the clouds in the sky. Ibarra took Inno in, of course, but could not care for her alone, and so, half the town was tasked with raising her at one stage or another. Weeks here, a month there, moving from place to place as she grew, often back again to homes she had been before, when times were good for them, moving out when times were harder.

"Inno Minate in the Old Tongue literally means "No One" or "Having no name", and it is fitting for the girl with no real memory. I have snippets, pieces of dreams, maybe, of a childhood; but I don't know if they are mine, or something I took from someone else when I was taking their pain. That happens, sometimes, when the pain is really intense. What I do know is that I am what they called an empath, that is, I can share, or accept, someone else's pain. It's a blessing and a curse, and it is my life."

Inno is the unofficial ward of Medicine Woman Laurel, having frequently grown up in or around the woman's care. Not because Laurel was desirous of such arrangement, but because of the expediency of keeping the poor, little sick girl near to the healer for most of her childhood. Even when she was farmed out to others, half of Inno's life was spent in the care of Laurel, or the Church. Inno was always sick, or injured: cuts and lacerations, broken bones and mystery ailments. They came quickly, and healed nearly as quickly, luckily for the girl. Inno spent a lot of her time around Roots and Remedies, either being tended too, or learning to tend. With no real parents, Laurel simply allowed her to continue to stay in-between homes, so long as she proved useful. As Inno grew, her sicknesses became fewer and further between, or perhaps, more in Inno's control, as she learned to avoid too many attachments with other children. Once she learned to do that, her health became noticeably better, while the village children's health returned to a more customary "scrapes and bruises plentiful" status as well.

As an adult, Inno makes her living at the Charcoal Ovens, partly as a worker, and partly as a healer. Although she's a decent herbalist, and can fill in for Laurel when the woman needs some time, there is not enough business in Falcon's Hollow to support two adults in the apothecary trade. When Jarlben Trookshavits recognized quickly that he had more production from his workers, because they were not shuffling around slowly from accumulated aches and pains, burns and scars, he discovered the source was Inno, when she delivered meals to the men, or medicines. Her abilities seem to bring a run of good luck to the workers there, with far fewer burns and scars than normal for them. And so, he hired her to work around the ovens, a task that she proved equal to, working just as hard and long as the men.

With Inno at the ovens, fewer men are injured, and more work gets done. Inno, however, bears the brunt of that increased productivity; or perhaps, the worst of it. For those injuries still occur with regularity; those she cannot simply heal by a touch of her hand, she can somehow take into herself, and bear the scars and trauma on her own. Mick's scarred cheek begins to heal, then disappear, and Inno bears the scar for a day herself. A bone, broken under a wagon tongue, is healed with her touch, but she herself cannot bear to walk, or put weight on her leg, for a candlemark or so after. Eventually, the lameness goes away, but at the massive sawmills and scrap ovens, there's always someone needing care, and Inno provides it for them. Jarlben is wise enough to play on Inno's soft side, and tosses in extra pay each month for Inno to donate to her favorite cause around the town, which is usually one of the families of a fallen logger. It's a pittance compared to the production he gains, but it's a lifeline for Inno and the poorer families that have fallen on hard times.

Inno's current charity case was the widow Medias. Her husband had died long ago, a victim of a winter croup that raged the countryside when Inno was a teen. Inno had spent several seasons with the two of them, and their son Terras, as she grew up, summers or winters here and there, when things were bountiful for the family. But the widow's true problems only came when her son, Terras, ran away and disappeared a season before. Until then, Terras had worked in the mills for almost ten years, living happily with his mother and supporting them both. But one day, Terras left the house to go to work, and never returned. People say he had a terrible falling out with Payden Teedum, and they were seen arguing the day he disappeared, but no one knows what they were arguing about. It was enough, it seems, to have made the young man simply leave town. He was last seen walking past his home on the outer road, still quite angry by all appearances. He headed off into a forest path, and was never seen after. Inno has been using her extra money to help the widow make ends meet, and get a few extra chickens in her flock for some self-sustaining income.

I'm super interested in this and I'll be submitting an app soon, I have some flavorful things I want to do that this sounds like a fantastic home for. I wanted to make sure from your description, do humans get their normal feat and extra skill ranks as well as a +2 to two different ability scores here then? Just wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding. The game world sounds lovely and I look forward to potentially participating.
