The drow raises a finger as Reynard unlocks the other cage. He asks the dragon, "Oh yeah, do you know that guy? The other fellow in the cage?"

Angarato raises an eyebrow to Reynard and says, " Well we have to turn one of those trapped gems into the Dig Master first, before we can get access to the mess hall. I will take the 4 gems we have and collect our reward, and meet you guys for dinner. I think the Dragon is a little slow on the uptake and will need some time to come to terms with reality. Once he figures which way is up, he can find us in the mess hall if he so chooses. However, we have a job to do and we can't wait around for ever."
Angarato takes the gem traps they collected and heads toward the Dig Masters tent. "See you guys in a few!" Angarato says as he walks out the room, he can hear the second cage deactivate as he leaves. |

Practically as soon as the fire mephit is released he breaths fire directly at Reynard. Luckily for the others the flames don't go far enough to be a threat to them. The little creature does not seem very happy and mostly seems interested in creating barbeque adventurers (the jar of what looks like barbeque sauce in its cage doesn't help the impression). The little devil looking creature shouts something that sounds almost like the roar of a fire just before bursting into maniacal laughter.

Reynard takes the fire breath full in the face and falls on his ass, patting frantically at his head. The smell of burning hair fills the room and he makes a few choice oaths in Aklo, "You lousy one-tail! You singed my whiskers! SVENT!" A

Basementicus does not like that the little fire mephit caught his friend on fire. He draws a dart coated in paralysis poison (dc14) and throws it at the mephit, sneering all the way.

The dragon attempts to stop you from opening the mephit's cage, but is sighs in irritation when you do. "Guhh... I'm a fae dragon, do you think we really get along with fire mephits much?" The dragon then takes flight and hovers above your heads, directing a euphoria breath attack at the fire mephit. "This might calm you down."

Thomas watches the conversation with his infinite patience, but the time to act is upon him and the time for talk is done. Drawing his sword he diverts his attention to the mephit. Moving with an alarming amount of speed for what is apparently a statue Thomas bounds forward and throws a horizontal slice aimed at chopping the mephit in two.

The damage to the poor mephit isn't enough to drop it alone, but the poisoned dart makes it's mark as well as the euphoric gas. This ends up causing the mephit to drop to the ground with a dumb happy look on it's face and paralyzed, preventing its face from changing. As the mephit drops the group notices that the room now has a door that it didn't have before. It is sitting right between two benches along the wall as if it had always been there. The notable part is that there doesn't seem to be any dust on the door handle.
OOC: Mephit has about 4 HP left and is paralyzed and euphoric. It managed to get absolutely horrible saving throws.

Angarato steps back into the room and says, "Gentlemen, something is afoot, the surroundings have changed out here, the way out appears to be blocked and there are possibly new traps on the wall"
Angarato looks around the room, "Seems to have happened in here as well, there is a new door right over there" pointing to the space between the two benches. "Now if you guys are done playing with the mephit, we may need to pay more attention to the job at hand" Angarato looks directly at the dragon and says "I realize you want to get back to your forest, the problem is there is no forest and as of right now there is no way out. Unless you happen to know something of what is going on with this building, do you? Before you answer that, would you mind terribly giving us your name so that we can address you in a proper manner?" |

Basementicus walks past the stunned mephit to examine the jar in the cell. Mmm, smokey barbecue sauce. He takes the jar and prizes the dart from the mephit's shoulder afterward, firmly grasping it and shoving away with his foot. The thing was stuck in pretty deep. Any poison that was in the chamber was already deposited. Basementicus notes the expression on the creature's face and wonders aloud if his poison caused that.
"That's weird; I don't think mom's paralysis poison is supposed to make his face do that. Hey dragon guy, was that your breath that did that?" Last edited by Explosionguy; Feb 8th, 2014 at 06:25 PM. |

The attack is 6 frost damagesuper-effective and slays the thing. Angarato's words finally registering to him, Reynard asks, "So you're saying we're trapped in here?" The small dragon ceases flight and takes a casual perch on Reynards shoulder. "My breath has always had a way of making people a little loopy, yes. My name is Willowick by the way, please call me that." Willowick then turns to glance at the the doorway. "I'm not entirely sure that I believe you when you say the forest is gone. 'Master'... Well. The librarian. He was always fond of tricks and traps, illusions too. I do know my way around them though, I used to watch him set them."

Basementicus grabs an oatmeal cookie and his waterskin and offers the cookie to Reynard. He would zing Reynard about the ordeal but his friend already got a sick burn.
"Have a cookie. Also, splash some water on yourself. It's kind of warm from being in my pack, but it ought to relieve some of the pain." |
