My Personal Background

I am the type of DM who likes to get to know his players. I guess I am just a people person. Below are some things about myself. I would hope you are also willing to share as we get started, but I also RESPECT your privacy, and there is NO REQUIREMENT to do so.

My real name is Warren. The pseudonym “DigOrig” is from a web design business I used to have, called “Digital Originals”. I am 50 years old, Married 20 years with 5 children, all adults.

I joined the Navy at age 17 and did 4 years as a Corpsman on the East Coast, including 2 years on Submarines. After that I became an EMT, and then went to Nursing School for my LVN at Hermann Hospital, Houston, Texas. Once I finished I realized that I did not want to be a nurse, so I went through Paramedic training for a year (A.S. in Emergency Medicine).

I worked for the 9-1-1 Service in Brevard County, Florida for several years, but was burned out after I had an infant death that I could not save. For a few years I did odd jobs. I also worked as a Nurse on a Cruise Ship (The Big Red Boat).

My wife and I moved to Portland, Oregon for a change of scenery. I went back to school and became an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) to work on computers. When I graduated, I stayed at the school to teach for about 5 years. I have way too many certifications to mention, including A+, Net+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE…you get the idea. I have also served as a Chaplain for Fire and Police Departments, and am an Ordained Minister.

I loved teaching and thought I had finally found my niche. In 2007 I fell and fractured my skull. It was a significant and life changing injury. It took over a year just for my physical recovery. To this day I have been unable to work, and have many issues, including memory problems. I went on Disability in 2010 when we moved back to Houston, Texas and my family.

As part of my therapy I began to write and decided to write and publish a book about Religion. I am currently writing my second book about my time as a Chaplain and the calls I went to. I have also written a fair amount of poetry.

------------------------

I have played D&D on and off since the 1980. I prefer to DM but do also play. I have never liked ‘canned’ games much, and have created more games than I can remember, plus an almost complete RP World. I was a contributor to The World of Farland.

I have played World of Warcraft but recently have been board with it. Perhaps when Mist of Pandaria comes out that will change. I am also a Diablo fan. My BattleTag is: TxWarren #1395

I have played PbP on this site starting in 2005 but stopped due to my injury. It feels good to be back and I hope to have some great times!

Thank you for reading. You get 100 XP

Woo.

My name's Alyssa, I'm an actress living in Melbourne, Australia (coincidentally where my character, Emma hails from, but I figured I'd be able to play that much more realistically given I have little knowledge of America). I'm twenty one years old, huge fan of video games, writing & RPGs, and theater & acting are my lifeblood. One of the main reasons I love playing RPGs is that it blends my favourite aspects of acting and creative writing, especially in a play-by-post setting, but I also play in a very exciting and interesting 4th Edition game on Fridays via Skype using MapTools.

I have a tendency to never stop talking, ever, even when it'd be in my best interests to be quiet! I'm so incredibly happy I found Dungeons & Dragons and RPGs in general on the internet, it's definitely one of the easiest and most fulfilling ways I have of spending my free time (without costing money, starving artist and all that). I have a potential role in an indie TV show lined up, where I may get the chance to play a psychopathic woman who punches people to death with lightning. Apparently it's a bit like Mutant X. I like camp.

I look forward to starting the game, it's gonna be a blast, can't wait to see how Emma fares in the world.

Shalom Haverim,

I am David. I originally come from New York but moved to Israel in January of this year, though I am not yet a new immigrantOleh Hadash, though that is the direction in which I am heading. I live in Jerusalem which is kind of a trip, every day I go past the Old City on the way into work.

I am 23 years old and I just graduated from the George Washington University in 2011 with a BA in international affairs from the Elliott School. I have held down a job since I was 15 years old, many in sales and politics (surprisingly similar if you ask me). I used my life savings to move halfway across the world. The most lucrative thing I ever sold was knives (Cutco) believe it or not. My favorite job until now has been bar tending at a little dive where I was regularly the only native English speaker (it was a mostly Hispanic clientele). I speak essentially no Spanish, but after that experience I can take a drink order and swear like a professional, thats what the patrons thought would be most important for me to learn. Now I work for a philanthropic organization in Jerusalem doing market research and donor outreach (in case you were wondering, yeah that means more sales), but I have learned a lot including a fair bit of Hebrew. It is a fun and interesting Job and can be quite rewarding, especially when I am involved in the project side. My two pet projects now are a youth soccer league for at risk youth and an education project where I am working to raise money for schools for Ethiopian immigrants. Both are awesome and give me more satisfaction than I would have thought possible.

I started role playing with AD&D 2.0 in 1997 when I was a mere rugrat of 7 years old. My first DM was my dad, and twice a month we would have all of the family friends get together and play in an enormous, 10 person party. I started DMing when I turned 13 and though my earlier efforts were fairly rough I eventually found my style and my voice and realized I really love telling the kinds of stories that are possible only through RP. Until 2010 I had never played anything other than D&D, but in 2008 I had an opportunity to play Star Wars Saga. Being a huge Star Wars nerd I loved that game and played my favorite character of all time. A Wookie martial artist and demolitions specialist who was turned into a Sith Abomination when he got captured by the reigning Sith lord of the era (1300 ABY). He then went on a reign of terror across the universe and took on essentially the mantle of the Joker of the galaxy. Since then I have experienced oWoD, d20 Modern, and I just started my first Pathfinder game on this site. I had never played PbP before I came here, but I am glad I found a wonderful community to play with, there are very few RPers where I live now and I am glad to have an outlet. I have already found that I like certain aspects of PbP quite a lot, including the very deep prose that it is possible to write during a PbP game. Though I do miss the immediacy and some of the intimacy that comes with running or playing over a table.

I am also an accomplished fencer, having competed and medaled on the national and then the international level from 2001 until 2007 when I was injured badly during an Olympic trial and had to take a year off, so I decided to drop the competitive side of the sport. Until I moved to Israel I spent many hours a week in fencing clubs training new and promising athletes. I am proud to have trained a girl who was a national champion in 2009 and several other medalist in U.S. national competitions throughout my career as a coach. I still love to challenge the young guns, because even though I am slower both in hands and feet than I ever was when I was competitive but I am smarter now too, and I can draw on my long experience to find and make openings that I didn't even know about a few years ago. I recently picked up an epee, it was the only weapon I hadn't competed in, and I have been training with a Russian Olympian in Jerusalem, it has been a lot of fun, and has helped me to acclimate to my new surroundings. I drew on my personal knowledge of the sport to help design Greasy's background, and all of the fencers I mentioned from the FC are real people who I have had the honor to train with or compete against.

Anyway, that's my story. I am looking forward to playing with all of you, I am sure that this is going to be one of the truly memorable games.

Hi all, I'll flesh this out later, but I wanted to say hi and express how stoked I am for the game. @Dig, great to see a fellow bubblehead! I'm an old STS2(SS) off the USS Augusta. Look forward to playing with you guys!

All right, here we go. My real name is Evan, and I just turned 30 last month (terrifying!). I've been playing D&D for about 22 years or so, since we found my dad's old AD&D books at my grandparents' house. I have played a bunch of different tabletop games over the years, but for the last 5 or 6 it's been mainly PbP. I've been here on DNDog for a while, but took on a little too much about a year ago and kinda burned out. Now that life has steadied out a little, I am back.

I sell cars at a Land Rover dealership (look familiar?) and am attending classes in my (relatively nonexistent) spare time. I like to write, and have been at the 'gathering information' stage of writing a book for about a year and a half now. I will eventually start the actual writing, I promise! I generally prefer to play flawed and/or non-traditional characters. Generally I am the anti-munchkin, but it is fun to play a power character from time to time.

This current character for this game is pretty well modeled on my life, except that my wife is wonderful and still with me, and we have our first child due in October. As a result, I never ended up going into the Merchant Marine or any such thing, but I have had a pretty eclectic life. I've painted houses, pushed carts at Home Depot, been a Sonar Technician on a nuclear submarine, flunked out of Tulane, sold microwave/radar components, sold suits, and am now selling cars. I love video games, and I am currently playing a lot of World of Tanks and EVE Online.

Beyond that, I have a dog (that got hit by a car the other day but is going to be fine) and two cats, one of which is diabetic. I live in the Boston, Massachusetts area, and enjoy Piña Coladas and getting caught in the rain.

Hello everybody, don't like to be a copy-cat but I am going to have to be doing what Ollie is pulling. Kinda busy, just wanted to see if I got into this game (made my day to find out YES).

Can't wait to play with you guys!

First Note: I apologize to you DigoRig; I looked back onto my past accounts on Gaia (explained later) and found I did it for seven, not four years and D&D for the same amount of time, if not a little less. I don't know what I was thinking, I have been having a few memory problems lately for some reason.

Wow, kind of feel like a small fish here...not that it is a bad thing; shows me I have a lot more to learn in the world. Anyway, my real name is Christian and I am from Hawaii (technically born there but not raised entirely, always had trouble answering that question) but have been living in Minnesota for the last several years with my mom and sister. I have a rather diverse background, though not as interesting as others; I have lived in eight different cities, four different states (Minnesota, Georgia, Florida, and Hawaii) attended ten different schools (from kindergarten to High School), to say the least I am well versed in the U.S. and it's different cultures. Currently I am looking to go back into College after having a lot of father issues over the years (yeah yeah, I know it's Cliche) which indirectly had me withdraw but I am no longer letting it hold me back. I work as a Cashier/Sales person at my local Toys R' Us for the last year, along with some other odd jobs, saving up money to go back to my home of Hawaii.

I have been Role-Playing about as long as I have D&D from online forums (Gaia Online, if any of you have heard of it) and at first I was a little shy about doing it since I am pretty self-conscious about my writing. I have always loved to act (not at a performing level, just high school and stuff) and liked to write stories/poems out of leisure and decided to give it a try; best decision I have ever made. As others have already stated, it is a great feeling to have your written work read and appreciated even if from people you will never meet in real life and it has helped fuel my desire to write even further, almost winning a state level contest in my first year of High School. I came in third, it was a biography of my grandfather's life and how he helped me become the person I was today, but I lost out because my grammar wasn't the greatest and it still isn't; more so punctuality and sentence/paragraph structure. I have been Role-Playing for the last seven years, in and out of Gaia.

I have been playing D&D 3.5 for about seven years, when I was in Florida in my Freshman year (go figure). I had always heard about the game but never had the opportunity to find someone near me that would teach me and therefore never spent any money on it. Once this group of Seniors invited me, for what reason I have no clue but they were awesome, to start playing with them; I was instantly hooked. I loved RPG's in video games since I was five, Pokemon was the first for me, but D&D provided a level of depth and uniqueness that I had never felt before and it WILL be a life-long pursuit of mine to play, whether online or in real-life. I have also had the experience to play Pathfinder, d20 Modern, Legend of the Five Rings (L5R), and a variance of the WoD's d10 system. And I have been playing PbP on DnDog for about three years now, though really two years and six months...I went on a hiatus from here for personal reasons until a few months back but now back and here to stay!

An if there is anything else you would want to inquire about me, don't hesitate to ask; I am a friendly people person, I swear. lol

EDIT Note: A mere 21 in RL here. lol

I work for a railroad and have been playing since i was a wee teen back in junior high. My brother introduced me to gaming and i find it relaxing and keeps my mind active. I played Lotro and Wow, but i found after a bit there is nothing like the freedom to write your own path. I am kind of quiet, but i will get in a mood sometimes and post a novel......okay maybe a five paragraph...okay no ten, but maximum of twenty paragraph if i get really motivated and into a situation. I am a bit on the racey side as my application suggestions but in no way am i like that in real life. I just like to keep things edgy in games and be something i am not in real life.....which is why i like role playing! I am single been divorced twice no kids.

I am excited to play as i have always wanted to play a survival game, i actually went online and bought the core book for d20 modern and apocalypse tonight before i found out i was accepted.

Please don't kill me anyone!!!!

Just a note that I won't reply to each of you, but I do read all of these. Thanks to all that post, and no worries to those that choose to keep RL and RP separate. You still get the 100 XP if you at least read them.

My name is Dan. I'm 35, live in Illinois, and work in the music industry, which is far less sexy than it sounds. About the best I can do is say there's one degree of separation between me and Quincy Jones. Of course, there used to be one degree of separation between me and the Unabomber, too, so I don't think the whole Kevin Bacon thing is worth all that much.

Beyond that I'm about as boring as it gets. I like card and board games, with cribbage, scrabble, and xiangqi being favorites. I have a rare-ish blood type, a kind that benefits others when I donate.

I learned to play D&D in 8th grade, I think on AD&D. I didn't really play again until late college, and was gaming fairly regularly from 2001-4 or so, still AD&D; my group was determined not to adopt 3rd Edition. If they still play, odds are good they still haven't adopted it. I learned to play D20 Modern about four years ago. I bought the book and got a group together, but it fizzled quickly; I think I was the only one really interested.

Wow, so my like is pretty boring in comparison. I tend to go by Vincent when not on the site, though that will vary based on who is talking to me. I live in the western U.S., have a wife with three kids (fourth is on the way), and I'm a full-time student at a local community college. Currently working on getting two A.A. degrees, in Communication and Business. Plan on using the Business credits to transfer to a university to get a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Marketing. So I have at least five years left in school, which is disappointing but will eventually be worth it.

As I mentioned previously, I have a kid on the way which is due in late September. This one will be my first to go along with the three step-children I have. My wife and I actually got married about a month and a half ago, which was planned far before she got pregnant thank goodness. So I'm enjoying all the fun of being married and having a child on the way now.

As for playing RPGs, I started back in 2007 with some roommates who had D&D 3.5e and found the expression of imagination to be a blast. After I moved out later that year, I found the site in March 2008 because they told me about it. Ended up taking about a year off once I joined because I became very sick, in which I was admitted into the hospital in the beginning of 2009 and was informed that all my health issues were stemming from being a type 1 diabetic. Once I got that figured out, I came back since I could concentrate better. Of all the RPGs I have played, 3.5e, Pathfinder, and now 4e are the most common. I did try Shadowrun back in 2006, but there wasn't a lot of time because we all started moving away from one another. This will be my first attempt at d20 Modern, so it may take a small adjustment to get used to having current items rather than archaic items to use.

Finally, as for my screen name, it stems from the first tabletop game in 2007, where I played an orge named Grogg. He had a very childlike nature about him and was trying to hide from one of the other characters by pretending to be a tree by standing with his arms out, gently swaying in the breeze of the cave we were in (as I said, he wasn't the smartest). When asked what he was doing, the orge replied, "Grogg tree." That phrase stuck when those roommates told me about this site and here I am.

I'm not really going to go into detail, so this will be relatively short. For the record - I'm Player Number 9. And I can neither confirm, nor deny, that I am hunting all of you as a super villain. I can't remember if anyone here was in Davion's Zombie Apocalypse game with my serial killer character, if you were - sorry if I killed you (I think I only killed one or two characters, that I know of. If anyone else died in the ensuing zombie horde....well I tried to give you time to get away. But NOOOO you had to come in and talk to me anyway.)

Anyway, I go by David, Dave, a whole host of nicknames, and more recently someone has decided to call me "boss", which I find odd. I grew up in Louisiana (the whole state, moved a lot) and initially went to college for Computer Science at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, but only stayed 1 year before I got bored. I started playing DnD on this site sometime in high school (which I graduated in 2006). I started playing DnD in middle school when someone brought the AD&D box in on a "game day" or some such thing. None of us really understood the rules, so we made some up and played with those for a few weeks. In highschool we decided to read the book (which was 3e at that point) and started playing, but we all sucked at DMing. I found the Macross Roleplaying Community which was similar to DnDOG, except there is only 1 campaign and everyone plays in it (broken into different military units). I tried to play in that but was apparently too young to grasp the concept.

I found this place, signed up, and have been here ever since. I played in Davion's "What May Come..." for about 2.5 years, and then in his Zombie game for a few months, but other than that have had little success in finding games that last more than a couple months. I haven't been in a game for over a year now (online) but am currently in a table top Game of Thrones game (awesome system, worth playing) and spend an obnoxious amount of time trying to convince people to run Cortex-based games. I am also obsessed with the 3.5 Eberron setting (which I have converted to Cortex) and have yet to find someone willing to run an Eberron game, although one of these days I plan to get into one of Keith Baker's game sessions at GenCon.

I recently eloped (have a wedding planned), but have no kids.

I suppose that was longer than I expected....and that was the short version.

Alright, astoundingly blunt and incredibly true. Hyena gets to talk now. >_>

Flat basics; My name is Kyle Hart, in all truth its an alias, but I -hate- my given name, and fully intent on changing it. I'm 17, turning 18 July 2nt.I was born in California, then moved to Texas, then to Arizona before finally moving to Ohio.. I hate Ohio. I was raised roman catholic, by a single mother. I personally am agnostic however, as well as being a homosexual. I was homeschooled since the third grade, and just went into public education again last year. As such I've never had an in person bf. I do however date online, I recently dated a guy for a little over 9 months, and have known him for approximately 2 years, I was engaged to him briefly, before we ended up breaking up, and I am now single, and not looking. I have been roleplaying on web forums like gaia online since age 6 or so, and have been interested in DnD for over 2 years. I am just now getting to play it online. I'm vice president of my highschool's anime club, and president/founder of the schools D&D club, which will be official starting next school year. I also love to cook, and try out different foods. I'm a fusion chef myself, but I'll try just about anything.

That about summarizes it I think.. do I get that 100 xp now? >_>

Hi All,
I'm new here. My name is Ray. I'm 29, but not for much longer. I'm from the east coast of the US, Virginia, unlike my character who is from North Carolina. I work for the US Department of Agriculture. I have never played an official game of D&D. Though when I was a little kid, my neighbor played and I got familiar with it a little. I have played several other table top games, though not extensively. I have been interested in getting into D&D style games for sometime now and am glad to have found this community. My interests are broad, but definitely include movies, video games, TV, and comic books. Much like Ed (my character), I have degrees in plant biology, though not a PhD. Oh, I love cooking and my wife loves that I cook, so that works out well for both of us. I have two dogs that I love very much and am very pro-dogs.

nice to meet you.

Howdy. My name is Ethan, also Robot. I live in the deserty lands of Southern California, and just recently graduated with a BS in Mathmatics from UCR. I play quite a few games, video and tabletop both. I'm terrible at talking about m'self, and can't really think about anything else to throw out there.
