I would love to forfeit a language for a skill but it seems to me that learning the language of the archons of the Martyr Evelyn(celestial) and the language of the demons and devils who oppose them (Abyssal/Infernal) would be something that a priestess who may one day rise in the ranks would learn.

There's always the Prodigy feat sometime down the road.

Lol, all the -ira's with their covered heads!!!

Actually, I was thinking of a veil too, for those reasons, but steered away from it because I wasn't sure if you wanted Tahira to stand out more with her foreign shayla, but if you're cool with it I think I'll go back to it. (Even though Kaylid isn't an -ira). I imagine the particular wrapping and style/length Tahira does is different enough from the prevailing temple fashion.

And because I play historical miniatures here is how I envision a Chapter fielded for a battle:

The Skirmishers only job is to delay the enemy right flank.

The Foot Sergeants slowly plod forward to pin the enemy center.

The Knights in wedge with Mounted Sergeants to fill in the rear ranks of each squadron charges the enemy left flank, crushes it, and then turns the flank on the pinned center, winning the battle.

Of course that is the plan... the reality often fails to live up to the dream.

edit: I really need to get a life

Or something else...

The Priestess wants to know what you look like.

I am partial to red but prefer a fleur to a cross:

but there is something to be said about the white tabard that signifies purity of faith.

of course the tabard could be of a uniform color but with the Knights family Crest since they are the lowest order of nobility.
the Shield would then be of uniforn color (which might be different for each chapter) with the Martyr Evelyn's Holy Symbol as its emblem.

yup- I just got to know... eagerly waiting to see how our Knight of the Shield goes with it.

Well, since the religion iconography is a red spear on a white background, that's how I've envisioned Hadrian (who is definitely going sword-and-board pally anyway) -- white tabard and shield with a red spear symbol.

But I'm open to whatever the other a paladins have considered?

You guys are awesome! I'm grateful you're all so into the iconography of your characters.

My girlfriend (who can do those sorts of things, unlike my own visually impaired self) is drawing up my character in her spare time, so when she has it done at the end, I'll post it here to give you all an idea of what we've been thinking.

Landsknechts, I think the spear should be pointed downward. It's more symbolic. The spear that pierced Evelyn sounded to me as if had been coming down on Bartholomew but she threw herself in the way. The point was facing downward then and I think they would have captured that in iconography.

Also, Plum, where do we Knights rant in that order Landsknechts gave us? I'm assuming either sergeant or knight.

ooh, a hand drawn picture, exciting!

I'd say you're all ranked at Knight.

Man...that's what I get for watching football, I missed a whole theological discussion!

Question: if elves/half-elves are rare, what about halflings?

@ Andor - We'll go with there being a halfling settlement in the southeastern hills of Rhyfel. It was uninhabited by the humans and in typical halfling fashion...no one knows where they came from or how long ago they arrived. At least a couple generations. After the humans kicked the orcs out but long enough that any living halflings were born there.

@ Arthilian01 - I don't know half of the humans half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of them half as well as they deserve.

@Tom - Works for me, thanks!
