Sayyida looks toward Mako and winks a single bright eye at him in jest, black teeth encased in dirty lips as she smiles his way and makes a small bow of her head as if indicating her understanding and insinuating she was playin Fred only for the mere fun of it. She listens to everything said but makes no comment besides to shrug a single shoulder at the Hobgoblin's obvious anger at Lord Ahsfel. Lord Ashfel had yet acquiesced and as such she continued to lounge against the wall near the brazier relishing the warmth while silently grimacing over the idea of returning to the cold outside. When Ashfel spoke, then she would move to get skis or snowshoes, not before. The death knight's words did not concern her, at least that is how it outwardly appears. Inside, Sayyida itches still to draw blades and put her down knowing that so soon after exhibiting her ability she may nor may not be weaker in the next few hours. But that would have to wait.

Dante This wasn't exactly what Dante had been hoping for, but he had no choice but to go along with it for now.

Gearing up for the cold weather as he laces the appropriate snow gear to his feet, he keeps a close eye on the newcomers as well as those who were loyal to Vixen.

This was going to be a treacherous trip for one and all, and Dante had to keep a level head or he wasn't going to come through it alive.

AshfelGrumbling, Ashfel directs Mako with his staff to pick up the bag of gems from the ground. He gives a curt reply to Agata, "Twas your own misunderstanding, which I will seek to rectify." He looks over to his two other Darakyan lackies with a nod of his head, "Guess you lot are in for the longer haul. Catching some nobles capable of emptying a fort of pirates armed with not but their bare bodies and fists."

With some flare of his cape he follows along after the pirates, "Not paying you enough to die, so let the pirates take first blows if it comes to it." Ashfel 'kindly' instructs, likely at the ready to curse the death knight wench as they left her immediate presence to get shoes.

Tatsuo-Mako, Wild Goose ChasingThe decision is a surprise to no one under the circumstances. It seems that they are off. Mako gives a deferential bow to Lord Ashfel. With a graceful sweep, he takes up the gem pouch in hand and tucks it away on his belt.

Pulling out a set of snowshoes from his pack, the acolyte bends down to lace them up. Glancing up at the priestess, a knowing smirk plays on his features as he ripostes her threat, "'Tis but a beginning. But our path remains elsewhere for now." Standing back up with a smooth smile, "So, we shall follow you in the valley of the shadow of death," he bids with a Take 10 on Diplomacy/Bluff: 22 for mixed sincerity/exaggeration of respect.gracious air. "Might I have a name for m'lady?"

On the road to Nuxvar- " The name is Mortiana Carr, sister of the raven's whisper. Walk with me on your last journey, young soul. " The party steps outside into the valley of the shadow of death, or so believe the priestess. The pirates' captain finds the four cowards that left the scene earlier when Vixen got disintegrated by the will of Nanyl. Moss' threats convince them to move forward toward Nuxvar with them, increasing their numbers, but definitely not an improvement in quality. The sunrays are helpless to pierce the thick clouds floating over their heads, the cold surrounds them and the world they once knew sinks from sight as they move forward through the curtain of snow. Chilling wind is blowing toward them, like sandpaper scratching their face. It's surprising how the sea is noisy on their right side, the waves crashing on the coast cover the sound from their snowshoes crunching in the snow. Occasionally they can isolate the icy smell of pine trees on their path. It doesn't take long for the predators of the white hills to notice the five travelers, a pack of nine wolves are stalking them, patiently, hoping one of them will die from the weather and become their next meal. - " Freaking animals! " Conrad the half-orc shot a crossbow bolt in their direction and they run away from the large party of men. The priestess and her three goons are walking first, not concerned at all that the Pirates could try something against them.

Nuxvar
right-aligned image
Nuxvar
Nuxvar is only a couple of miles from the prison, but feels far. They underestimated how hard surviving that land would be. Their hellish trip took a couple of hours total. Nuxvar is a coastal town in the northern country of Darakya. It's located 100 miles west of a large city called Xana. The place is known for her unusually large cathedral constructed in the honor of Nanyl, goddess of death. About 1500 souls live in this place, which is about two hundred building and a harbor that can host up to three two masts ships at a time. From their distance, the party can see the shadow of a large building in the middle of town that looks like a gothic cathedral, and that's about it.

The city center is dominated by the cathedral and few large impressive gothic buildings that were constructed by an ancient kingdom that is no more. Since then a couple of hundreds of buildings were constructed around by more modest people. There are many longhouses and cabins made from thick wooden logs. There are ruins around the town, that were once a stone wall with towers that were destroyed in forgotten wars. There are no guards, multigeneration families packed in those longhouses, sharing hearth and resources to survive. The party makes it to the middle of town without hindrance, nobody seems to be giving a hell about possible attacks after all even the most foolish raiders couldn't do much in this weather.

Arriving on site, the hobgoblin is trying to take the lead. - " There's a lot of building to search, we should start by the local inn and ask questions. " The priestess raises her helmet to look at him, her blue eyes are half open, cold and tired. Her facial complexion is white like snow, with a good collection of old scars. Hard to say her age, her skin looks young, but her expressions old and wise. She is not impressed by the captain suggestion.

Dante Dante stayed quiet during much of the trek, not only to keep others focus elsewhere, but because it was too cold to talk needlessly.

They finally make it to the town, a ruined dot on the edges of a forgotten continent.

Funny, how a town so irrelevant to the empire was playing such an important part in a game that not even those closest to the pieces could hardly see.

While I would love nothing more than a chance to warm by the fire, I think we should focus on their route into town. If they took the rowboats as we surmise, theyíd have come through the docks. And what of the contacts in town? Though if weíre going to have an indepth discussion, we may as well do it at the inn.

Dante scans the audience to see if the group has a general consensus.

I could go for something warm. Anything warm.
OoCIím not on the list of people present, should I be offended?

FredFred smirked a little as the pirate released his bolt at their stalkers, snidely referring to them as animals. Were the pillagers of the sea so much above that of a tundra. In the end it was just one of the many observations of the underbelly of the world that amused him so, especially in how it reflected the polite society he had served.

With little else to distract him from the freezing winds Pacho moved his mind inward, letting the priestess name sound over and over in his head in hopes of drudging up something useful.

As the they moved through the city he took what pleasure he could in the contrast between the ancient cathedrals and new abode which had sprung up around. Like moss on a forgotten statue there was a unique beauty to such a sight.

It was not until the monk spoke up that Pacho got his mind back on mission and he began to wonder what will they do if they find their former cellmates. His eyes scanned his companions. How far would they go to protect their cover? At least now they were stalking a false lead and both Fred and Pacho could do with some warmth

Sayyida was cold and tired after the trek to Nuxvar. Anyone else making that trek would need warmth and shelter. They'd search for some place to bed down or start a small fire while trying to stay out of sight. She doubted her past companions would simply walk into the inn unless they were hopeless. But it's not her decision to make, nor does she think her role to speak up. Rana's Ashfel needed to take the lead and make inroads with the priestess or at least seem competent.

Cold. Not stupid. Lord Ashfel them not at inn. Them in hiding, small fire, or none, and bedded down."Maama. Kahore he kuware. E kore a Ashfel e tuku ia ratou i te whare. Ko ratou i te huna, i te ahi iti, i te kore ranei, a ka takoto ki raro," she says in her flowing tongue quietly to Lord Ashfel as she makes his side. "Pirate Captain no sense," she says more loudly in an exasperated tone.

While Lord Ashfel dealt with the Death priest, Sayyida keep her eyes out into the cold hoping that her prior cell-mates had already left, that they could not be found, and that they were not already dead.

AshfelA long trek through the snow was something that was inevitable, it was put off for a whole night, but now everyone is chasing after those that didn't make such a delay. Not that Ashfel, in this act, truly understood the labor that was before them. He simply was happy to remove the blasted snowshoes from his feet that hampered his usual walking pattern.

With some pirates joining them on this trip, as well as the armored priestess, there was much anxiety in the air. Truly it was a wonder that they did not return to their ship and come to Nuxvar by boat. What simpletons did they have to be to believe that tracks could be kept with all the snow and chill in the air. Truly the cold bit to the bone, even with the furs, leather and weather cloaks that were borrowed from the pirates' arsenal. Ashfel, and the one acting as him, longed for some warmth at last.

The old noble walked up to where the priestess and the captain stood, addressing them both, "Depending on how long ago your prisoners fled from your embrace, illustrious Captain Moss. They likely could have taken the first ship heading to real civilization, if they arrived in this township at all." The urge to cough hit an appropriate time so his brief pause was filled with the sound of his lungs hacking. He waved away what was likely ready assistance by one of his underlings. Ashfel continued, directing his speech at the priestess, "You hold some of the reins here, Lady Carr. Send the seadogs to the docks to find whatever passes as a dockmaster to see what ships left and with what passengers to make sure those nobles had not taken up an escape. With the state of this place, we will have no such luck pinning them in by land-" A bit early for delivery, Ashfel presents another, minor coughing fit, "Blasted weather." He, through his mask, glares at Sayyida, "Every time I hear someone speak Darakyan, by the gods I can tell the temperature drop."

Looking back at the priestess, Ashfel starts, "My men will go to the markets, the prisoners carried much wealth with them. Someone had to have bought something. You and I, Lady Carr. Can visit an inn or two to question proprietors." He looks back at 'his men', "Don't get lost or dying without permission. Meet back at the inn if you find anything."

Tatsuo-Mako, Wild Goose ChasingThe march through the snowy fields is laborious, but even the inhospitable north is an improvement over the despair of the cages. There is plenty of time to consult discretely via messaging among the four infiltrators. Mako refreshes that their allies' course would have included finding some place called the Big Hammer at Nuxvar. That would make for a great means to check on their allies' progress and direction without letting their foes in on it.

Unlike his father, the spy is far more of a city boy. Thus, the arrival at what passes for civilization in this treacherous region is a welcome sight after the wilderness trek. The towering cathedral 'for Nanyl if memory serves' is a rather prominent landmark as the mixed group walks up. He regards the priestess. She appears cold & grim, reminding of his mother's tales of the shinigami of her homeland. Motioning toward the massive edifice, he hazards a question to her, "Sister Carr, hail you hence?"

Once in Nuxvar proper, they listen to the suggestions about tracking down the prisoners, the captain's meager one, the new pirate's more reasonable one, and Ashfel's more in depth proposal. Mako lends his Take 10 on Diplomacy: 22.
- Staying away from that roller as long as I can -
silver tongue toward splitting up. "M'lord has spoken. There is a lot of ground to cover in this town. We can cover more of it quicker by splitting up. Sound the divisions adequate to all?"

Sa'Odoshi grin is an evil looking thing as she sides up next to Fred and throws her right hand over him and clasps his opposite shoulder. She is taller than Fred by some and she jostles him closer, back a forth, a few times as she speaks.

"Me. Fred. Hunt each other," she says in way of declaring the split. Perhaps her command of common makes her forget a few intervening words normally placed in such a sentence or perhaps she knows exactly what she says. Only she really knows.

Fred may have some premonition of Sa'Odoshi's words unless the animosty between the pair is contrived.

NuxvarThis is not your typical modern town from the south. There are other shops, or at least what looks like places to trade. The only inns in town look like public longhouses where travelers gather and share hearth. This kind of place is packed and not good for privacy. While they discuss their options two men are leaving one of those longhouses nearby, they could hear a lot of people chatting inside when the door opened. One is in the mid-30s, while the other one is much older. They are both covered with fur from head to toe, lightly armed with dagger and handaxe. They are walking on the side of the building and one nod respectfully in direction of the Nanyl's priestess before going for a pee between two buildings.

The priestess listens to the suggestion with a stoic expression and points out the longhouse form where the two men came out. - " Captain Moss, you go in there with your That include Flint and Conradsix men. " A raven coming from nowhere dive on them, taking the party by surprise, and land on the hobgoblin's right shoulder. - " What the heck is that ball of feathers? " The bird responds in kind, screaming loudly in his ears. Before the pirate tries to get rid of it, Mortiana explains. - " This is one of my companions, you will take him with you. We'll be back here in a few hours, whatever you do don't leave town! " The captain doesn't like to receive orders from her and grumbles with a cold stare toward the priestess. He understood and takes a few steps toward the longhouse. " Grrrrrr... Damn you priestess. Dante stays to keep a friendly eye on all of you. Come'on boys! Let's ask a couple of questions in there. "

The holy daughter looks at the pirates moving out while resting the shaft of her flail on her shoulder. - " Old man, since it was your idea you will go to the docks with your The PCsgoons and Dante. " She looks again toward the pirates who are disappearing in the large building. - " After you are done looking around, join with Captain Moss and wait for me. That would be all. "

FrechoIt was her gate which finally gave the little hag away. He scolded himself for not noticing the magpie like strut earlier. His entire purpose in life before this debacle was to weave together the intricate web of friend and foe surrounding the great admiral. And here before him stood one of the queens more formidable rivals prancing about almost unnoticed until now .

He could still hear Zephyrs neuritic mumbles over the trouble the little witch cause the queen. Troubles which she happily took out on the bastard spymaster for his failure to keep track of the cunning little wench, troubles likely helped along by the double agent by his side and in his bed. The turncoats face frumpled on as the dumb brute of Fred, but inside Pacho mourned the pain he had caused his lover.

Fred cursed his hunched posture as Saídoshi jostled him about. He wanted to stand tall and knock her off balance but all he could do in his current role is grumble and scowl. "Ya weghch crumlede bred box" he began only to be cut off by the ominous voice of the cleric. Fred hip bumped SaíDoshi as best he could and gave Nanylís representative the attention she commanded.

The cut throat needed little to know who the woman was, she did little hide it. Stories and tall tales about the deaths beauty crawled through the spy circles faster than court gossip. Some little curious spylings had even attempted to peak into mother deaths nest but few survived, and those who did only came back with more horror and mystery. Pacho would've been nervous, but his fear knew such emotions would only bring him closer to her claws. All he could do was continue on and hope the macabre flail does not fall upon his skull.

As the priestess finished Fredís eyes darted to Mako and Ashfel and await their command. His gaze fell particular hard on the spy, wanting to share his revelation. Tatsuo had spent far more time outside Patrenia and would likely know far better what the halfling had been up following her departure little quarrel with the queen.

Dante Lovely. Dante mutters under his breath as the captain volunteers him for babysitting duty.

A raven, I suppose carrion birds would follow death, even this far north.

This is the last thing Dante had wanted - to be stuck with these greedy cut throats, who appeared to be treacherous even by pirate standards. He had really wished to stay with the Lady MacDeath. She was the one he wanted to ingratiate himself with, at least for now. She, and that halfling captain, were his ticket off this two bit stinking pirate operation.

The disposal of Vixen had been fortuitous enough, but this was going to be difficult to work to his advantage.

As Lady Carr summarized her final decision Dante simply nodded, Yes, mílady.

Dante didnít need any more instructions - it was simple enough. Find the lost merchandise, neutralize any threats, and try to get caught up in whatever twisted web these four were spinning.

A snake has no use for such things, Dante would strike - and be gone before anyone knew what had happened.

Come on then, every moment we dawdle our pay is walking farther away. Dante heads for the docks, with or without his charges.

Sa'Odoshi starts to head out, then stops and makes a half turn toward Ashfel. The Lord hadn't spoken and, although it is obvious he has no choice in the decision, she remembers that he still is the one that gives her her orders, not the priest of the dead god.

She looks up into the sky. Nothing but a blanket of grey can be seen, layers and layers of gossamer clouds piled up until even the sun has trouble finding itself, appearing only as a slightly lighter orb within the fogged sky. Snow falls in huge swirling patterns, dancers moving vigorously in and out as they circle and sway around each other. The air is exceedingly brisk, so cold that it almost hurts for her to breath and obliterates the stink of the city. She pulls her cloak tight and its skin shifts in dappling subdued greys as if trying to melt with the weather and hide Sa'Odoshi despite the meanderings of the surrounding luminosity.
