Enoch

Matt seems somewhere between elated and embarrassed as Kali pulls away. He even stumbles a step, but it doesn't matter. This must be what bliss feels like. He'd felt something similar after he'd cured Violet's cancer, though that was mingled with profound relief and days filled with sandwiches, tears, and fourteen hours' sleep until they had been contacted by the nevermind which department we're with.

This was... More intense. He'd thought it the right thing to do after the breakthrough in Manaus, but hadn't really grasped what he was signing up for any more than he had when he'd taken Kali's hand... Claimed her, in a matter of speaking... In Death's throne room. Both events turned out to be much more profound and life-altering.

Somehow, he was in his seat, and Orrin had said something, tapped him on the shoulder. Apparently a dazed 'hm?' was exactly the punchline his best man was looking for, and the table erupted in laughter. There was food... Who needed food at a time like this? A pang from his stomach answered, apparently his nanites did. He hadn't eaten or slept much for the past... Well. Day or so. So they were probably working overtime already. He set into the food, then smiled with an idea. He began feeding Kali, and Kali him. A few awwws were heard, they both laughed at their own shared secret as the course continued.

Sapphire was a bit toned down for her normal self, not about to let loose and take any focus off of Kali.
She ate like a lady, and drank a simple apple ale. She adjusted seats so she could talk to the Pastor, and asked what she was curious about, though it was small talk.

"So, Pastor. How long have you know about... all this behind the veil stuff that's going on?"

Kodama had been with Kali through most of the process, finding a dress, trying on jewelry, make up, the final preparations. Even with all that foresight, even with all her involvement, even she wasn't fully prepared for Kali coming down the aisle. There was something more that couldn't really be explained and she didn't bother to try.

She stood up there as the ceremony proceeded, watching love unveiled and had just a couple cases of the sniffles and one careful dab of her eyes. Naturally, Kodama kept smiling all throughout, it would have been impossible not to.

When they were at last seated, Kodama was a little surprised she was at the 'head' table. She would've have expected the officiant to be in her place, but it was still an honour to be placed there, as it was an honour to be a member of the bridal party.

With the Maid of Honour and the Best man appropriately still flanking the happy couple, Kodama spends a fair amount of time chatting up Violet about how Heather and Shawn are doing and other weddings that they've attended. She also managed to throw in a hint that she had a surprise for Heather that should not be missed before they go.

Wraith, Sapphire, Skyfire, Enoch, and Kodama
The rest of the meal is excellent, as expected; alcohol flows to those who wish, though the staff seem to be experts at switching out drink orders juuuust before someone gets tipsy enough to be rowdy. Delicately prepared pheasant, exquisite fruits and vegetables, the finest spices... it soon becomes clear that Oberon arranged for the best of the best be delivered and prepared by what could very well be his personal chefs.

Pastor Walsh is fairly conversational, explaining that he's hunted monsters since he was a 'daft lad in seminary', but that he'd prefer for his views on deities to remain as they currently were.

The food is delicious, but not heavy, and soon the fae musicians have set up and begun to play. From there, barely minutes pass before Kali drags Matt out to the floor, some prearranged sign beginning the music. It's a song they've practiced before, and while they probably won't be winning any awards, they at least make it look good enough. Oberon and Fathom join them for the next song, then Lee and Violet, then even La'anah and Wraith; the songs get livelier as the night goes on, couples and singles rotating in and out as the mood slowly moves from romantic to celebratory and back again. Marcel and Inka dance a surprisingly good waltz together, Kody and Gunther, even Samael and Anya, though with varying levels of alcohol and skill. The angel food cake is cut and ceremonially mashed into the couple's mouths by the other, before being dispersed to the rest of the party.

The tossing of the bouquet was carried out with some style and great anticipation, a quick flutter -and lack of conspiracy from those who wanted to see Cat called out- sending Virtue squarely into the path of the bunch of flowers, leading to a moment of silence before a braying laugh from Daisy and general amusement for all. The garter is carried out with slightly more trepidation as groom and bride both balk a little at the idea of dress-diving for an audience, but the dancing soon begins again and it's carried off without quite so large a gathering, Epirus snagging the fabric band and giving an exaggerated wink to Virtue before returning to his seat with a slight stagger.

After many, many long hours, the merriment begins to wane as people finally tire, a privy conversation with Marcel and Orrin arranging a trip back and forth from the base for the bride and groom to grab prepacked luggage before returning to Poseidon's realm in preparation for departure to New Orleans. It's been long enough that bellies are starting to rumble, and at an invitation from Oberon, many descend back to the banquet for one last round.

After the wedding
Honeymooners!
Emotion had crested and not quite faded as they pair left the wedding proceedings, moving via portal to New Orleans for dinner with Marcel. Both Enoch and Kali were all smiles pretty much the whole night, looking to each other and sharing a laugh in the middle of a mental conversation. They made for poor guests at what was a superb meal, but Marcel was gracious enough to be understanding. They did thank him again for his thoughtful gift and hospitality, but didn't linger long over dinner before seeking the sanctuary of their hotel room.

Not much sleep was had by either of them, and they showed up early to board the cruise liner. Kali marveled openly at it's size and the bustle around the port and ship, Enoch was impressed. Their accommodations were first class all the way, but they did not much more than drop off their things in the luxurious cabin before returning to the deck.

The love boat!
Kali found something even more pressing than dragging Enoch to their room. The ocean! And a case of seasickness that was mitigated by a strong dose of Dramamine that Enoch had thoughtfully packed. They watched the port shrink away in wonder, and spent several hours just enjoying each other's company and watching the ocean. The sunset, and they had shared few up to this point, was spectacular, as was the moon. They camped out on the deck all night, with the occasional drink or snack to keep them company, sharing the sunrise together.

Enoch's Island
Their first port of call was the posh De Palm island in Aruba. A long day of enthusiastic play in the water park ensued, interspersed with tropical drinks, a snorkeling expedition, and some time just sitting on the dock snuggling and watching the fish play.

Safety Dance
Kali enthusiastically signed the couple up for dancing lessons in between ports... Enoch at least learned the theory of it during their time, but it helped a lot that Kali didn't feel pain when her feet were stepped on! They made the acquaintance of fellow newlyweds from the Midwest, and ended up dining together. At Kali's urging their lamented student loan debt was purchased and forgiven by a mysterious benefactor not long after they hit San Diego.

X files theme
At long last the newly-wed Edwardses discovered the absolute limits of Enoch's stamina. They weren't seen outside their room for almost a full day, but to take in copious amounts of room service and send out laundry.

Santaria
Another port of call was Cartegena, Columbia, a very touristy attraction. Enoch and Kali played turista to the hilt, shopping (lots of mementos for the other Edwardses) and indulging in local fare with their new acquaintances, and going on a wildlife tour... Enoch's apparent faculty at shooing insects away from the open air touring truck led a few to jokingly refer to him as 'the bug whisperer' for the next few days, but he played it down the best he could.

Come Sail Away
Kali had conspired with Molly to purchase and bring on board some rather potent beverages from Cartegena... Each couple lost a day or so in their cabins before asking 'why is the rum gone?'

Panama
The Canal was pretty awe-inspiring even to Kali, and to Enoch with his journeyman's understanding of the engineering involved to create it given the tools of the era. There was another brief stop as they made the various transits, a little more shopping, but thankfully no local alcohol beverages.

I'm on a boat
The novelty was wearing off a little bit as they sailed for San Diego... They compensated by playing all the games and indulging in the wide variety of fare offered on board, even squeezing in a few movies here and there.

Margaritaville
One last stop over in Acapoulco gave them time to indulge any remaining turista impulse, and a fresh crop of tshirts and knicknacks for the family. They tried a night club just to see if the time in New Orleans had been a fluke, but it turned out that neither of them were really built for clubbing.

Stay classy, San Diego
Exhausted but happy they were picked up from port in the Escalade, and returned to the sanctuary provided by the mansion.

Honeymoon part deux, Paradise Boogaloo
Okay, maybe SOME rest for the wickedThe sun has set by the time they're greeted at the door by Lee and Violet, eager to hear how the cruise had gone. Kali exchanges a look with her husband, before smiling tiredly. "I'll start, you shower, then trade?" she offers.

It's nearly midnight by the time the story is through; Shawn and Heather came down separately, and the story had to be retold from the start to satisfy them both. Bourbon (or milk) and salted tree nuts made for good snacks, and only when a very tired Matt's forehead finally hits the table do the parents relent. The groom's hardly in bed before he's out like a light, the obstinately sleepless Kali snuggling in with a robe and headphones to watch TV with his arms around her.

The sun's fairly high in the sky and Animal Planet nearly insufferable by the time Matt is finally stirred by a knock on the door, the chef delivering a protein-heavy breakfast of chocolate milk, egg-white omelettes, bacon, and a granola-berry parfait before retreating.

The rest of the morning is spent unpacking and repacking what clothes were meant for the second half of the honeymoon, a growing anticipation spreading through first Matt and then Kali as their long weekend in paradise grows closer, wedding clothes left to be dry-cleaned and preserved. An obliging Oberon casts the transportation rite back to the base, a quick stop by Matt's room is made to pick up a few bags Kali refuses to open, and a grinning Orrin arranges transport to the realm of the gods.

Tailor-made Eternity

They step out onto the corrugated metal of Plague's realm, the corpselike head of the Arbiter rising above the edge of the turbulent green sea. "Congratulationssss..."

For a moment, a twinge of fear that the Arbiter might force another oozy dive and swim to shore passes through Enoch's head, but the Arbiter merely hums. "Ssssuppossse you dessserve it."

The roaring column of thunderclouds slowly begins to dissipate, and you're left standing on a column rising at least a kilometer into the air. Plague's nowhere to be seen, but the clear expanse of the city before you is on brilliant display. The platform begins to slowly move, sinking downward as it grows closer to the city. Finally, it slows to a stop beside a single track and station, the inhabitants gawking in awe at the new visitors.

A hurried (and harried) visit later, the maglev train arrives, the visitors near-reverently allowing Enoch and Kali to board first, amazed that the representative of their god has come to them. Matt's engaged with many questions, though many of them seem to be urging him to go here, go there, to see the best of what had been deemed Megacity Heron, after the ancient Egyptian. A rather confused question on ordinates, and they excitedly explain that the deed to the penthouse was not, in fact, to any of the many skyscrapers rising into the clouds, but rather to the peak of the colossal pyramid (The Capitus) in the center of the city; an oft-desired, rarely claimed place usually held by the most prestigious person in the city, and this one had never been lived in.

The maglev slows to a stop at the foot of The Capitus, the travelers waving as the couple departs. All it takes is a flash of the deed at the doorman, and five valets bustle forward, clad in gold-trimmed white uniforms as they relieve you of your luggage and show you to what they assure you is the center elevators, though it appears to be several man-sized tubes lit with blue light and opening eight feet from the floor, extending upward through the large open area and into the impossible tall ceiling, balconies looking out over what must be at least two acres of vertically arranged shopping malls, gardens, theatres... everything short of another apartment building. Still, constant reassurance does wonders, and stepping beneath the tubes, Matt and Kali are each levitated by an invisible force through the tubes, looking eye-to-eye through the clear walls as the environment shoots downward past them. It's curiously silent, only the soft whistling of air and blur of outside indicating movement; the acceleration soon stops, and they're left catapulting upward, slowing to a stop just at the end, where a floor of blue light materializes to catch them. They're greeted by another two valets, and are quickly given a guided tour of their house-sized apartment, putting even the Empyrean's impressive tech to shame. The walls are gold and marble, the floor soft carpet, and it's divided into two large sections for rest and recreation, a smaller third for personal needs. It's a technopath's dreamland as they show the convection shower, aerated bath, dreamfoam mattress, quickwash laundry, HD holographic displays, total climate control, and an instant dumbwaiter leading directly to both the chefs and winery, many beyond bleeding-edge luxuries dismissed as commonplace, including a box of chocolates explained as 'stimulants'. They further explain that while all residents at The Capitus receive complimentary airbus service, the penthouse suite received a personal vehicle, a curious gray room-sized pod declared to be the ultimate in intuitive technology, and able to navigate anywhere in the city, though they particularly recommended the Aegyptian Theatre on Ninth Avenue and the Masquerade restaurant.

It's who you share it withTime passes in a wonderful blur, the need for sleep taken away by the stimulants or Plague or the mere reality of this world. The world seems to exist in an eight-hour day-night cycle, as was apparently chosen by vote for this city. The first day is almost entirely spent exploring The Capitus, quite a bit of it apartments but much more of it worthy of further inspection. For once, it's Kali who has to pull Matt away from the storefronts; the food is good, though closer to greasily decadent fast food than the exquisite fae cooking. The true privacy afforded by the room -the level of technology does not extend to surveillance, at least not within the penthouse walls- allows for rather more exploration, as do the oh-so-mysterious bags brought along by Kali but surely packed by Fathom. Both parties realize that promises made about after we're married could finally be kept, outfits suspiciously close to those worn by ASU cheerleaders and Catholic coeds run through the quickwash beside business suits, silk gloves, and velvet capes, often while the aerated bath or convection shower were dispensing luxurious amounts of hot soapy water.

All good thingsDespite copious amounts of time spent inside the room, the surface of the city's offerings is well scratched (and Matt's appetite for the tech being developed whetted) by the time a note from Plague arrives that time will begin to pass at a normal rate with the rising of the sun. One last visit is made to the Masquerade for their trademark burgers, and bags are packed, one last look taken at their third (THIRD) luxury home before one last trip down the elevitator and out the front, through the maglev and back to the platform, where an olive portal opens back to the Empyrean and reality.

OoC: The rest of you can feel free to remark on how characters experienced the rest of the wedding, but this is pretty much the end of this thread.

Dancing with La'anah turned to be rather nice. The real La'anah doesn't make him feeling uncomfortable in an unfamiliar way, like the virtual La'anah. He thinks she enjoyed herself. Samael cuts in, and Wraith dances with a few others. Like Kodama. Even Daisy gets a dance.
Off the dance floor, Wraith talks the most with La'anah, Kodama, Samael, Gunther, John and Brendan. Epirus too, but not as much as he would have liked.
When the event winds down, Wraith is probably amongst the first to leave as soon as it's polite. He hopes that Enoch and Kali have a nice time on the honeymoon.

Sapphire eats, drinks and has a blast. She dances in a few group dances with other ladies and gals, and anything country that comes on, she shows she knows every line dance, and can probably out two-step anyone but maybe Kodama.
At the end of the evening, she goes back to the base carrying her high heels and humming a content tune.

The Empyrian had been all abuzz with news and excitement about the upcoming wedding but Michelle seemed to be at the eye of the nuptial hurricane. She didn't really know either of them, knew nothing of what led up to the marriage, and was understandably ignored when it came to the arrangements. Her previous offer was a genuine one though, she's used to a marriage being an event for an entire village, with everyone giving whatever gift they could manage or chipping in to help in whatever other way. It seems the modern tradition favors the grandiose and personal more than it used to, barring nobility of course. When Kali finally invites her to the ceremony she naturally accepts, arriving in a rather subdued dress for her, not wanting to draw any attention from the wedding party. Though given the nature of the attendees, perhaps that was never a concern.

She eagerly partakes of the offered cake and other food, she has a sweet tooth if nothing else. Though it helps to not have to suffer any of the consequences of it. She refuses to dance, with the claim that she doesn't know how and would only fall all over herself in the stupid dress anyway. It's perhaps not just a joke, as no one has ever seen her in anything resembling a dress, and it's fairly clear she wishes she didn't have to. But it's the mildest sacrifice she can make for those she will hopefully get to know better in the time to come. Several times the question of whether she and Adriel are related or connected in some way but she has to assure them that no, the similarity in names is just a coincidence. And when the bouquet is thrown it seems like she might make good on her threat to incinerate it when it seems to be coming her way, but a timely interception by Virtue spares everyone a toasted bouquet courtesty of the angel who never bluffs. In time the party winds down and she slips quietly away, if only to get out of the dress. But aside from that, there's work to be done.

Kodama spends much of the wedding with two very distinct goals in mind. The first is give Heather the long-teased experience of meeting a bonafide real honest-to-goodness Unicorn. She had made a generic request in the direction of Ferocus to furnish her with one for the wedding and had expected to see Rory, who was especially affable and patient and good-tempered. Instead it was Meribeth whom she led in from behind the hedge maze to the greet the flower girl. While Meribeth was not quite as 'kid-friendly', she made up for it in raw beauty and presence. Plus the singular unique nature of this particular event spoke to her sense of self and even she could deal with exuberant children knowing that they were largely reverent of her and that she need withstand the worst aspects of their attention but only for a few hours.

Heather -and to a much lesser extent Shawn- got the full experience, feeding Meribeth young coconuts that weren't there a second ago, riding her up and down the picturesque beach numerous times and a very very lengthy grooming session of the Unicorns flanks and luxurious mane that Meribeth 'suffered through'. Midway through, Kodama deputized one of the Fae entertainers to look after Heather and Meribeth. Shawn having moved on to other things. That way she could get back to main party.

Her second goal was dancing. Lots and lots of dancing. Not just for herself, though she drags Gunther up there more times than he'd probably like. Kodama is constantly flitting about the tables, cajoling and encouraging the other party goers to go up and enjoy themselves. She throws out lots of assurances that it doesn't matter how well they dance or any of that, it's just important that they have a good time and make Kali and Enoch's wedding as festive as it can be. It matters nothing about her particular grievances with any of the party goers. Her sour history with Brendan doesn't stop her from all but pushing the man on to the floor. Most everyone takes part for a little bit at her nudging, with John and Brendan especially making quick escapes. The only two who refuse to budge at all are Rham (whose smoky form makes things awkward) and surprisingly Michelle who meets repeated attempts with flat, if polite, refusal.

Outside of Gunther who gets the lions share of her attention, Kodama shares a few dances with Wraith (so adorable) and a couple of the celebratory songs alongside Sapphire and Fathom. Normally, she'd have tried to rope Kali in as well, but separating her from Enoch was almost impossible after they'd shared their vows.

Kodama is one of the last people to leave with Gunther, Cord and Sapphire. Fathom had slipped away with Oberon at some point and she'd lost track of Orrin after Enoch and Kali left with Marcel. She was thankful that her duties ended at seeing people safely through portals to their respective homes. Cleaning up the party upstairs was easier than snapping her fingers. Exhausted but exuberant, she shares a final drink with the others before Gunther carried her through a portal to the base and to his room.
