[Game Thread] Chapter 6d: A Blight Upon the Earth

[Blue]

She didn't agree with Misa. There was more they could do to help here that just bringing her back somewhere safe. There was strife all over the place and there were better things to do than play escort.

The telepathic message made her cringe. She spread her wings, looked upwards and then sighed.
"And just how are we supposed to get all the way there... I can try to fly us out of the Tsuun's great ward so that we can teleport there but even if I fly as fast as I can it'll take a pretty long while."

[Battlechaser]

"I suppose this city has a sewer system?" Léon looked at his companions. "No need to risk a running in with the fliers." And again he started to pace back and forth. "Or we could alternate the short distance porting. It might be enough to get us out from under the ward. "

[Blue]

At the mere mention of the word 'sewer', Mrith shivered.
Oh Crone please no!

Whatever alternative already sounded much better.

[Makenshi]

The prostitute looks on in confusion at their strange turn in conversation for a moment before she makes the connection to some sort of message and takes a seat at one of the pews while glancing around.

Meanwhile, Zilira sends them another message. "Sit tight. We're arranging for someone to take you. One of Shadow's friends hopefully, since if they're Demi-Gods like she is then they'll be able to punch through the Shroud. Just try not to get into any trouble in the meantime."

"So what do we do while we wait?" Misa asks while still turning her head to 'look' around, and prompting a curious look from Miss Levayan, who takes that as a cue to speak again.

"And might I ask what it is that we're waiting for exactly?"

Mrith growled softly. Looking around expectingly.
She wondered who would come get them. They had barely gotten there, too. Knowing they were waiting to be sent somewhere to fight kept her edgy.
"For transportation."

[Battlechaser]

"So sit tight." Léon said. He did not like this. They were sitting ducks here. "We go upstairs. It's easier to defend."

[Blue]

Mrith spared a glance at the ceiling, considering the suggestion.
With a roll of the shoulders, she leaned forward and made her way to the stair.
"I think it would be, yes."
It was fairly possible to turn it into a disadvantage but it was the odds seemed good.

Once upstairs, she would rely on Misa to perhaps feel any intrusion but would keep her ears open.

Leon's suspicions proved correct as upstairs was made up of a few living quarters and storage rooms, which would be much easier to defend and barricade - all the windows he could find were already boarded up like those below. Just as they were finishing their inspection of the upper floor Zilira's voice drifted through their mind's again. "Shadow said that 'a name that Mrith and Leon may remember from their conversation with MaskAirin' will come for you in a few moments. A blond man with many intricate scars upon his skin and likely looking as if he has had the beating of a lifetime, apparently. You'll also want to prepare yourselves now - as you'll likely be hunting down a group of clerics that are healing a group of dragons that are stalling Mirik Orn from joining the fight against Invidia."

Although Misa doesn't have any forms of magic that she can activate, she does spend the time waiting for this 'Airin' in meditation, while Miss Levayin appears restless in her waiting.

In the end they do not end up waiting long at all before a voice drifts across their minds in a manner not unlike with Zilira. "My name is Airin, Shadow sent me to take you to Feid. I suggest we hurry. Gula has left the battlefield for now, but I suspect he will re-join it in Feid soon enough to help Invidia. I'm at the altar."

After a touch of paranoia - in the form of Misa opening he door a crack so that she could sense out into the temple's ground floor to check there was only one person there - they assembled downstairs and were greeted with the sight of a man with short blond hair who did indeed look like he had had the beating of a life-time, nursing a number of bruises and cuts while also moving with a pronounced limp and cradling one arm against his body. At first it was difficult to see the scars they were told of due to the blood and bruises, but on his face - only the right side of which was swollen and bruised with a gash just above the eye - they could see the thin, intricate marks arranged across his face in asymmetrical patterns, from his cheek to his forehead to around at least his blood-shot left eye (it was difficult to tell with the right due to his injuries).

The man - Airin - spared a curious glance towards the prostitute for a moment before speaking again, this time using his own voice. "Ready?" Once they agree he calls for them to approach so that he can teleport them all. "I will warn you that breaking through the Shroud is not an entirely pleasant experience." Once they are all gathered there is no fanfare before they feel the familiar tugging of teleportation but true to his word, the similarities end there as it feels like they are slammed into a great solid wall and then squeezed through a small gap before finding themselves on the roof of an inn overlooking the red roofs of Feid, minus the prostitute who had presumably been sent elsewhere for her safety.

Ashtarte's hanging tits. That hurt. Léon sucked on his lower lip and tried to steady himself. Out of instinct the spy crouched down and drew the shadows around him as a protective blanket. "Now what?" He whispered as his eyes and ears scanned his surroundings. His pulse started to quicken - as was to be expected on a mission - so Léon breathed deeply to slow it down.
