Smeowlin, I believe the RAW indicate that the CR is based on the racial HD the creature has when the template is applied, and this does not increase (not does the creature gain the additional special abilities based on HD higher than it has when the template is applied) if the creature gains additional HD, either via RHD or class levels.

E.g. Fiendish template indicates the following:
Hit Dice Cold, Fire Resistance Damage Reduction CR
1-3 5 - +0
4-7 10 5/+1 +1

If applied to a 2HD creature, the creature gains C/F Resistance 5 and no DR. When the creature increases to HD 3, nothing changes. When the creature increases to HD 4, again, nothing changes and the CR does not increase. If the

I've done both at the same time. We had Muleficent the third (I think) when the game ended.

mount spell also works for casters.

btccg: no only some templates are based on Racial HD. others are based on total HD. for example Halfdragon Breath weapon specifies racial HD, whereas half-ceslestial specifies Creature HD for its abilities (a creatures HD is its total from race and classes.)

As spell warped just says 'HD' it is based on the total HD not racial.

Agreed - my bad, did not notice that on the Spell Warped template.

Oh I totally forgot about traits, thanks! I went with Absent-Minded and Distant because I think it fits her personality and works mechanically of course. I like the idea of Quick and would consider taking it if I went with a different route to Swiftblade, but I'm already trying to melee with a d4 Hit Die

For her homeland I was considering Bador en-Cânë for the obvious elf reasons, but I wasn't sure which place would make the most sense for a crazed wizard to keep their tower.

@smeowlin: Could have found Caelynn's corner of the Poison Woods when you escaped if you started there. Not that it's necessary for us to know each other from the beginning or anything. But it would be nice to have company (and someone who Caelynn wasn't awkward around) while delivering the medicine/poison.

@Dieuoffire: I included the shipment of medicine/poison on my sheet. Didn't know how much it would weigh, but it's there.

Since you are using CR for monster PCs, which screws up anthropomorphic animals (keeps same CR as base creature, but loses HD and size), can I use the PF Manimal template instead to achieve the same effect?
