Nothing's stopping a character from using a higher level item though, if they did happen to come across one, though I doubt most GMs would hand out too many overlevelled items.

I should specify I've run this once before with slight tweaks. Also, the time I ran it before was my first time even playing. Most of my experience comes from character creation with a little bit of play. So I still have stuff to learn, too.

I have so much more information that you'll learn later about the world.

It's fun stuff, like the government and actual leadership of Bellmoor.

Perhaps if it is too much work for you, I can change to any other stuff. I don't know if we have the chance to earn an income anyway! :P By the way, I was reading about the familiar and hypothetically, from what I read in the familiar abilities descriptions, it offer an ability to make the familiar able to use the manipulate option, it is called "manual dexterity" (if the manipulate action let's you treat wounds, administer first aid, pick a lock or even craft then you could use an item easily). So perhaps, I think a familiar with limbs (like hands and that is the catch of the limitation to make it balanced) like a monkey, could use items. Of course you have to take in a account that you would need to use an action so the familiar can act (it gets two actions) and you will always have one of the two abilities of the familiar occupied. You could solve the familiar ability problem with the familiar master archetype but you would be deprived of getting some alchemist feat to improve your familiar instead. |

Yes. We are all on pins and needles hoping to be a part of the game for sure!

I'm crossing my fingers to get to try Gylli out in the game - I'm still having trouble getting my head around Pathfinder, and there's no better way to make sense of a half-understood system than to try it out in practice. |

Yeah, I completely forgot about Manual Dexterity. ^//^ A familiar who has it CAN administer elixirs.

The keyword also interacts with other rules. A Fighter's Attack of Opportunity can be used against an opponent who uses a Manipulate action within their reach, and that Manipulate action can be disrupted if the AoO hits (spells for the record, do not inherently have the Manipulate trait, but any spell that requires Somatic, Material, or Focus components gains the Manipulate trait). It's also worth noting that you can change your familiar's abilities each day, so you aren't locked in, unless that ability is one the animal naturally possesses (in which case you're required to spend one of your ability choices on it). I was thinking about a raccoon familiar - they're clever and they've got pretty dexterous little paws so the manual dexterity option would make sense. Plus I like the idea of a really weird raccoon that's had a few too many elixirs and mutagens tested on it, and looks and acts a little bit dodgy as a result - but Gylli still treats it like it's a snuggly teddy bear, whether it likes it or not. |
