Well as we have nearly everyone, I am going to wait out the week for any final applications (ending Friday). I have asked for 6-8, but I know there is interest potentially beyond that and most of these old modules could handle around 6-10 characters.

Hi! I've played AD&D, but I don't think I've ever played D&D Basic or Expert. I saw you mention BECMI/Rules Cyclopedia. Are there any legal System Reference Documents for those that I could look into?

I know that in old D&D Elf, Dwarf, and Halfling were classes; and I know the main other classes were Fighter, Magic User, Thief, and Cleric. Are there any others I should be aware of?

I'm interested, if that wasn't clear!

Do you mind if I redo my character to a magic user? That way we'd only need a Dwarf to get every class in.

Looking at people's stats, I wonder if they know the rules for lowering stats to increase their prime requisites.

For example, Drachenspirit and DebiRedHair can both lower their STR by 2 thus increasing DEX and WIS to 18, respectively.

@Shula - If you want to change, and I have seen your sheet, please do. I will update your character in the roster.
@Inlaa - No documents that I am aware of but there maybe some for an OSR clone that might be available. There are no other classes you have to worry about for this campaign. Technically druid and monk are options under certain GM prerequisites and some classes became options in the Gazeteer series but we are not using anything other than what you have listed. I am also very happy to help.

Well, in that case I'll roll some stats and decide what to play. I'm familiar with very familiar with 3.0/3.5, somewhat familiar with AD&D, and a little familiar with 4th/5E. So, hopefully I'll be able to grasp D&D Basic/Expert with a little help.

I'll roll out character stats and then figure out what I'd like to play based on those. Here goes...

Dice Rolls

4d6kh3 5, 3, 4, 2 (keeping 3,4,5) Total = 12

Dice Roll:
4d6kh3 5, 1, 6, 5 (keeping 5,5,6) Total = 16

Dice Roll:
4d6kh3 5, 2, 6, 4 (keeping 4,5,6) Total = 15

Dice Roll:
4d6kh3 2, 5, 6, 1 (keeping 2,5,6) Total = 13

Dice Roll:
4d6kh3 6, 6, 2, 2 (keeping 2,6,6) Total = 14

Dice Roll:
4d6kh3 6, 5, 6, 5 (keeping 5,6,6) Total = 17



I'll edit this post afterward once I 've found out what I got!

EDIT: OK, wow. 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12. That's about as good as it gets!

I'll... dang, I'm not sure what I want to make. I know in AD&D only humans can reach very high levels. Is that the same in Basic/Expert? Also, as I understand, Dwarves are similar to Fighters, Halflings are basically Fighter/Thieves, and Elves are sort of Fighter/Magic Users?

Demihumans are capped but at certain xp points they will unlock extra combat abilities. Plus all the specific demihuman abilities you see listed on the character sheet.

As Shula pointed out earlier, in Basic once you know your class and therefore prime requisite attribute, you could exchange 2 points from another attribute to increase your prime requisite by 1. So that 17 could become an 18.

I suppose I could give Dwarf a shot! I'll admit, the level cap on demihumans gives me pause, but I also know it's not a realistic concern, as we won't be hitting level cap any time soon.

Let me give the other characters a look-see so I can tell if we have any stats that are particularly low in the party. Obviously STR/DEX/CON should be high on my dwarf, but I wouldn't be averse to taking a decent Charisma if that's low in the party, for instance.

Anyway, gonna take a peek. BRB!

Firstly, I want to apologize for rolling in the advertisement thread. I didn't realize that was against site policy. That's my mistake, and I'll remember that for future reference!

Alright. So, I rolled my gold IRL; 120 starting gold. For HP I got a 4 on a d8, and I assume I add my CON mod for +2. So far, so good!

It looks like we have a fairly well rounded party (that halfling with 17 charisma might do all the talking for us), so I've decided to focus on being as good a fighty dwarf as possible. I assume there's nothing wrong with assigning my 15 to Strength instead of my 17, thus allowing me to shift points from INT and CHA over to STR? That'd allow me to have a +3 in STR, a +2 in DEX, and a +2 in CON.
