House Rule: Shopping

Since you've started earning enough money to buy some interesting items, here's what I'm ruling about shopping:

• You can buy any mundane item costing up to 20gp without notice; just tell me.
• Mundane items over 20gp might or might not be available straight away. Let me know what you want to buy, and I'll tell you.
• Magical items will be available but probably not off-the-shelf. I'll tell you how long it'll take.

Basically, the more esoteric the item is, the longer it'll take. Bulk buying might be tricky too: not everyone carries 100 potions of Cure Light Wounds!

That's 750gp, and a magic item. Given it's a fairly common one, I'll say it follows this scale:

• 1-80: Available immediately
• 81-95: 1 day's searching
• 96-100: Special commission; takes the craft time.

So, without further ado, availability of a wand of CLW:

Also, for semi-common items such as a +1 weapon or armour:

• 1-50: Available immediately
• 51-85: One day's searching
• 86-100: on commission only.

For unusual items such as +2 or higher enchantment, or unusual special properties:

• 1-20: Available immediately
• 21-65: One day's searching
• 66-100: on commission only.

For extremely rare or unique items:

• 1-25: One day's searching
• 26-50: on commission only
• 51-100: No dice, and you'll have to follow a plot point to get it.
