The Disparity Between BG3 And Actual D&D

So recently I've realized there's a serious difference between what I learned through Baldur's Gate 3 and real D&D. BG3 makes up the majority of my experience with the system, so when I learn things like "Mage Hand cannot, in fact, pick up grown adults" or "Sanctuary includes saves" it comes as something of a surprise. I'm wondering what I should do, because these little misunderstandings keep propping up. What I think I understand is not, in fact, true in actual D&D, and that concerns me.

Next somebody will tell me I can't even have three zombies at once or something. Or summon multiple different kinds of minions at once.

The BG3 wiki has a page that details the differences between standard 5th edition rules and Larian's house rules.

Great link. I think BG3 was really optimized for it's specific play style, and I think they did an incredible job. Some other games stick really closely to the DND ruleset at the time of their release, and they definitely feel a little clunkier than BG3. Just my opinion, though,.
