Kennoch the Explorator Character Name: Kennoch Career Path: EXPLORATOR Origins: VOID-BORN > SCAPEGRACE > Wanted FugitiveCRIMINAL > HAND OF WAR > FORTUNE Description: Kennoch is surprisingly chunky for a space-birthed follower of the Omnissiah. Considering his many melees and fire fights, and how closely he has tread towards open heresy in his pursuit of knowledge, perhaps that isn’t terribly surprising. He has permanently banished his body hair by chemical and surgical means, yet he has kept a cosmetically human (appearing) mouth and throat so as to put the barbarians and other crude folk he interacts with at ease, or at least that was his goal. He is unconcerned with the disapproval of Mechanicus peers to this attachment to human appearances, which is perhaps foolish of him. His efforts to look more human are definitely foolish; he has the pallid skin, bone structure, and odd gait on planets that cries out ‘void-born.’ When you combine that with his hairless features and machine parts he puts no one at ease. His attempts at humor, which he practices in private, are painful to listen to, though he occasionally gets laughs generated by his awful delivery or failure to grasp a joke’s proper context. While he actively loathes daemons and Chaos worshippers, his pragmatic attitude towards more rational heretics and xenos would not please any Imperial officials who became aware of Kennoch’s lapses. Backstory: Born on a navy ship before becoming a minor tech-adept on a deep space station, Kennoch survived multiple conflicts with pirates, xenos, and the like in his youth. As part of keeping equipment running it was necessary for him to make contacts in the grey market of supply officers and bureaucrats as well as the black market of organized crime. Though not a particularly good negotiator his ethical flexibility resulted in him finding himself ‘assigned’ to assist an explorator. This was the young man’s first experience with followers of the Omnissiah playing fast and loose with laws and doctrine in the quest for knowledge. His mentor was caught by the Inquisition, but this proved to be an opportunity for the young man who was luckily able to plead genuine ignorance of his superior’s crimes. Kennoch was informally pardoned, removed from Adeptus Arbites custody, and joined the entourage of an inquisitor hunting down dangerous Chaos worshippers. The tech-priest was lucky enough to survive several battles, which was more than many of the team could say. The access to forbidden aerotech knowledge inspired the young man to remain an explorator after his benefactor’s tragic death. Kennoch is trying to get himself attached to Lord Iddideron’s entourage as his best opportunity to learn the secrets of the Cambrian sector.

Question: If i start with a skill, in this case Pilot (Spacecraft) can i spend the 100xp to take it a second time during character creation and ifi do what would that do for me?

Rylus, I don't think buying it again does anything. In order to get a better skill, you need to buy the versions that say +10, +20 ext.

Heya, I just stumbled on this game. I realise the deadline was about a month ago, but if you still have room, my wife and I would actually love to take part in a Rogue Trader game. We're both fairly well-versed in the 40k universe and RPing in there. Most of my experience is Dark Heresy, admittedly, but I did make a character for a Rogue Trader campaign that never took off some time back.

If you've already started and would prefer to stick with the players you have that's of course fine too, but I figured asking couldn't hurt

Character Name: Yasha Faye "White"

Career Path: Astropath Transsubstantial (Into the Storm)

Origins:

Description: Faye is a relatively short woman, with short white hair and pale skin. The top half of her face is covered in an old, porcelain mask, but not hiding her burnt-out eyes from the world. She mostly wears the robes of her station, with a ribbon wrapped and tied around her left arm.

Backstory:

 

It had hunted her family for as long as they could remember. It hunts her, It hunts her mother, It hunted her grandmother, her great-grandmother, and so on. Not that they knew what It was. How could they, if only those It caught would see it? But they knew it was coming. Relentlessly. They all felt it, on the fringe of their minds. And whenever it came close? The only thing to do was to run.
And run they did. Never staying in any one place for too long, always on the fringes of the Imperium. Despite this, it wasn't It, but rather mortal men that separated Yasha from her family.
She had been sick, when she felt them too. Still, Yasha dragged herself out of her bed, and to her parents. Let them know it was time to go. Her mother was confused, then sad, but ultimately accepting. They couldn't afford to be slowed down by a child barely able to breathe. Her mother gave her a porcelain mask. "It won't fit now, but it will when you need it."

Faye. That was the name they gave her. Apparently her old name was too primitive. Unfitting of a servant. She had to grow her hair long, tied with a ribbon - it was more pleasing that way. Most of her work was cleaning, with other children. Her new 'siblings', according to the matronly woman.
The master's guests were weird. Some of the older children told stories. Told them that some of the guests weren't human. When the matron heard, they were punished.
She couldn't stay. Not for long. It was coming again.

Fate intervened.
To this day, the details are a blur, but something happened, and the next thing she knew, she was locked up somewhere. And then, forced into a ship. Trained, tested, and finally... brought before the Throne.
It was the last, and first thing she saw.

She was sent off to work, wearing her mother's mask - a perfect fit, now. Some called her "White", though if it was due to the mask, or her now-short hair, she didn't know. It didn't matter. What mattered was that she was here, alive, enduring, and as free as one with her gifts could be.

Hi im interested in this game.

How is it progressing?

Is the post rate still 3 / week?? (I have an adult life coming complete with consequences, is it ok if i post less than 3 times?)

As far as characters go: At one point i played in a RT game that lasted 2 whole years. Ive also run OW 2 times as a GM.

I could play an Arch Militant (probably an ex tempestus scion). I could manage and equip the rogue trader's personal regiment. Including recruitment and gear selection using the Acquisitions table. We would start out small and gradually build up and this means the GM could start pitting actual armies against us. If we lost engagements we would lose squads and need to recruit more!

Ive seen this kind of thing before and it really works best if we all share the rogue traders' personal guard, rather than split it up between us. That way we need to negotiate in character, use profit factor to carve it into shape, and no one person becomes too powerful or influential.
