So is this gestalt or regular?

Also is there somewhere we can roll first? I hate making a character only to roll later and find out it is unworkable due to bad rolls. Or can we maybe just do point buy?

I think the consensus thus far is that folks would rather start at lvl 10 rather than lvl 3 gestalt. You can pm a set of rolls or you can use the link in the PM I sent you. There's a dice rolling thread there. generally speaking if you roll a set of sub par stats you can always ask for a reroll.

I usually gravitate towards gestalt when given the option, but level 10 is pretty nice too. I'll probably go drop some rolls in the thread and see what I can cook up.

Posting interest with a question. Would you consider a ratfolk character, using the description found here? Ratfolk are from Pathfinder, but it’s pretty similar to 3.5 and I can follow 3.5 rules throughout otherwise (I have a decent 3.5 library). The race fits well in a city environment, doesn’t need LA, and I’m planning on an urban ranger.

I'll admit it - I have a soft spot for roleplay heavy, intrigue type campaigns. I'll take a look around the game forum and see what happens.

I'm with you in much preferring 3.5e over 5e. I appreciate you starting a game with the system at a decent level.

I really like the sounds of this game. I'll have to dust off the 3.5 books and see what I come up with.

ya know, I think this can be worked in quite well. PM me, this has my creative juices flowing and I might be able to work some goodness into your character.

Olive the game has already been opened and folks are starting the process of char creation. If you want you can have in. Its not like I don't already know the quality of your posts

Nightshade come up with a char concept and let me know what it is. I will approve or work with you via PM to make changes. I am very open to letting players play what they want!

Ratfolk could use the were rat template, as well. Be a natural born one and he can change his shape at will. Just throwing that out there.

going that route would incur a pretty significant LA.

Jermlaine from MMII are +0 LA tiny rat-fey. But while they get great DEX & WIS, the rest of their stats make them pretty hard to play.

yeah I can see both sides of it. In all honesty I prefer Ith's approach. True he doesn't get all the kewl 'were whatever' abilities but he also doesn't get the +3 LA, taking a 3 lvl hit is HUGE.

taking a 1 lvl hit is big enough.... and worth it for item or cohort generation but 3 lvls….
