The basics of readying a weapon for a bard kind of go like this
1) Instrument in both hands (as most bard instruments require two hands to use) 2) Instrument in one hand - free action draw one-handed weapon 3) attack with one handed weapon 4) free action sheath one-handed weapon go back to using the instrument You only need to drop a weapon/instrument if what you are going to also requires the use of both hands -- otherwise you can usually keep the whatever in your offhand -- assuming that your offhand is not holding a shield but then if it were using a shield you could not use a 2-handed weapon/instrument

Just curious you do know that Vicious Mockery is not supposed to work on things without Intelligence and that includes things with only Animal level intelligence like bugs -- perhaps you might want to try something else or reserve the Mockery for a more likely target *shrug* just a thought and/or suggestions -- then again who knows we are in Hades after all maybe those bugs can understand you

The spell description says the target does not need to understand.
Vicious Mockery Enchantment cantrip Casting Time: 1 action Range: 60 feet Components: V Duration: Instantaneous You unleash a string of insults laced with subtle enchantments at a creature you can see within range. If the target can hear you (though it need not understand you), it must succeed on a wisdom saving throw or take 1d4 psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn. This spell's damage increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4), and 17th level (4d4).

Enchantment spells affect the minds of others, influencing or controlling their behavior. Such spells can make enemies see the caster as a friend, force creatures to take a course of action, or even control another creature like a puppet.
Now I am not sure where in the guidelines it is stated but -- spells that affect the minds of others tend not to affect creatures that are considered mindless or nearly mindless -- like in the case of bugs -- although there are caveats such as Animal Friendship and the like. So perhaps (like Animal Friendship) this ability is not truly a Mind-Affecting magic but one of those that slips through the cracks -- now upon reading the description of that ability I think I would be inclined to let it work on anything but the utmost mindless of things like constructs or anything of that nature that truly does not have any aspect of a mind but then my inclinations are not what truly matters here -- hopefully the GM will chime in and give us their final interpretation of this ability. In short -- you convinced me hopefully the GM feels the same way ![]()

Yeah I saw but I also did 10 points of damage -- so the dead centipede is even more dead I mean is doing an additional 1d10 to the centipede needed? Or can that be applied to a second centipede with a sort of burn through kind of result ??

Okay I added the extra d10 (into my post) and with it I get average damage for 2d10 being 11 due to my awesome critical damage of 1
