I'm a carb addict. That's a thing. If I keep my carbs very low I do pretty good. Get over a certain tipping point and I go into binge mode. No amount of food calms the cravings after that. I have literally eaten myself sick and still felt famished. I've just had to learn to ride it out. I find it's actually easier to fast a few days at a time than fight the cravings. By day two of fasting it's actually rather peaceful.
I also have a wheat allergy. My feet get a serious case of edema (excess fluid retention) and one or more bundles of connective tissue will swell rather painfully. The wrist joint or the bursa of the heel; the tendon where the bicep connects to the inside of the elbow joint; those tendons that run across the top of your foot... Just, ouch. Before I figured out what was going on it was crippling. Now, I just really miss bread. And doughnuts. My favorite doughnuts were chocolate old-fashioned cake doughnuts with chocolate frosting. Back in the day, when Winchell's was still a thing, my friends and I would game all weekend and hit the doughnut place around 4am, just in time for the first nuts o' dough to be coming out of the fry vats. I'd wait until I could get mine so that the cake was still crunchy and the frosting still melty. Sorry. *sob* I think I need a moment. Don't know if that qualifies as a weird food thing, but that's what a got.

That's good enough for me, lol.
I tried a keto diet for like two weeks and by the end I had almost gotten over the constant feeling like a was starving. Didn't matter how much I ate I felt like I was going to die. I mean, overall I felt pretty good. I lost some weight and I think my body kind of liked not relying so much on sugar and carbs to survive. But that healthy upward trend didn't satisfy the gnawing emptiness of my sugar addicted core. No sir, not one bit.

That's the problem with most diets: they require you to feel hungry. That's just not a long term solution for most people, IMO.
I just watched a video by this YouTuber called WheezyWaiter where he tried intermittent fasting for a month. He said that once he got used to it, he kinda liked the slightly hungry feeling. He was only doing a 16 hour fast every day, but it did force him to look at what he's eating and stop late night snacking. He says he's going to keep it up. Honestly, for me that binge feeling is so uncomfortable that normal hunger just ain't no thang. It's easier to eat nothing for 60 hours than try and eat just a little and fight it. 'Course, I'm a bit of a weirdo. In a number of ways. We'll just leave that right there and, uh, not address it further.
