The sudden crash of ice and rock snapped him out of his zoned state, the quietness before impending battle being obliterated by rocks and ice rolling into the hallway. "Guess our scaly friend got their attention.", he said to no-one in particular. With surprising speed, he advanced into the narrow hallway, bracing himself against the rock where it came to a natural chokepoint. He glanced around the corner, noting they were out of range for most attacks from his compatriots.

At least, they were at the moment.

With practiced motion, he weave a spell, targeting their two simple minded foes. "Come to me!", he commanded, his voice radiated with the force of his diety's power. As the spell surrounded the minds of their quarry, he called back, "Advance quickly, and let's make light work of these fools."

OOC17 on my DC 17 spell for the frost. Hill failed hard

[COLOR="SeaGreen"]The team spoke of wolves and it made Nokomis think of the hellhounds of legend. Perhaps one of them could be hut broken and domesticated for the feats they talked about their, as of yet fictional, new pet to perform.

The distraction was quite enjoyable. The hellhound would most likely be too wild to domesticate, but she took some enjoyment in envisioning Begon attempting the feat only to find the beast could put out as much hurt as Begon could. A learning experience for all, as it were.

Eventually, chat turned back to the mission at hand. When it came to clearing out the rest of the tunnels, Nokomis was very supportive. Too much blood had been spilled now to stop removing the threat to the local flora and fauna. Rather it was time to end things. The day was growing later as well, she need not hold back as much in anticipation of further need, but rather would prefer to unleash what she had now, in case tomorrow was worse.

Chutakki returned and warned them of dangers ahead. And some sort of horn, which just made her (irrationally) want to blow it to see what would happen of course. So the plan was hatched, Chutakki would distract them and get them to launch their missiles, then the team would advance and wipe out the guards. A simple plan, one that could be very dangerous and even lethal, but a simple plan.

Begon mentioned, "Not let them blow horn!"

"Truly I say unto you, Begon. I would sooner allow a hellhound to lick my toes than allow them to sound the alarm." She patted his shoulder in camaraderie before stepping up. She started to prepare a spell in her mind, one that would send a razor-sharp segment of ice into the heart of her enemy.

Ozgur added his voice to the choir. "They're not going to blow that horn," he promised Begon. But there wasn't really any need to talk. The bard pulled up a handful of rocks and ice chunks with his magic and sent them whipping toward the giant servant. 4 hits for 21 damageMost found their targer, but a few caromed harmlessly off the giant's thick pelts.

Begon had followed orders and waited until the pair of giants had thrown their rock missiles. Now with the explosion of shards settled, the barbarian sprang from his cover and began sprinting forward.

He had thought of throwing one of his javelins but he resisted the urge knowing that in the end he would regret giving up ground for a pittance of injury.

Instead the orc continued his reckless run, passing Ozgur and then Ulster. Still, Begon tried to be strategic. As he ran, he angled towards the jutting out rocky outcropping to the southwest which would give him some cover against any more thrown boulders.
OocDouble move.

Chutakki’s trick worked. He pulled the trigger and they flung their rocks, leaving the giant lackies standing empty handed at the far end of this cavern …

… and an angry half-orc came barrelling through, his halberd held before him.

Ozgur and Ulster followed at an easier pace. Both summoned power wrapped in weave and sent it at the servant standing shaggy-haired at the end of the cave. Ozgur’s gravel did its brutal stuff, thudding into flesh and tearing skin. Then Ulster’s commanding voice was carried by the weave to his flabby hill buddy ”Come to me!” he said … and steadily the hill giant advanced, paying no mind to Begon and his keen halberd.

Behind them, Nokomis had stepped into the entrance to the cavern, reassuring Begon that she would not let the horn be blow. Gathering the elemental forces of the glacier in her hand she threw a shard of ice that flew at the frost giant servant.

But there was more of them – another of the servile class stepped into view. It too had an ice boulder in hand, which he hurled dead-eye at Begon, crashing into his skull where it shattered in an icy cloud.

@kaylee – you can get the ice knife away. Please roll to hit and damage if necessary.

She slipped past the barbarian and used a knife-hand point to throw an icy knife at the would-be brass player. The knife flew true, but glanced off the ogre's armor before exploding just behind him expelling razor-sharp teeth of ice into his backside.

Just as she finished her first strike she spun and unleashed the next, and last, of her low-strength magics on the enemy. She was withholding her more powerful spells in case they were needed when the others were expended and tired.

Unlike her first strike the second sunk deep into his chest, exploding for more damage. However this left her in front and exposed to incoming fire; a position she was not well armored for.

Ice Knife from this round total of 13 (hit for 7, 6 more from explosion)

Begon had made a poor decision, he knew that now. In running forward, and in letting the bewitched hill giant plunder past, the orc had isolated himself against two frost giants. Even though they were the smaller stock, the ice boulder that smashed Begon dead in his face told him they were just as dangerous.

Blood exploded across Begon's face and he screamed out in fury. All thoughts of disadvantage left him and he sprang towards the pair of giants and began to tear them apart with his halberd.

Shielded from view by the hill giant's mass, Begon's companions could only hear the screams of terror of the frost giants as they futilely tried to fend off the enraged barbarian. Limbs flew free through the air and the ground became a steaming morass of bloody snow.

One giant fell… the other knew it was next.

OocReckless attack, great weapon master with a crit! 90 damage total. He will kill #3 outright, any extra damage to the other giant please. Attacks against Begon next round have advantage.

Of course there were more of them. At least one more, Ozgur saw, another of the servants. The bard backpedaled, unwilling to be trampled by the hill giant lumbering toward Ulster. "Finish off the injured one," Oz called out to his friends. [say]I've got something for the newcomer.

It was Failed saveeasy to invade the giant's mind. Brawny, they were, but lacking willpower. Ozgur formed thoughts and pushed them into the giant's awareness. So small they are, pathetic and soft. The magic brushed against the part of the brain that felt humor, making the giant chuckle. Then the magic grew hard, insistent, pressing at that humorous spot with crippling pressure. And yet they kill and kill and kill - the caverns are awash in frost giant blood! The cruel force of the spell sent the thrall first to his knees, then sent him prostrate on the floor, cackling uncontrollably. Oz looked on in grim satisfaction, waiting for his friends to spill the blood of the rest.

It was shocking how quickly they had dispatched the threats that had arisen. He remembered, long ago, when the sight of giants would cause sweat to soak his brow. Now, a few seconds and their threat was incredibly brief. Begon the barbarian had turned one into an explosion of gore, what was left of the the frost giant showering itself against the frozen walls. The other frost giant was on the ground convulsing in what looked like unnatural laughter hinted at Berith's handiwork, prone to Begon helping them to join their former comrade in arms. And the Hill Giant, lumbering mindlessly towards him, compelled by the power of his diety.

It gave him a smile of satisfaction.

With a quick flick of the wrist, he sent healing energy to Begon, their spear tip of their attack, healing him slightly. He then turned to the Hill Giant with a slight smirk, his warhammer beginning to spin. "You may experience some pain...", he said quietly, the warhammer slamming into the Giants body with ample force. The sound of cracking bone and the blinding flash of divine energy came together like a thunderstorm right overhead, catching the Giant off guard. "Don't worry.", Ulster continued coldly, "the pain won't last long..."

OOC+14HP healing to Begon. +4 HP to myself. 15 damage to the Hill Giant.

No one said that fighting giants was routine, but the slayers made it feel that way. Another days at the docks, with just three standing before them.

First the hill, bespelled by Ulster’s command, it strode dumbly towards the dwarf. And towards the horn too. Nokomis was taking no chances. She would stop anything coming forth from that instrument by harnessing the cold from of this place. A pair of icy knives flew and exploded in the body of that dumb brute.

Which gave Ulster the space to act. He weighed his hammer, saying ” You may experience some pain” before swinging it into the oaf’s knee cap. ”Don’t worry the pain won’t last long,” he quipped.

But suddenly the dwarf looked small beside a creature four times his size. Fully awakened, it swung its bag filled with who knows what as a makeshift club at Ulster, almost sweeping him off his feet with it’s ferocity. This giant was giving as good as it got.

Begon’s charge was reckless in a way only the half-orc could manage. He roared and making himself big in front of the frost giant’s servant, slashing his way with his halberd. It was brutal, the blade carving the behemoth again and again, first dropping him to his knees, then spearing its trachea. It collapsed, dead.

So far, so good, but there was another standing just behind the corpse. Begon was panting with exertion and his body bore the cuts and tears of his endeavour. Ozgur saw his comrade’s peril. He took the opportunity provided by the hill giant’s stupor to slip past it and get close enough to mess with this newcomers mind. He was practiced in this trick, rendering the most fierce of these beasts useless. so small they are pathetic … and yet they kill and kill and the thought invaded the giant's mind. It tickled him, it amused him, and before he could react, the giant found itself on its knees in front of Begon guffawing.

That laughing giant may have been an tempting target, useless at the feet of the slayers most brutal killer, but something else stepped into sight. A giant, frost. Not one of their servants, but the coward they had seen running from the cavern, the one they had chased into this interior space. He took a bead at Begon and let fly a nasty lump of rock and ice that took the half-orc fully in the face.

Ozgur kept his power focused on the giant servant in a way that bordered on sadistic. Blood seeped from the thrall's ears as he laughed maniacally, and his ensorcelled body spasmed on the ground. The bard's cruel mental voice echoed in his mind. We kill, and we kill, and we kill..., rendering the pathetic giant incapable of doing anything but laughing hysterically.

So wrapped up was Oz by his bloodlust that he failed to see the badly wounded frost giant re-enter the fray. Instead, he angrily threw a powerful hail of bullets made of pure force at the hill giant lumbering toward Ulster, 5 hits for 29 force damagepeppering it badly but not doing nearly enough damage to bring it down. He raised his voice to be heard above the din. "Begon, kill the big one!"

"Begon, kill the big one!" Ozgur called out but the words were muffled due to the blood that was now flowing freely into his ears from the massive wounds across Begon's face, courtesy of yet another hurled boulder.

It hurt… alot.

The orc was able to ignore the debilitating pain, the surely broken nose. But he knew he was in dire straits. The giant in front of him would be a handful… even more so with his companion free to freely snipe at Begon. Seeing that his companions were all turning their attention to the hill giant, Begon sighed loudly as he hurried to find some cover along the northern edge of the tunnel.

The barbarian then turned back to smaller frost giant. The orc's breath came in ragged puffs of air, his ribs probably crushed, but still he found himself smiling at the giant. As he roared against the pain, Begon began to carve his halberd through the giant's flesh as if he was a butcher and the giant a cow.

Ooc34 damage on hill giant from Raackma: 98 damage on small frost giant.

The dimwitted hulk that was the Hill Giant looked stunned, confused as to where where he was, what he was doing. But it seemed that his strike woke it out of it's stupor. Swiftly, what it had for a weapon slammed into him hard, sending him flying. He had his shield up in time, but he could feel the force of the blow had injured him. Fortunately, it was only a flesh wound. His soul still burned with the desire to kill giants, and as he rose, the flame only burned hotter.

As he saw Begon's attack on the Hill Giant land true, he smiled. "Good hit, runt.", he sneered, the emphasis on the last word driving home his complete lack of respect for the Hill Giant being laid bare. He saw Begon's eviscerated form, and Ozgur wasn't looking well either. "One thing you forgot though....", he continued, casting healing magic with a practice and ease as one would have from decades of experience. "As long as I stand, they stand.", he continued, the glowing aura of healing magic surrounding his compatriots as explosions of gore went off around him. He flicked off a piece of flesh that had landed on him, the Hill Giant looking very worse for wear. "And as long as we stand, Giants die.", he growled, his war hammer fleshed swiftly, crushing the Hill Giants skull like an overripe melon. It fell, never to rise again.

He looked over to Begon's position, and was shocked to see the cowardly giant standing amongst yet more dead kinsmen. "The coward!", he yelled. "Raackma! Chuttaki! Drop that spineless bastard!"

OOC+20 HP healing to everyone. +27 HP to myself. 14 damage to the Hill Giant.

Raackma and Chutakki were too far away, they were even farther than she was. Sure they might have ranged abilities, but her hastily crafted plan wouldn't help much with that. However Begon, he was virtually on top of the other giant. The giant had a greater stride, should it attempt to flee, but that could be solved as well as giving Begon a bit more oomph behind his halberd.

The spear fell against her breast, standing in place as she smacked her hands together then threw them wide releasing a pinch of iron powder into the air as she recanted; "بزرگ کن حرامزاده باشکوه و دشمنان ما را در هم بشکن." her eyes flashed with an orange brilliance momentarily.

She watched as the orcish one sunk a little deeper into the snow and ice as his stature grew. She imagined his muscles expanding and growing as he became the size of a giant himself.

She allowed the spear to roll off her breast and back into her hand (OOC: I only need one hand for the spell, but I wanted it to sound cooler).

Maybe he should have listened to Ozgur’s cry to Kill the big one. Maybe he shouldn’t have been here in the first place. But the half-orc was enraged, there was no reasoning with him. He saw the great lunk laughing at him. Laughing at him. Begon cut again and again with his halberd, carving the defenceless giant to hunks of flesh butchered on the icy floor.

Ozgur shrugged – there was no accounting for his friend when he was angry. Ulster however was trading blows with the hill brethren that had lumbered towards him. He gathered his power, shaping it in a hail of force that peppered the flabby belly, sending it quivering and the giant howling with pained surprise.

Standing near the rear, Raackma drew his bow and let fire a volley of arrows at the same dolt, finding their targets and standing clear from its chest and shoulders like perverse spines.

Ulster saw the creature groan and stumble. He lorded over it, even as he dealt the fatal blow that knocked out its teeth as it fell lifeless. ”As long as I stand, they stand,” he shouted, calling on Sharindlar’s healing presence to tend to his comrades, healing their wounds and sharpening their spirits.

”Raackma! Chutakki! Drop that spineless bastard!” he shouted at the sight of the cowardly giant who had fled the scene just hours ago.

But from behind him, Ulster heard words in a foreign tongue filling the cavern. It was Nokomis’s voice, and those words were charged with power. A power that embraced and filled Begon, who was even then dripping with the blood of his foe. As they watched, the half-orc swell and grew in front of their eyes until he stood as tall at the giants he faced.

Which was enough for the coward who had fled them before, once more he turned and ran from the scene …

… his work was done you see. The trap was sprung.

Those infernally cold toads whose shoulders towered over a normal man seemed to spring at Begon from every direction. He felt the chill his bones as they bounded into his presence. And those jaws snapped and tore at him. He ducked and dodged as best he could, but one had to get through.

Maybe it was prescience on Nokomis’s part that made her enlarge her comrade, but the jaws that would have held a lesser being fast could do no more that cut and rake at the half-orc’s arm. An effect that in his rage he shrugged off.
