For 5e: If it takes in-game time to move between trials, will we be allowed to use 1/day items between competition rounds if they only require an action to use?

This will be made clear at the outset of round 2 of competition.

Now that points and round two are assigned can I ask why Zephaniah didn’t get credit for the assist on the water kids? I knew I wasn’t moving on to round 2 from day 2 and I didn’t want to hurt gaijin’s chances but now I would like to know.

SQUEAK -- Moved from the OOC thread.

When we initially looked at it, we did not see the contribution as significant enough to merit points. We re-examined it after this comment and agree that you did add value on the partial assist for the water kids. While Gaijin did the majority of the work (feather token of boat, jumped in water and pulled the kids out), the diversion given to the sharks was definitely beneficial.

While it is a moot point right now, we agree that 25% of the reward should be granted to you for the save (30 total for saving 3 kids * ..25 =7.5 -- rounded up to 8 points). Gaijin will retain all of his points.

Please note that the intention is for 'shared' success to be valued at MORE than 100% where appropriate, since we would like to reward effective teamwork. For example, if saving a child gives you 10 points, it is possible that two players work together and one earns 60% and the other earns 70%.

I don't think I saw any discussion about how Character Death is handled with regard to scoring.

Is a K.O. considered immediate Elimination from the competition regardless of score?
Or would it be loss of participation for the remainder of the round, but revival to await judgement?
Or is it some lesser punishment, such as immediate revival, but a points penalty?

Or is it going to be a "If you want to find out, be the first to die." kind of rule?

SQUEAK. It will not prohibit you from advancing, but it will end your round.

But my suggestion to you is this... Don’t die.

Will round 2 take place after a short/long rest or will we continue on from where we left on in terms of HP/spell slots/magic item use, etc?

No need for a response; I know the answer will be presented at the beginning of round 2.

I just want to note that a central aspect of my character is his Mutagen, which I forgot to add to his character sheet. Once brewed, it lasts indefinitely, so I had squirreled it away under "of course he has one prepared", but since I didn't do so explicitly, I also failed to specify which type of mutagen it was, which made it particularly unreasonable to "brew" on the spot.

So, I'm hoping that either there will be an opportunity to formally brew one in game before next round, or I that I can declare that it would be a [+Dex/+Wis] Mutagen now, before learning about the next challenge, so that I can correct the error without giving myself an undue advantage.

SQUEAK - Sorry Gaijin, if it is not on your character sheet, you are not able to add it now. If an opportunity comes up between rounds that allows for the 1 hour required to brew a mutagen, you may do so at that time.

Gaijin — Hah, alright. Fingers crossed then. Worst case scenario: Improvise, Adapt, Overcome with Discretionary Points.

I'm not sure if this will work but I felt like mentioning here that if Tobias had any time available between the next sessions and his companions were injured at all he would have taken the time to use his "Wand of Healing" to heal any of his comrades. Obviously under protest from Khelben; whom he'd just ignore. SQUEAK - The mechanics that occur between rounds will be explained with the Round 2 intro.

I have a few questions regarding Polymorph and how it interacts with the Bladesinger mechanics

1. This is more just for confirmation, but I have found there is some debate as to how polymorphing oneself affects one's ability to maintain/deactivate concentration. I just want to confirm that, as per RAW, Psyliana would still maintain control over the general course of action and the ability to drop concentration and revert to her original form regardless of new forms INT score.
Bhelogan - Yes, you can maintain concentration. You can drop it as you chose. You just can't cast any new spells, or any other action that the BEAST form you select for polymorph cannot physically do.

2. Certain effects, such as the bladesong, lasts for the duration of the spell without requiring concentration. I was wondering how casting polymorph on oneself would affect that. Would it even still be in effect, as now that is not a feat as the new form's stat block replaces the old? If it would remain active, how would the bonus to AC equal to the intelligence modifier work? Would it keep the INT of the caster when the ability was activated or would it change to the new form's INT? What would having a negative INT modifier do to it?

Bhelogan - Bladesong is a class feature. When you take on a new shape with Polymorph, you get a new stat block. Unluck Wild Shape, which says you can keep class/racial features when you change shape, Polymorph does not let you use class features. As such, you would lose the benefit of Bladesong when you polymorph. (Same thing with a Barbarian's Rage, which has been confirmed via Sage Advice)
