Character Name: walen Race: half-elf Class: rogue Background: charlatan Why are you on the caravan heading to Baldur's Gate?: Trying to find my next score. Hit it big. I've heard troubles in boulders gate and hope to join it. Backstory/Concept: born on the sword coast walen has been traveling since he can remember. He's done jobs here and there. Gained a reputation for himself not that he's earned the one he'd give you. Though the story changes by the day walen has almost forgotten any true story beyond this. He's out for himself first though the group thing works if only to pay for ale or keep his head down after a score. Last edited by delpinator; May 31st, 2022 at 04:04 AM. |

Name:Morholt Caster Race: human variant Class: wizard diviner Alignment: neutral good Basic concept: a young curious wizard searching for a magical tome and trying to make the world a better place Background: Noble Traits:I am horribly, horribly awkward in social situations-There’s nothing I like more than a good mystery. Ideal:Knowledge. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. Bond:I seek an ancient text that holds terrible secrets that must not fall into the wrong hands. Flaw: I speak without really thinking through my words, invariably insulting others. Why are you on the caravan heading to Baldur's Gate?:Morholt is following a lead that the book he seeks might be in Balder's Gate. Backstory: Born into the prestigious magical Caster family as the third son, Morholt was afforded the privilege of an education and magical tutoring from a young age. He showed an aptitude for learning and the magical arts, but fell short in the art of social graces, preferring to spend his time with his nose in a book rather than forming friendships. When he came of age to join the battle for succession to become the heir, he found himself at a disadvantage to his more affable older brothers, but there were many ways to gain his father’s favor, and Morholt found one in his precious books. The Ognam Infinium, the legendary book of infinite knowledge would make a fine prize. determined to win and with a heart full of ambition and drive, Morhlt set out into the world at the age of seventeen. However, Morholt’s books ill prepared him for the harsh realities of the world. He suffered many setbacks and dangers, but he persevered through it and grew. Sadly, he failed to find the book before his eldest brother Gish was named the heir and his second brother Lance died under questionable circumstances. Fearing for his own life, Morholt decided against returning home, but all was not lost for despite his many hardships, Morholt grew to love the freedom and independence he experienced as an adventurer over the stifling restrictions and rules of high society. His social ineptitude still gets him in trouble from time to time, but the few friends he has made value him for his encyclopedic knowledge and magical talents. Now Morhoilt searches for the Ognam Infinium for himself, and any treasure he can find along the way

Question for the GM: I was wondering about the caravan heading to Baldur's gate. Are all of us PC's in the same caravan? If so, where is it coming from?

Another question to the GM: hopefully without asking you to give too much away, what is the likelihood of part of this campaign taking place on the seas of the sword coast? I have an idea, but I don't want to commit to a full on character who's best element is the open seas if there is zero chance of spending any time on a ship.

@girlplay: The caravan's origins are from the town of Teziir, with stops along the Trade Way in Elversult, Priapurl, Easting, and Iriaebor before even reaching Greenest. I will, most likely, be using this map religiously as it is a good resource for the Forgotten Realms in which the module is set. And is a good resource for players to have to ;-)
@ProjectLazarus: I make no allusions as to the actions of players, however I have nothing planned for any sea traveling. Though this is to be an epic campaign, made up of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Rise of Tiamat, and Storm King's Thunder. So I cannot give a hard 'no' either. as there is bound to be some adventures going on in between. Though as of this moment, nothing in the modules lead to sea travel, but I am more than capable to write something in if it comes up. I also like to incorporate character backstories, so I will be reworking quite a bit from the books to make it more cohesive (there's a lot of complaints about the intro, I've worked to allay that if anyone has heard of that), and will write in situations that are individual character centric as well.

GM: I just noticed that you're intending to have us roll for our characters' ability scores. May I use the point-buy system instead?
Mostly, I think the application is fairly complete. I may revise things before the deadline. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome. Do you have any general lore on Priapurl or the area around that city? Last edited by girlplay; May 31st, 2022 at 09:06 PM. |

@Girlplay: Personally, I prefer to have everyone use the same system so it is fair for all. I prefer the 4d6 element. I know some prefer other systems, but the 4d6 is my go-to method.
As for Priapurl, I tend to go with this if that helps. Love the applications so far. You guys have decided to not make my decision easy when I start picking, lol. Updated the table of applications.

Thanks for that information about the town. It actually doesn't seem like a very appropriate place for Annera to be from. Is there a larger settlement in the area that would be more sensible? (Some place is a small collection of lords and ladies.)

She could have come from Westgate, which is the oldest, richest, and most corrupt port on the Sea of Fallen Stars. If she was stripped of any rank, title, and privilege, she could have then travelled to Teziir. Or from Largest free city on the coast of the Dragonmere. Teziir is an independent trade city, attempting to displace Westgate as the principal trade city for goods traveling from the Sword Coast to the Inner Sea. The city is still considered a frontier town by most people. Its growth has been haphazard. Very few roads run straight for any considerable distance. There is also a considerable population that lives outside the town in shacks and tents. They provide many services, both legal and illegal, to the inhabitants of the city proper.Teziir itself.
Elversult was a rich community found in the Dragon Coast region of Faerūn. It was an important trading up and mercantile center, that facilitated both honest and illegitimate trade across the Eastern Heartlands and beyond. Beyond its reputation as a great trade city and hotspot of the latest trends, Elversult was known across nearly all of Faerūn as the birthplace of the renewed church of Amaunator and the god's second sun that shone bright in the skies above.Elversult or Iriaebor (pronounced: /ɪəriˈeɪbɔːr/ eer-ee-AY-bore), also known as the Overland City and the City of a Thousand Spires, was a large city in Sunset Vale in the Western Heartlands region of west Faerūn. While it retained its status as an independent city-state, it remained within the realm of influence of the 15th century nation of Elturgard. While it was considered to be one of the most densely-populated and economically influential locales in western Faerūn, it was believed its true potential as a great power was stymied by the petty squabbles and in-fighting that plagued many of its residents.Iriaebor are also good choices.
